Which means that the intro quest is setup and started. So why doesn't it work then?

ooooh wait! I just realized something.

You said you tried the vanilla version as well right? Did you start a completely new game with the "full" version or did you continue from a save where the vanilla version was enabled?

If so, could you try making a clean save just to make sure that there are no "relics" left over? I have posted how to make a clean save a few post before this (I think?). You can definitely find how to do it in the main mod description under the "Updating" part.

It just doesn't really help finding out what the issue is though. From the log I see:
 

 

Which means that the intro quest is setup and started. So why doesn't it work then?

Did you get the notification that you discovered the village and to go speak to the innkeeper?

 

 

 

Yep the quest pops up as usual but no follow up and well vanilla hair instead of KS Hair, nothing else there to mention i'm aifraid

If so, could you try making a clean save just to make sure that there are no "relics" left over? I have posted how to make a clean save a few post before this (I think?). You can definitely find how to do it in the main mod description under the "Updating" part.

 

Both tests were new characters. i doubt we are dealing with relics but i can give it a try none the less

If they were completely new characters then it is extremely unlikely that there are relics. But yeah, you could try anyway.

 

You said you use MO. Does it show that Cocksmen is overwriting anything? Are they any conflicts apart from the Skyrim NPCs that are changed?

Also, the modlist you posted, is that the left list (installation order) or the right list (plugin order)?

Right now I am just mystified why you get vanilla hair when you have KS hair installed. And that the quest doesn't progress *rubs chin*

Ehm yeah... so I finally got to get my Skyrim install to actually start again (Tip: Don't try Vortex out of curiosity. It WILL screw up you fully functioning MO2 installation ? )

Sooo, I went to Cocksmen to check it out and... vanilla hair! So obviously I messed up the guy's hair (they gave me dirty looks too, the prissy queens). I will correct that asap and upload a new version with the KS hair.

 

As far as the quest goes, that worked and progressed nicely for me, so I have absolutely no idea why it wouldn't function for you. I will have a look at the scripts while I am giving the guys back their "product" enhanced hair back.

in that case i will just experiment further. i thought that the quest error must be on my end. also is it intended to fast travel there, because i'm able to do so from the very start and if i recall correct i should not be able to (don't worry i tested it if it changes something to walk there instead of fast travelling and the result was the same).

I just uploaded the new version. I also recompiled all the scripts in case something had gone wrong before. So, please try the new version and see if this solved the problems. You will have to do a clean save/ new character again though. Sorry about that.

I started a new game with v1.3 installed, and came across Thonnir in Morthal with a blackface.  Moved this mod to the bottom of the load order, and he still had blackface.  Uninstalled mod, no more blackface.  I don't know all of the vanilla characters changed by this mod, so I can't say which ones aside from Thonnir might be bugged (I'm pretty sure Orgnar is changed by this mod, and he was fine).  I then went to the village and of the guys I came across, just Vidkun had blackface.  Switched to v1.1 Vanilla for now, as they don't have blackface in that one.

I'm First time user of Cocksmen Villiage.

 

Using the vanilla 1.1 I played up to:

Found Village.



Met the Twins from the Inn.

Went to Falkreath and met the brothers.

Returned to Cocksmen Villiage and visited the statue.

Went to Big Cock Manor and met 3 residents there.

 

At which point after meeting the last 3 residents I didn't appear to have any further objectives in my journal.

Was wondering if I'm on the right track and I need explore or progress the game a bit further to progress things more Cocksmen Villiage?

 

Was not long after this I decide to add and change things in my game load order.

I'll be starting again, so I thought I'd check that things are going as meant to before starting again.

Hmm, odd that only Thonnir and Vidkun have blackface then.  Thonnir is one of the vanilla game guys that have been changed. And indeed Orgnar is one of them, as is Sigurd in Whiterun. So if they were ok and Thonnir is not, that is just odd. I will have a look at the facegen files and let you know if or how you can resolve it yourself. Do you use a mod manager? if so, which one, so I can give appropriate advice.

Hi Smashly,

 

After the introduction quest (which you completed), there is a 24-hour pause in the mod. So it is correct that you don't have any objectives or quest markers for a while. The quest will give you a notification when everything has been set up for the rest of the quests. Just do some other quests or um... enjoy the guys in the village for a while. Or you can wait or sleep for 24 hours. Sometimes it can take a bit longer that 24 in-game hours, so be patient. It will progress.

*sigh* So yeah, I found out what the problem may be. I didn't put the facegen files into the correct folder. I will upload a patch that will hopefully correct the issue. Just download the patch and let it overwrite the facegen files (meshes and textures).

 

Please let me know if that corrects your problem?

Ok, the patch fixed Thonnir but did not fix Vidkun, though Vidkun does have his hair and eyes correctly colored, its just the skin of his face is black/brown.  I use NMM, but let LOOT sort my load order.  I manually placed this mod at the very bottom with my own metadata so LOOT doesn't touch it.

 

edit: It looks like a vanilla hairstyle, not a ks hair, if that helps.

I have no idea why Vidkun is apparently not updated from v 1.2. I guess something went wrong with his facegen. So I have uploaded a new patch just now (same name, re-download it). I have regenerated ALL the facegen files, so hopefully all the guys, including the skyrim ones, will no longer have blackface and correct hair. The altered guys from Skyrim all have vanilla hair, not KS hair. All the men in the Village have KS hair or a (vanilla) shaved head.

Than you Vachnic for taking the time to explain.
Have started my new play through and am trying to make my way over to the village.
Just a bit awkward as I have nieces and nephews hovering around while I play atm.
So I have had to play PG style since my fresh start.
Was hard enough explaining what the dragons on the loading screens were doing (from one of the creature mods).
So I really didn't feel like explaining what goes on in Cocksmen Village to a group of 5~7 yo kids. lol

Unfortunately, Vidkun still has black face.  I don't think he likes you lol.  It's just one guy, so don't sweat it.  Take your time figuring it out.  Meanwhile I'm going to play this quest as I've only just started it.

Well, I have been testing and I can't seem to replicate the blackface of Vidkun. In my game he looks as he should. So I honestly have no idea why you should get a blackface for him (and just him).

Before I uploaded the renewed patch, I regenerated the facegen files, I checked the textures and meshes externally and found no (obvious) errors. So yeah, I am stumped.

Have you tried starting a new game after the patch? or gone back to before you met Vidkun? That is the only thing I can think of really. Maybe a so-called relic preventing Vidkun to look as he should.

I am very sorry this is happening to you though. If my suggestions still cause him to have blackface, I hope it at least isn't to jarring.

Hmm yes. Playing this quest around kids is not a good idea. You could always provide them with blindfolds? ;)

I got the quest started and came across Fanar who also has blackface, so I started a new game with v1.4, and Vidkun and Fanar still have blackface.  I don't know what is happening in my game if in yours you don't see it :(  It's probably something with the mods I'm using, though I am at a loss as to what it could be.

 

I'm going to go back to v1.1 where they are all vanilla and start a new game.  So far as I can tell with v1.1, no one has blackface.  Thank you for taking the time to look into it.
