CTD when approaching riverwood

Hey everyone, started a new game and whenever I approach riverwood my game ctd. I tried disabling some mods that I had recently added, sorting everything with loot and cleaning with tes5edit then starting another new game, and that did nothing. If I avoid riverwood it runs fine, but as soon as its in sight it crashes. Any advice appreciated

Hi. Sometimes i have problems like this, when you approach any location in Skyrim (even dungeons) and my game CTD, usually it help to just wait 24 hours or visit that location later.

On a first pass of your load order it looks generally clean. If I had your problem I would disable hentai creatures and tick XPMSE off. Eliminating the .esp for XPMSE does NOT eradicate the skeleton. It will disable the MCM menu however. Unless you have a mod that requires the MCM menu (and to my knowledge that is only dual sheath redux) it is safe to turn off XPMSE.esp.

 

If that doesn't work please load a papyrus log that includes the crash. If you don't know how to do that there are instructions in my blog. There is a link to my blog in my signature.

those might cause issues:

> move Purewaters at the end of your load order => mods that change landscape close to water might conflict with Purewaters and cause CTD

 

> you use 2 weather mods: ELFX weathers and Climates of Tamriel => those might conflict and cause CTD, use only one weather overhaul (unless there are patches, scratch that, use only one^^)

 

> if you dont use any memory allocator you might just run out of skyrim useable RAM (this one may help: skse ini for lazy users)

 

> on a new game Riverwood is the first town with children, check if your children replacer is installed right and the load order is correct (like main mod first and below the patches)

Do any of your follower mods spawn their NPC in Riverwood?

 

Should you be using SK Children of the Sky.esm and SK Vanilla Child Replacer.esp. I thought SkyKids and CotS were two different replacers. (I might be wrong though).

SKSE.ini tweak pretty much fixes 80 percent of CTD and Freezes, give it a try
