Love

"Philia" is the Ancient Greek vocable for "Fondness, Love." somehow, during the late 1870s, it got a negative bias and became associated with "abnormal love or fondness" — being "abnormal" associated with what a culture or social group deemed as the norm (or "normal).
speaking of different love manifestations:

Agalmatophiliaa term coined by Richard von Krafft-Ebing's on his study "Psychopathia Sexualis" — a 1870s study about a gardener falling in love with a statue of the Venus de Milo and being discovered attempting physical coitus with it.

on Mechanophilia (a paraphilia regarding sexual attraction to machines such as bicycles, automobiles, helicopters, ships, and aeroplanes) :

Yes... winny here seems to be thinking that i think of cars in a sexual way and i feel like the language gap is putting a crack here. He said that he uses google translate to communicate here and in my experience it is kinda trash when you put more than a small sentence. When i say, for example, i love video games, you know what i mean right? You know i don't mean it in a sexual way, like i wanna fuck the CD or something lmao. But winny is looking at the word "love" and taking it differently. On the opposite it's like when you say "Ah man i hate <input anything>", it doesn't mean you despise it from your core and kill it with a sword or something, "love" and "hate" are often used not in literal sense.

Seriously what the fuck am i doing talking about basic shit like this? Lmfao

yes, i know exactly what you mean, Otaku-Sensei.

the same often happens with similar languages when spoken in different countries. Take Portugal and Brazil, for example: while in the latter "I Love It" means "I Like It Plenty," in the first there's a literality (no metaphoric notion) implied, hence most Portuguese people would never refer to "extreme like" as "love." e.g.: if a Brazilian says to a Portuguese, "hey, dude, i love your shirt;" the latter will feel utterly uncomfortable.
i believe it's a cultural thing, Otaku-Sensei; while some cultures tend to be more literal about the way they express things, others tend to be more flexible — more allegorical. in that sense, Google Translator obscures a lot more than it clarifies.

Well i'm glad we're on the same page then. From personal experience google translate is absolutely hilarious when you're using it in english to japanese and vice verse. It changes the damn words even! languages like japanese are very different from the alphabetical western language, so while within these alphabetical languages there are differences in contexts, with languages that are stroke based the structure of the language itself is vastly different. One word can mean a lot of things physically. Maybe in germany "love" holds a more romantic or sexual connotation as opposed to english where the words can have much of their impact hollowed out.

Oh man, objectophilia is not just object sexuality! :classic_laugh:
but here shows that many have no idea, actually, objectophilia should not be despised, there are people who love objects, but not in a sexual sense!
I already wrote "object love can becomes dangerous", at this very moment when object love becomes object sexuality.
I for my part, I could never love an object, it is a thing that you use and when not in use, simply disposed of.

no, you do not understand.
small example: one person owns picture or a other object, because he loves it, or a sex robot "also an object"!
what do you think could happen, if I this person take away his beloved object?
then this person could become a murderer and that only because of the loss of an object!
It is completely different when a person becomes a murderer, only if he wants to protect another person.
I would kill for my family, but never for a crappy object!
and that is sick for me.
but I do not care what you think. love your nonexistent car.

Oh for fuck's sake man it's not like that! Look, i don't wanna appear to be rude but you're not understanding what i'm saying, Zen here knows what i'm saying because he's not relying on shitty google translate. I understand that you don't speak the language and that's fine, but what you're saying is wrong m8. If i say that i love Skyrim, that doesn't mean i wanna fuck the game itself. It doesn't mean i'll murder someone if they take my game away. Murder is murder, killing in order to protect your family or friends or defending an unarmed person isn't murder, that falls under self defense so you're also wrong on that legal aspect. (Unless we're talking about some sense forsaken nation where lefty morons get to make the rules, then it's whatever)

Also, how is the car non-existent? It clearly is real lmao. But ah, i feel like this is google translate fucking things up again. Man, what a drag.

yes, me falling it very difficult to translate everything correctly.
why do I understand everything you write and you do not understand what I mean?
do you see already again, you write, You love Skyrim but you would never fuck it.
I would never love a game, I liked to play it but that was it.
the only thing I love is my family and my animals.
I could also love other people but trust is good, control is better, it means it costs lot to gain my trust.
62 years life experience.
it simply does not work for me, an object is a Object of utility just like money.
I have it around to live, but I do not adore it and most of all, I do not love it.
and that is my advantage, I live without fear of loss. :classic_wink:

hey, Winny,

i believe there's a linguistic conflict occurring.
some cultures use the vocable "Love" as to express a deep liking on something, being this an object, an act, etc.; in others, "Love" is deemed only as a profound sentiment — too profound to be understood out of its primal context.
according to the Oxford English Dictionary, love means "an intense feeling of deep affection;" also, still on the same dictionary, it means "a deep romantic or sexual attachment to someone" and "a great interest and pleasure in something."
in some cultures — especially latin and latin-influenced ones — it's common to say or hear someone saying; "i Love to swim," or, "i Love to eat ice cream," or even, "i Love Skyrim." that should be understood literally as Oxford's third meaning: "i truly like to swim," "i find great pleasure in eating ice cream," and "i like very much to play Skyrim."
so, if you hear or read "i love cars," please understand that this person doesn't necessarily hold a profound sentiment for vehicles; it means s/he likes automobiles very much. nothing so negative as mechanophilia (even though it might happen); just a deep liking on the subject.

cheers.

hey, Winny,

I would suggest leaving him be. He obviously can't tell what we're saying because of that linguistic conflict so no matter what we say or how much we try to explain, his machine translation will always fuck it up in the process and he won't understand anything, so i think adding the google translated version was kind of a waste here. He's under the impression that there is only one type of expression regarding love in the english language as well. Maybe if he understood english even a little bit we wouldn't be having to explain such silly things to him lmao

well, Otaku-Sensei;
not that i feel like bragging about it nowadays, but i had wonderful love-making ( a.k.a. g r e a t ? f u c k i n g ) in the front and back seats of my cars. not these days, though; i'm 43 and kind of too old for this shit! ?
nonetheless, in such sense, i might be called a "car fucker," afterall.

I dont know man, i gotta take Otakus side here, just like when he sees a nice car and gets turned on i do too when i see a nice PC computer rig with a 9900k processor and rtx2080Ti graphics card

I do not conceive that, it is too high for me.
Of course I'm happy when I me fulfill a wish, like for example to buy a 6000 euro PC and a 3000 euro monitor, but it's just things for me and not objects that I'll ever love.
I already said, that only thing I could love, are living beings with feelings and a certain mind.
and above all, wich love and my affection can reciprocate.
a car or computer can not show you, that this object loves you as well.
Love is always based on reciprocity and an object can not reciprocate that love.:classic_wink:

that is the reason why I hate english, to uncultivated!
In English, one word has many meanings and in germany, every word has its own meaning.
no wonder :classic_laugh:
German words 5.3 million
English words 1,022,000
for every english word there is a german translation, but it is impossible to translate all German words, because many words do not exist in English.

The problem here is the same as in most marriages: communication. Too much communication.

And why would you love cars when beautiful machines like this exist?

Well, that one doesn't. Only one prototype was ever built in reality, and that crashed too.
