So, there's this weird wave of Anime-related mods/conversions, based on an entirely new race in-fact.

It's weird, at least to me, but it seems to attract people to 4 again which is nice. Even being big enough to get an article on PC Gamer.

There's not an absurd amount, but compared to other race mods it's progressing fast.

Nearing the amount Crimes Against Nature(Pony race mod, basically) received, and much more support than the Vulpine(Furry/Fox) race mod will probably ever get.

What's your opinion on the current anime trend stuff?

Edit: Replaced the first link with the mod itself.

Edit 2: Cleared things up a bit.

I'm not opposed to the wave, but I'm glad it is a thing.

I'd personally prefer TurkeyTail's anime race, but the current one is also nice.

It also puts my Waifu Factory mod out of date too. Which I'm also not against.

Huh, I wasn't aware of that mod for Skyrim, it's a different style then what the current wave is going for, but does seem to fit in with the world much better.

The real question here is, why do you care? Why bring this up? Isnt it up to modders to do what they want, like, love? You dont see me asking why THE FUCK people love giant watermelon tits in the "screenshots" section, but thats just my thought on the manner.

It's definitely not for me. It looks like they replaced the character's head with a flesh-colored balloon and drew a face on it. It's way too obtuse in it's execution. There are some other mods that mimic the anime style that look much better IMO-- the 2B and Marie Rose 'races' for example.

I see that some people really like it though, so I'm happy for them. Anything that continues to breath life into the old modding warhouse that is FO4 is alright in my book.

It's a great looking mod for those who want this kind of appearance, but in my opinion it stands out way too much to be used in a normal playthrough and I'm not sure if any vote properly describes that issue. Edonedon's comparison is absolutely perfect, CG anime kind of heads simply don't fit the realistic environment of the game, starting with clothes and ending with male characters. It's a perfect starting point for an overhaul of the entire game, but only that. I'd use this mod myself if we had access to a male version and, at the very least, gear appearance to go with it. Somehow I doubt it's going to happen, at least in foreseeable future. Right now the better option would be anime stylized face option.

Still, that anime face mod is great on its own and it's good to see more people talking about F4 modding again.

I just know that my companion mods will not (ever) be made compatible with custom race mods (like these, or otherwise) and I'll actively work measures into my companion to make sure they cannot function with a custom race (that includes custom scaling of characters which this race does).

That's a mod creators' opinion on it. It's up to the people what they like, but as mod author I can implement measures to make sure my mods are used in the way I envisioned them to be used.

This pretty much.

Respect for getting a new race with completely new head parts into the game. I've only briefly looked into it to see if it could ever be possible to port my shark race from Skyrim to FO4 and while it is indeed possible, the amount of soul-crushing head part morph sculpting and weight-painting work required for it makes it very unlikely to happen. If they got expressions and morphs to work (which it seems they did, looking at pics and videos on the mod page), I have to give it to them.

That being said, the game's graphics and style are way too realistic for it to fit, would need some major chances to aesthetics to fit in (like Artistic Skyrim Overhaul did); and IMO the fact that no gear seems to be refitted for the new character models and there's no male version of the race available only make it worse. If there was an "Anime Fallout Overhaul" mod that changed pretty much all of the game's textures to be more anime-y and cell-shaded or whatever and there was a male version of the race, it could see it working out better (though chances are I still wouldn't use it myself anyway).

i don't think they match the rest of the Game's Graphics, especially if the males are untouched, if they make the rest of the characters look like Anime characters it wouldn't be to weird,

I think it's really cool and I'm happy for people who will enjoy using the new race. It's nice to see new people coming to Fallout 4 as well as seeing that intensive mods such as this one are still being worked on. I won't use it simply because race mods tend to mess up my game. I have used CaN in the past (for the pony mod, obviously) and found it to be incompatible with way too many other mods I consider must-haves.

However, when it comes to races or even appearances in general, I'll just keeping waiting for Star Wars races to happen (Twi'lek, Togruta, Mirialan, etc.) I can keep dreaming ?

Can't agree more with this, though. Watermelon tits lmao I swear every fucking clothing, armor or companion-altering mod I check out has at least one screenshot of a female player character with absolutely ridiculously massive breasts.

I mean, dont get me wrong, its just a "fantasy" for some people, thats what games are about, living your fantasies, doing the impossible. But still, I just dont fucking see how can anybody be atracted to something like that. Not mentioning even if you had a chance with somebody like that for REAL, you wouldnt know what to do and wouldnt be able to enjoy it.

Its just my rant, dont take it "too seriously" :D

Does that mean anyone who tries to convert your companions to the custom race?

Or just anyone who is simply using a custom race?

Not sure why you would ask that... I was pretty specifically speaking about my companion mods. Shit.. who am I to say what people can and can't do with their own mods? But MY mods.. the ones I create.. yes there are security measures in there to prevent that from happening. No custom races for my companion mods, no custom size for my companion mods..

My first thought was the irony of all the effort into making your game look realistic.  'To each their own' is the beauty of a modded game though.

TBH i expected an incoming ban after seeing it in the hotfiles, because it looks like a rip from Illusion's Koikatu. But apparently it is made from a near-identical clone.

Well i personally don't mind stylized or anime content, though i'm getting extreme uncanny-valley vibes from the mix of anime and somewhat realistic ENB setups. It's like the faces are photoshopped in, they don't fit the rest of the image. Perhaps it would work better with some kind of cellshading ENB?

P.S.: I didn't vote, my option would be - "looks fun, would probably never use it myself"

My only concern about these type of mods is the "state she is 18+, but looks 12-14".  I think it is good that anime fans are getting mods, however there needs to be a line drawn at some point with the anime visuals.

My own sentiments exactly. Although to me anything that annoys the immersive lore-friendly fanboys is amusing.

My kid already played the game with Japanese voices so I imagine that would go well with it :)

Personally I have no prob with it, though I'm not gonna try it until they have a full overhaul with male characters. I'm not a huge fan of the aesthetic they went with... Would have preferred something more like Kawamoto (Cowboy Bebop/Gundam 0083) style.

I actually played FO4 in French and Japanese before quest mods began to come out properly. It was actually pretty nice, and made settlers a little more tolerable.

It means your brain can more easily filter out, "I hope you're not a Synth, here to spy on me" for the billionth time.
