Yes, the baseball bat was nice, but nothing quite like a psychopath with a gun or two for true happiness and joy! I'm still pleasantly surprised how well the guns turned out, and still plan to make them shootable by cloning the Desecrate mod/ script. ) Its funny... I started playing with this outfit because I was getting so deep into the other one, and thought I could do this in a few days. WRONG!!!!!!! Part of the downside of learning so much about making clothes CC. Before, I was happy with cutting and pasting multiplier parts, making a 3 color mask and using the EA diamond pattern in TSRW to get a very basic look. Now, I just got done cutting and pasting, fabricating from parts, shading and double pasting, about 100 (realistically, 20, maybe more) layers to get this.... I'm pretty proud of the shading across the multiple layers to get depth and show the layering of the various parts, AND keep the leather texture Shushilda had. ) I only wish I was good enough to make something like this myself, and not have to use the multipliers others have made. I had to remake the mesh too, unfortunately, but am not 100% done. Problems with Blender reading a mesh with solidify AND extrude!!!! What the heck are "tangents" for anyway?????????? Well, the newest mesh went out, in, and back out of Blender with no problems. I'd like to put all the belt eyelets in, but UV/ multiplier spacing was getting me twisted up! Maybe later? Not sure yet, but I might get the new mesh and multiplier in a test package tonight. Need to make a color mask though. Just one more of the many things I learned since starting down this path is to edit and make 4 color masks. )
Nonsequitur Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 That multiplier looks like it could walk off the page - nice work! Me, I cut and paste a lot of image prices from online into a composite - much like you did. There are so few sites where you can find layout images - premade. I've only found about 5 or 6. It's handy to find an image that will fit the UV of the Sim with both front and back. A little perspective tweaking and/or UV tweaking... I'm no artist when it comes to fine life drawing - I'm more of a Drafter & Mechanic. First time in TSRW - My Harley Corset top. Not bad. Needs a lot of work though, along with the pants. A big problem is the lace at the top of the Bra.

I've only had success doing that one, maybe two times. Usually, I either fit a mesh to a nice multiplier, or work multiplier parts around a mesh... or some combination of the two. The top looks good. Not sure when I'll get back to the top. I should have the pants done a bit later. The easiest thing to do for a lace bra is find one. There is a lot of lingerie CC.
Guest Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 Well, a couple problems with the way that multiplier looked in game, so, I made a new one! AND.... a new diffuse map, specular, normals map AND 4 color mask!!!! What a pain in the but this can be! But, just some minor tweaking left, and on to the top... boots... bracelets... back to the guns... OY! But, I think I got the pants REALLY close!

Guest Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 I'd LIKE to add the eyelets all the way around the belt, but spacing across the mesh versus UV hasn't worked out so far. ( I'll probably just add a set of eyelets on the right side (left looking at Harley) to balance it out, and 2 more belt loops at the back of the hips, and be done with it. ) I lightened up the colors too. A bit brighter, but still has a "dirty" look. I'll get back to the top tomorrow, and maybe look at the boots?
Nonsequitur Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 2 hours ago, LadySmoks said: spacing across the mesh versus UV If your eyelets are a mesh - then stack the UV's. The only way to get good detail and color on something that small is with a "mini-Torus" or a closed-end cylinder. Map the first one "Front" and make big for image detail to fit one little space on your Map - THEN orientate on the model. Don't map after orientating on the model. Any duplicates will automatically be Mapped in the same spot and orientation as the first one. Even if the mesh part is skewed weird - it will take the image mapped from the first one to its face. So, you don't need to touch their individual UV's. Probably preaching to the Choir.
Nonsequitur Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Harley is coming along... This is what I was talking about for saving UV real estate: That's a 1024 overlay. I could have made the UV as small as a dot and it would look about the same - just no shading.
