Guest Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Hello, I am wondering if the old posts regarding the animation limit in Skyrim are still accurate? The posts I could find state it's anywhere between 7.000 and 10.000 animations. So... before I go installing stuff, I tought let's ask if this is still true ?

I am not sure what Skyrim's limit is but you can go over 10,000 by using FNISXL but it' s buggy as hell. If I would of known what I know now I wouldn't of installed so many poser mods and just used gomapero's latest pose mod. With my 3 poser mods plus all of the sexlab animations I am at 9,800 animations and game runs pretty fast.

raid777 Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Using too many animation mods can cause game instability. I would recommend disabling posing mods in Mod Organizer until you need them, maybe only enabling the ones you like the most. As for SLAL animations, I would delete specific animations you don't like/use and remove the animation from the animation list in certain files so that SLAL doesn't try to start non-existent animations. I'm at 9,500 character animations and around 5500 creature animations using FNIS XXL and I think I still have some issues but mostly ones I can deal with for now.

Rubbish. I have used XXL for a long time and never had any problems with it. My animationn count is a tickle under 13.5k. Anything over that and I crash on take-off. Normaly I would recommed 10k - 13k animations, but what you can run is highly related to the mods in your LO. Best way if you want the max animations for your setup would be to install as many as you can. You will get CTD on a new game if you have too many installed, just remove animations till the CTD stops. This will be the max number of animations you can run with your choosen setup. So installing more than that isn't good for anything (unless you change them later) there is a patch that allows more than 500/500 registered animations in SL, but I didn't tried that myself

If I would add Halo poser (with poser hotkeys), I would get to a little over 13.000 animations, would that work or is it more a "trial and error" kinda thing? EDIT for actual numbers: Just looked up the actual count right now: 8804 character 3565 creatures And if I add poser: 13171 character 3565 creature

You can add poser mods at the end of your load order anytime (if you have less than 254 plugins or if you use a bash patch to reduce esps from patches) (don't forget to rerun FNIS after adding removing any mods that inclue animations) Poser anymations don't have many stages so they don't hit the animation limit that hard. I added/removed a few times poser mods + poser hotkey mod on a running game and that worked well.

Never could figure out how to make bash patches (without it turning off all my mods and getting instant crashes on start and whatnot) or how to use merge plugins without trouble. I am at 245 plugins, so I guess that should work out ?

Uninstall a pack until you get it to load. You can get a rough guide to the relative number of animations in each pack by the packs size. So if one extra large pack works but two doesn't, try 1 x large and 1 medium etc. You don't need bashed/merged patches for this. I'm not sure they would even work.

I am at 245 plugins, so I guess that should work out ? well, it took me a while (months, looots of load orders) to use the bash patch without messing up my game. What helped to play with bash patch the first LOs was that I didn't even realized what got messed up xD

I'm not they would even work. that was an idea if plugin count is too high already alternative would be merging mods and yes bash patch has no effect on animation count (hopefully lol) seeing that jujoco has "only" 245 active plugins there is no issue anyways

I think there is a comment by Fore on the FNIS Nexus page but how long ago it was written ? As far as I can recall, I've never seen a problem on the tech support section which was down to XXL itself.

As far as I can recall, I've never seen a problem on the tech support section which was down to XXL itself. they read some comments from dumbass that have no idea what they are talking about repeat that somewhere else other repeat the same bullshit and that's how bullshit become a fact, even if it's bullshit animations, it's move forward, sit, attack1hand, attack2hand, poser x, halo y..... game pick one of the available idles, that meet the conditions (race is wolf, quest stage = x, bow equipped, whatever) script give priority 100 to idle whatever, game now load it over idle standingstill, standingstill is load back when priority set back to 0 the more animations you have, the longer that take, because of that there's a limit, to limit the mess you can create

And to me 'longer generation times and more frequent load CTD' doesn't translate into "buggy as hell".
