So two questions: 1) How good is this build for playing Skyrim? 2) Best guess as to whether this will be sufficient for TES6 when released. 27X Posted March 25, 2019 Posted March 25, 2019 Corsair is solid for most things, their PSU division is a rebrand from OCZ and you'd be better off with evga or seasonic, you can't really fuck around with PSUs. The GPUs you're thinking of picking up are frankly overpriced, overvolted and tend to overheat. You're much better off with the nVidia alternative, which while being equally overpriced, are neither overvolted nor tend to cause 10K dollar electric bills or burn down your house or both. Western Media drives also tend to fail after a year or two when that size; I would get the hitachi HGST equivalent, preferably a security version designed to stand massive amounts of abuse. All EVO and PRO SSDs have samsung magician bundled in, so a cloning purchase might be redundant, though if you ever switch out your main drive, magician will only clone to or from a samsung drive.

As a pinch of salt ... try to find out if the background noise isn't too loud. Regarding TESVI, well... if it's released during the next 4-5 years it should work fine. My biggest worries here is the CPU, but not because yours is bad in general, i'm rather wondering if Bethesda is capable to upgrade their engine for proper multi core support, with Skyrim i don't think it does. Not saying it doesn't at all, just that it isn't as good as it could be. And especially with script mods, that's a big deal. In case of doubt i'd rather look for something with more power per core, on the other hand... that probably would be a less good choice for anything that doesn't rely on a 20 years old engine. That might even matter for Skyrim, but again i have some doubts it's worth it, also because i'm not sure about what's out there and the cost difference. *edit: Somwhow misread 2700 3.2 GHz as 2.7 GHz. Should be totally fine for Skyrim, and i think you'd have a hard time finding anything significantly better. These days they rather increase the amount of cores instead of the power of a single one. So spending something like 200$ more for a 5% performance boost in Skyrim is most likely not worth it. Might still apply to TESVI, but then again... it's probably better if you just wait until release and change CPU just then, if there is anything better.