Guest Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 7 hours ago, Non-sequitur said: If your eyelets are a mesh - then stack the UV's. I usually stack small, redundant parts, but on the belt they're just in the multiplier. Its possible I could make eyelets as 3d parts. Its what I did with the studs on the other top I haven't finished. They would only need to be one side, since they attach directly to the belt, and just put another single dot on the color channel mask instead of each individual spot on the belt. Thanks for the idea! I did add the belt loops this morning. Haven't put it in a package yet, but its the exact same mesh... just has new belt loops. But now, I'm thinking to go back and do the eyelets. )
Guest Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Not having my game laptop is frustrating! I currently have so much stuff in my TS3 mods that it takes at least a 1/2 hour for the travel laptop to load the game... So, anything I change and want to see in game takes sooooooo long, and I end up going back on Blender to adjust something, so what I loaded is obsolete by the time it loads! Kind of like a laptop being a year obsolete by the time they sell it to you!!!! The top isn't going as I want, so I started on the boots. THEY are going smoothly... so far. I was thinking about using a Josh mesh, but decided to go with something much easier to work with, with far fewer vertices to manipulate. Plus, I wanted a fat heel, so I went with a pair I've had for a while as my base and just added new legs to get the height I want.
Nonsequitur Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 4 hours ago, LadySmoks said: so what I loaded is obsolete by the time it loads! Hope you get that laptop back soon. I've been tweaking my Harley top. Rebuilt the lace. Changed the rib texture on the corset, and removed texture from the rest of the color channels. It's starting to look good.
Guest Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 Your top is coming along nicely... much further along than mine, which I put on hold (what's new). Been working on the boots, which WAS going smoothly, until I wanted to try solidify again. I have no clue what or how you and Josh make it work, especially Josh, since he uses 2.8... I always get an error about tangents on export, and have no clue what they are or do, aside from screw up what I'm working on. I export as mesh, it won't. I export as .obj, convert to mesh with tool kit as I do with other things, do bones, etc, import the mesh okay, but get the error on export. Its part of the hold up on the top too.
Nonsequitur Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 I've never got a Tangents error. I've gotten errors saying a group was locked in a certain state and the operation can't be done. I found "workarounds" that got past it but messed up the mesh where I couldn't import it back in to MS. A few other weird errors from time to time. I save a lot and save as another name a lot too ( Date/Time stamp - a lot more system cleaning) just in case something like that happens - I abort without save and bring up a previous edit - start over. I'm sure it's because I don't know Blender near as well as Josh and use it less than you. A tangent is generally referring to the intersection point where a straight line intersects with a curved surface. I don't know if that is relevant or can translate to your error issue. Me, I grab a body frame, make a plane and wrap it and tweak the vertices. Or, cut a body part off the mesh and shape it. Rinse & Repeat. If I'm starting from scratch. Or, just grab a mesh from on-line or from some other game and tweak it to what I like. So, I load it into Blender first if an online mesh (obj format to start with) check the UV and position for easy access and no stacking or overlap of parts (MS has some UV features I like but is really limited). Most of my work is in MS. I load a WSO or OBJ and work it. When I need Blender - I save as an obj and load into Blender. I only use the Create tools to make shapes, Decimate, Solidify, Bake, and the UV Tools. Perhaps it's because I don't use those other edge, face, and other tools that you use. Everything else is done in MS. Well, I think I'm about done with the Harley Quinn Top and Bottom. I remade the pant legs the old school way - cut out a lower body and subdivide - or vise versa. I used the Shushilda multiplier as a base like you did. I removed the front straps from the image and blended - then added 3D straps and placed them with the belts color channel. Doing that custom mesh wrap around the legs didn't work as well as I'd hoped. Too many holes - face separations. Anyway, add a couple more color palots to the pants, play it i bit and post it. BTW: I have had bad luck using 4-color years ago and never revisited. I know you're supposed to move a color channel to the Alpha layer but never was able to do it - so... I get by without 4-color channels. Both the Harley Top & Bottom are 3-channel.
