steelpanther24 Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Spoiler It is either a testament to Mr. Lightfoot's musical talents or simple luck in picking a compelling story to sing about that made the Edmund Fitzgerald a household name. In terms of wrecks, it is tragic, no doubt, but it is not the biggest nor the worst accident.
AKM Posted October 13, 2019 Posted October 13, 2019 Would you believe that I was looking for something neutral? Something non-biased, non-political, etc. and so on? I still wanted something that described me in some way shape or form, and somehow ended up with one of the most well known tools of death known to man. Yeah, how's THAT for neutral and non-political? HA! "...the AKM is the most ubiquitous variant of the entire AK series of firearms and it has found widespread use with most member states of the former Warsaw Pact and its African and Asian allies as well as being widely exported and produced in many other countries." ...So much so that it takes very little effort today to find U.S. made 5.56x54mm NATO (rather than the original 7.62x39mm Soviet original) chambered AK patterned weapons in the U.S.. This improvement on the original (in some ways; a few parts swaps that made it slightly lighter, as well as the fact that with few exceptions all parts are interchangeable with other examples of the same model, regardless of who made them [making spare parts abundant and thus prices cheap]) is still an exceptionally simple design, able to be used by the most dimwitted, that was specifically designed, tested, and built for battlefield conditions; something the U.S. made M-16 sorely lacks. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AKM https://www.guns.com/news/review/best-ak-milled-vs-stamped
EvilReFlex Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 I hate my Name, but I used it over the years on so many sites... ? First was only "ReFlex", I have chosen this name because I had really good reflexes in game like Quake 2-3 or later in RTCW. Sometimes I got kicked from a Server because people thought I was cheating. ? The story behind the "Evil" is a bit funny, I made a few levels for quake 3 arena and my last level had own Bots and I gave one of the Bots the Name "EvilReFlex", later I startet to use the name because "Reflex" was often already taken on sites or games.
Priest Kitty Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 I thought it would be funny if a 6ft tall man ironically called himself the cutest damn thing in the world on the internet, and so I became "Kitty".
monkeymenace Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 It is a story in two parts. I got the nickname "Monkey" from friends growing up being as I was quite the tree climber and loved doing so at every opportunity. Having a love of bananas didn't help much in that regard. The entirety of the name came together in my teens after seeing a C.N.N. report titled "The monkey menace in New Delhi". When I read that title I thought to myself "but I was never in New Delhi" and I chuckled. I shouldn't have done this, as the others that were watching the article thought I was laughing at the temple monkeys hurting tourists. but the goofy thought stuck with me and I started using this moniker (hehe) since. it reminds me to never be too silly nor to be overly serious.
Dinomannen Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Part 1 shortened: When i was 16, 2 of my friends forgot my name while being drunk and talking about me, then suddenly one of them blurted out "Dino" and that nickname was born. Part 2: I had then been using that nickname everywhere (MSN, Skype, Forums etc...), then when i got an xbox 360 the gamertag "Dino" was taken (No suprise) so i had to find a different one. I suddenly got the idea to add 'mannen' behind (In nowegian mannen means man) so i was now Dinomannen (Dino man). And now that is the online nick everywhere. I still go by Dino IRL 15 years later. One of my now best friends actually thought for 3 years my name was Dino.
