I recently got AFT, as a mod and it lets me use any NPC as a follower. I also have a Mod that replaces vanilla hair with a random KS hair style. I would like to change the hair an other features on a follower. is this even possible?

Thanks for any response!

As far as I know, racemenu is limited for the player character. But there are other means to edit NPC. It just depends on how experienced you feel yourself with the various tools.

Eg for switching  hair on a NPC, personally I would use TES5Edit since it it just a single entry to edit.

But you can mess up alot with T5E,  so I won't recommend it for a beginner.

Dark face bug when I do this. CK or this to change npcs for me. Wigs are the only way to do it in game.

there are mods on Nexus with the power of CK... meaning you are able to change the look of a npc with the help of presets and racemenu (ingamestyle)... there are other mods to change bodies/textures for any npc (ingamestyle)... and others, which will give you the power to change the hair... so many, that it is better you have to do a little research for your own to give you all the power you want to have...

all the mentioned changes are ingame... meaning inside a given savegame... deleting this savegame meaning the changes are lost... permanently changes has to be done with TesVEdit or Creation Kit... there are some FollowerCreationKits on nexus for this task, too...

game don't load npc haircolor on hair armors

npc have hair1

you want to give him hair2?

you copy paste hair2 in the npc head nif, rename it to hair1, and that's all

as long as it have the same name, it's fine

all hairs are called hair

the one in the head nif is a dummy

that is replaced the first time the npc is load, and can be replaced anytime in game

game want a mesh named hair, it have it, there's no problem

I guess that depends on the source of the hairstyle.  The face bug is usually an indicator of a missing facegendata for the modded esp/NPC.

For more complex edits I discovered the Skyrim NPC editor recently.   https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/4554

Looks far more comfortable and works in my test game.

Though I didn't use it in my play game, yet.

The easyest way:

Open race menu and save your char there, then use a preset or make a char as you like, if you finish leave race menu

then copy your self and place him or her near to you with the command player.placeatme playerID

and if you dont like the result use command disable and try again but if you like the result

open again race menu and load back your main char, leave race menu and use AFT on your clone

and you are ready to go ?
