[Salt] So, porn-modded Stellaris is pretty cool but why the !"§$ can't I disable Steam Rich Presence?

I've kinda grown up with the idea that a select number of people can at worst see what game I'm playing, but now details from within my game are made public to my friend list without any warning or, as far as I can see, way to disable it? How is that not more of an issue? CK2 at least let's you opt-out ffs. Now I can't even call my empire the Convent of the Cocktentacles because of that forced social shitfuckery

EU4 has a place to turn this off in options I'd be suprised if Stellaris doesn't.

In EU4 it is in Settings>Game>Rich Presence (toggle on or off)

If it doesn't maybe look at to your settings file directly, in my documents>paradox interactive>Stellaris>settings.txt.

look for show_game_status  or rich_presence and turn it from yes to no. (those are the commands to turn it off in HOI4 and EUIV I don't know maybe Stellaris is different I haven't played it since Paradox introduced rich presence)

You can make it so Steam doesn't even tell other people about the games you're playing at all. Go to your profile page, click edit profile, and then click privacy settings. Then you can change game details to private.

Yeah I made my entire gaming activity private.  It won't show at all on Steam now- period.  I only turn it on when I play Mordhau, so people on Discord can join me, but I also have my total hours played always set to private.

Yeah, recently set my game details to private (something I -thought- was supposed to be set by default).

Granted empire names didn't bother me too much since finding clever names for my empires was something I already did.

However, I'd rather not risk them deciding to start showing my civic choices some time down the line. "Etherial Ushlong Progeny" as a hive mind empire name can be easily hand waved away with a good explanation, if anyone even questions it in the first place. Civics themed around breeding swarms, sex trade, etc. not so much.

I know that feeling. You can turn off 'Rich Presence' in Stellaris Settings.

Oh, that one's new.

Just double checked in the main branch to see if I was actually an idiot the entire time but the option wasn't there. Opted into the Beta and there it is, nice

* Fixed a bug where Steam Rich Presence would sometimes fail to display you were a race of murderous Fanatic Purifier BDSM catgirls with too many ethics

* Added the ability to toggle Steam rich presence on or off in settings, if you don't want your friends and family to know you're extinguishing all sentient life as a race of murderous Fanatic Purifier BDSM catgirls

Love those hints from Paradox that they are well aware AND actually reading here on LL...

Greetings to Stockholm.

Best regards

Remember, Paradox logs a lot of information from the game.  Even if they didn't know about this place specifically, they'd notice what you're using with it.
