lupus_hegemonia Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 So, regardless if I'm a fanatic Skyrim-er (is drug to me, not game), I was wondering to start playing other games as well. I have purchased the Witcher 3 but never started, so I did. Even if I saw (fro the beginning cut scene) that is far more... "adult" game than Skyrim (Gerrard's dream), I searched the Nexus and I didn't see much of nude mods or generally that (great) stuff of Skyrim... ...So, I'm wondering, Witcher 3 is NOT THAT MUCH good for modding/changes?
myuhinny Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 If all depends on how easy a game is to mod the harder it is to mod the less stuff that gets done. Some games you can't mod much other then textures. Because of game engine game tools and other things.
Guest Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 There are some adult mods. But do not expect extra sexual animations. Nude bodies and similar are normal and you can find them on Nexus.

The tools are available, documented ... nothing major to fuzz about. It basically the modders and their mindset. and to stress this: Those who do it all in their spare time and feel attracted to something special/creative/innovative/missing/buggy/... or not. And last or first (depending on your viewpoint as a mod auther) is the main story itself. The whole witcher series tells the story of Geralt of Rivia. Nothing else. And it was never meant to tell anything else. Skyrim and it's predecessors are at a totally different spin: they let you (Player) chose whoose story is going to be told. And this is the breaking point where you need little to no triggers for mod authors to come up with something creative, derived purely out of their fantasy (The Elder Scrolls) .... or where they more or less stick to a narrow path (Witcher).
lupus_hegemonia Posted December 15, 2018 Author Posted December 15, 2018 I see... As I thought so - Witcher 3 is (visually) as Skyrim SE should be... but it won't be Skyrim, ever. What I mean? OPENED WORLD AND DOING WHATEVER YOU WANT, right? So, it's the story of that grey-hair fella, not NO ONE's else story (as Skyrim can be)... Hmm, that's probably why modders don't prefer Witcher 3 too much. I'll play it... but since I never stopped modding, I'll be in Skyrim world mostly.

Not intending to spoil anything, but if it suits you and you don't mind the extra time effort: start with Witcher 1, play 2 and after that 3. And even better: get the books and read them first to get the whole picture. But that's something you heard from someone who read them twice (at least) before even the first game was published.
lupus_hegemonia Posted December 15, 2018 Author Posted December 15, 2018 Nah... I'm not so fan of that grey-hair dude. I just was looking for an alternative "Skyrim-like" huge world's RPG.

Oblivion I'm afraid that all the Witcher3 story telling in game (cutscenes, remarks, books, easter eggs) wouldn't be especially loved by you. ?

Haha yes I'm totally with you, I don't like that grey-hair dude at all! Why are there so many games with grey-hair dudes anyway? Witcher, Metal Gear 5, Gothic, Two Worlds etc etc. I haven't been able to get into the Witcher very far because I really don't like that it was made with only Geralt in mind. It's a lovely open world and could have so much potential for different stories. I do have some of the Witcher clothing mods for Skyrim, those are worth looking into if you don't know of them. Otherwise I play Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Dead or Alive and some others for the sex appeal. Recently installed mods to Metal Gear 5 to replace grey-hair dude Snake with Quiet (the sexy sniper) which means I may actually get around to finishing that game!
lupus_hegemonia Posted December 17, 2018 Author Posted December 17, 2018 Its not the grey hair itself (I'm also, now, grey haired). Its just I don't like THAT SPECIFIC DUDE. I want a Nord melee attack warrior, like Ragnar (Viking TV series). I don't like magic and senses and all that crap. But TO SURVIVE in W3, you need to play as "Witcher", not as classic warrior. And I don't like to be that (visual) way - I want different look, different name, etc. So, I need a... Skyrim... with W3 graphics! Lol.
Inajira Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 I've got a fair amount of grey hair too. Yes another W3 thing is the unnecessary fussing with the oils and potions. I don't want the busywork before fights etc. I play wizards only here and there in crpgs but they need to focus on the awesome, not inventory management. And yeah I've longed to see what a Skyrim with W3 graphics would look like!

Of course, you'll only have one main character to play in the latter but many different play styles though not all are equally viable.

Those pre-fighting activities, proper planning, setting up a trap, making sure to achieve absolute domination of a terrible monster, ... those are an important part in the life of a witcher, even highly important if you dive into the tale and immerse yourself in one the various witcher schools and fighting techniques. Edit: The Witcher 1 intro sequence shows that aspect of proper planning in all its purity. Spoiler How to dominate in a fight with a terrible monster without killing it ? And I can only +1 to what @FauxFurry recommended for a sword(-only) oriented playstyle