Guest Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 You cloned my multiplier? With all the back and forth between laptops, I can't find the link to the tutorial for making 4 color masks, and I'm in the process of moving stuff again... got my game laptop back. )
Nonsequitur Posted December 10, 2019 Posted December 10, 2019 well yea. It lost a little in translation since I had to scale up. Just use perspective tool to stretch where needed. Removed your addition and smoothed the pocket areas. Still not as clean as yours. I thought your addition of a strap or heavy seam going to the knees was a good idea. So, I removed the image part and made them 3D. Added some enhancement lines to the thigh patches. I could have used Shushilda's - just clean up around her pockets. Anyway - credit where credit is due. I did a surf for some info on 4-color using a bunch of keywords - didn't find a thing. I know it's out there - I remember reading it years ago. I've replaced several Hard Drives and had a Beer since then. But with the internet so commercialized - it might be on page 1,347,592.
sim333 Posted December 10, 2019 Posted December 10, 2019 Hi. Where can I download a ready-made Harley Quinn with all the additions, it is very necessary for my game?
Nonsequitur Posted December 10, 2019 Posted December 10, 2019 12 hours ago, sim333 said: ready-made Harley Quinn Nothing is ever Ready-Made... We're making it. I take it you mean - not only the clothing costume and accessories, but the Sim character with all the body and facial tweaks. But, we are just making outfits and both hit on Harley Quinn independently at the same time. It's not that we were collaborating to make a whole set - or anything. Like us and everyone - you piece things together for your fantasy Sim to make your scene or environment. We're fortunate in that with our skills and knowledge - if we can't find what we are looking for - we can make it (usually). If you've followed this thread - you know we take parts of other meshes and alter them. It's so much more easy and efficient rather than make every vertice and face of something. I've personally not found a lot of Harley Quinn objects on the internet. A few clothing objects and accessories like bracelets, etc. If we haven't made what you're looking for, or haven't found it on the internet yourself - probably doesn't exist. You're left with the task of tweaking your Harley body and face - yourself. LadySmoks has been working on her personal Harley for a couple years. Me, I started mine a couple months ago and still looks like an EA Sim. There are only about 3 Harley costumes, the shorts and tank top, the leather pants and corset, and the batman/cartoon Harlequin Jumpsuit that I have found. As for a Harley Quinn body - no. Perhaps a post in the Sims 3 requests & finds section as a separate request might have some results - albeit, perhaps slow.
Nonsequitur Posted December 10, 2019 Posted December 10, 2019 I found something on 4-channel color. It's old and incomplete but is a start. https://www.thesimsresource.com/workshop/articles/view-post/post/11712/How to create a RGBA Stencil Mask
Guest Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 22 hours ago, Non-sequitur said: well yea. It lost a little in translation since I had to scale up. Well, you had to resize it, probably because I didn't post the pic for you to use it... I was just showing you how much work I had put into it at that point for what I'm working on. I haven't had time to look for the tutorial on 4 color masks. I saw the one you posted, and it doesn't explain things as good as the one I finally found, and understood. I'm really not sure without looking, but I think its a GIMP internal program and nothing to do with Nividia. Everything is done on the right side panel (on my GIMP)... where if you right click the image you're working on, you get a big drop down menu... one of the parts in that menu deals with the alpha, and adding it as a layer mask to work with. You can also open a 4 color mask to work on the rgb part, and also edit the alpha. I'll try to find it again. 18 hours ago, sim333 said: Hi. Where can I download a ready-made Harley Quinn with all the additions, it is very necessary for my game? There are a few Harley Quinn outfits out there, but not many as Non-Sequitur said. Some are okay, some not so much. My Harley might be going on 2 years? At least 1 1/2, but time does fly. I started just using CC that looked close enough, but began making my own and modding CC by others to work better as Harley stuff. Its possible I'll upload something, some day, but I have 2 outfits, (top, bottom, boots, accessories, guns, ect) that I'm working on now. One is the Arkham leather which NS is also doing, and the other is the Arkham outfit in my avatar. Been working on the top for that outfit for months. I'm stalled in my 3rd or 4th version, which is why I started doing the leather... or should I say, redoing it.
Nonsequitur Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Sorry. It was not theft at the time... at least I didn't see it that way. I won't do that again. Your multiplier had the straps and "crotch flap" that you added, which I liked and yours was nearly identical to Shushild's with those additions. I removed your straps and kept the flap, changed the pockets, and removed most of the belt banding, enhanced the quilting at the thies, cleaned up the pockets and added pocket pull tabs. If I thought for a minute that you were feeling protective - I would have used Shushilda's - or made my own. You have a better butt than Shushilda. Bottom line - your work on that multiplier, in my opinion, is better than Shushilda's. As builders we are always looking for the best to use in our own creations. Your's was the best. Guest Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 I guess I should take it as a compliment that you used my modified multiplier. That one was actually not my final version. I have a slightly different one in my game now, and will get around to the final touches eventually. But, the reason I posted that, and shared with you that I used Shishilda's multiplier as my base was to give you ideas and an option for a place for you to start. Some of the differences you see, like in "my butt" are from enlarging a down sized pic of a 2048 x 2048 multiplier, so some detail gets lost... also from me changing brightness/ contrast, image sharpness, shadows and stuff like that... and that GIMP images tend to decay, so during work, I don't compress anything when I save it. I still haven't found that tutorial on 4 color masks... the one I understood for GIMP, not PS. I'll try to put something together for you, but honestly, I keep forgetting all the steps and end up going in circles for a while until I stumble on the right combination!
Nonsequitur Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 Understood. I pulled my posting of my Harley top & bottom - going to repackage them and remade the pants. This time I made my own multiplier from scratch. Got the original image from a sales catalog i think. Anyway - you did give me some ideas which may be evident.
Guest Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 I tried finding that 4 color channel tutorial again, but like the time I did find it, its truly elusive! I figured, what the heck, and tried making screenshots and showing you myself, but just as I wrote above, I missed a step, got almost done, and said fudge it! I'll try again tomorrow. ) It has its limits, but is very useful. The top in my avatar pic is a version I made in August, I think... maybe older? Anyway, the EA corset top I based it on used a 4 color rgba mask. I moved stuff and didn't know how to edit that mask, so as we talked about before, I just went with 3 colors, rgb, and used an overlay for the buckles. The leather pants are 4 color that I made... so instead of having to use an overlay on the studs and buttons, I colored them in alpha. Are you using a leather texture? or maybe the cast iron metal texture? I noticed the purple on the red. I had that problem when I tried making certain patterns fully red in TSRW. After a lot of wishing in one hand and poop filling up the other, I stumbled onto a solution when I remembered how a scale texture accidentally got into an outfit I made for my Lucifera Morningstar (the devil)... I made it with the new TSRW which blacks out and won't let you change mesh materials, and the texture from the base outfit got on her skin. It gave her a reptile, lizard, snakeskin look... ANYWAY... to duplicate that effect on the cocktail dress, I... Open any outfit in TSRW (I only use the old version so I can change things)... in textures, edit color on something, open the folder for other textures, pick the one you want, and export the background texture. Open that in GIMP and desaturate it. Now, I usually save my base multiplier as no compression, make parts in a stacked layer until I like them, merge layers and save as new so my base remains clean. That said, open your base multiplier. Add a new layer. Copy the desaturated texture to the new layer. Copy and paste the squares until you cover what you want texture on, and trim the texture to fit. Now, I have GIMP 210, but I think older versions also have the layer opacity slider. It works like controlled erase. With the texture layer over your multiplier, decrease the opacity. You'll see your multiplier come through and the texture will be on the multiplier! A couple of ways to increase the texture while making it more see through are contrast, of course, and I use filters> sharpen. Or, you can use the bump map, light and shadows, you have to play with it to find what you like best. Then, merge the texture to your multiplier and check it out in TSRW... and its easy to just make changes and take a look to see if you like the results.
Nonsequitur Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 clear as mud... Maybe it's that I'm very tired. Finished the remake of the Harley pants. Heading to bed.... Zzzz.
Guest Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 Yes, teaching others is not one of my strengths! Especially things I have only recently figured out!!! Much of what I "know", I don't know 100% and often have to back up and do it again because I forgot a step in the process.
