The Story of the Red Witch
Chapter Fourteen: Coming to Grips
Rosalie: Listen, I may have followed you this far, but I’m not moving another step until you tell me what happened! And if it’s not worth a damn…
Rosalie: I think I may have to sever ties with you.
Silas: *sigh* I get it I get it. I guess I should start from the beginning…
Rosalie: Yeah, I ‘guess’ you should.
Silas: Before I begin I have to ask, do you remember how it felt when you turn? I mean, I know you do… but do you really?
Rosalie: I… I wasn’t well then… I was beaten, bruised… When Darius gave me his blood, all I remember is pain… everywhere. It felt like my insides were on fire, and it was days before I felt better…
Silas: I see… that would account for why you weren’t able to take his blood correctly…
Rosalie: THIS ISN’T ABOUT ME! Start talking before I seriously decide to hurt you!
Silas: So you didn’t lash out at anything? You were able to stay in control—
Rosalie gave him a stern look, and Silas sighed.
Silas: …Okay, okay...
Silas: I don’t know how much you know of my Clan, if anything, but I was turned approximately 300 years ago by… Tinira…
Silas: She’s… she’s a bitch through and through. I not only knew that from experience, but through the stories that older vampires had told me over the years…
Silas: Anyway, when I was still mortal, I happened to be a soldier and a werewolf… a proud soldier and werewolf.
Silas: Tinira knew this, but I don’t know if when she turned me, she knew the disease would hold during the full moon? I know that she’s shrewd… but is she THAT calculating? Did she really foresee…
Rosalie: What... what are you talking about?
Silas: On the night of the full moon… I transformed into a monster. It felt as if my skin was peeled away and I couldn’t think straight…
Rosalie: W-wait!! How in the world did your werewolf blood still transform you? No… How were you even able to be turned in the first place!?
Silas: The Volstikars… Our… Their bloodline isn’t normal. Not weak against the sun, insanely strong at night, able to overcome any immunity…
Silas: My werewolf blood didn’t stick… rather, before the disease fully took I started to transform into a werewolf. However, before the transformation could complete… Something happened.
Silas: I could feel my connection with Hircine’s gift fading away and something more… dark and corrupting take its place.
Silas: I felt sharp… powerful… and hungry. I had never known a hunger like that before or afterwards for that matter.
Silas: I don’t remember when or how I was able to satiate that hunger, but when I did I headed straight for my wife…
Silas: As soon as I saw her eyes conflicting feeling went through my head. Hug her. Feed. Run away. Kill her. I couldn’t control anything, but I was a witness to everything…
Silas: I tried… I fucking tried Rose… but… I wasn’t strong enough… I couldn’t do anything to… I… I had to fucking watch as I—
Rosalie suddenly held Silas close and rubbed his back soothingly.
Silas: I loved her, Rose… more than anything else in the world. I loved Lisaly, and yet I—
Rosalie felt something wet on her shoulder and felt a chill go down her spine.
Rosalie: It’s fine… It’s fine. I… I didn’t… I know it must have been hard for you…
Rosalie gave him a light punch in the chest.
Rosalie: H-hey, cheer up! It’s not like you’re the only one who’s ever killed their spouse. I mean sure, mine was planned out and out of rage, but—
Silas pulled away from Rosalie and held back a laugh.
Silas: Are you seriously trying to bond with me over us being spousal murders?
Rosalie got to her feet and shrugged.
Rosalie: *grins* It’s better than us being brooding vampires! Now I know it’s hard but stop moping around! We’ve got a whole eternity ahead of us!!
Silas got to his feet as well and laughed as he felt a weight lift from his shoulders.
Silas: Yeah… you’re one hundred percent right Sis…
Meanwhile not too far outside of Solitude…
Serana: Liri, please reconsider! Don’t overlook the benefits of—
Liri: There’s nothing to ‘reconsider’ you ancient vampire!
Serana continued to follow behind Liri until the Nord came to a stop before Solitude’s gates.
Liri: I understand that you’ve thought about this, and you probably knew how I would react…
Serana: I said you weren’t going to like it. I also didn’t want to bring it up, but you kept questioning me about it…
Liri: If you knew I wasn’t going to like it, then you shouldn’t be so hard pressed for me to change my mind!
Liri turned around and glared at Serana.
Liri: Like seriously, did you think for one second that I’d entertain the thought of having my memories of Innis being removed?
Serana: I… I know. But the next time she comes around… If you don’t fight back—
Liri: DON’T YOU THINK I KNOW THAT?! Don’t you think I know what she’ll do to me…
Serana: So what? If I attack her, you’ll attack me. If she attacks either of us, you’ll do nothing. We’ll die! You do know this?
Liri averted her eyes and sighed.
Liri: Yes… I know… Now let’s continue. We’re almost there.
Serana: Are you truly okay with this?
Liri: I am.
Serana: *sigh* Then I think it’s time we part ways.
Serana: Look, I’m grateful that you woke me up, but I’m not about to die meaninglessly. Especially for someone who clearly doesn’t like or trust me.
Liri stopped and laughed.
Liri: Did you really think I’d let you go before I found out why that Elder Scroll of yours messed with my flow of Magicka?
Serana blinked in surprise of her question.
Serana: You… So you KNEW what this was? Why didn’t you say anything?
Liri: *shrug* It’s not mine and I don’t want it, so I didn’t think it’d be polite to bring it up. *grins* However, that doesn’t mean I wasn’t interested.
Serana: Interested or not, I’m not handing it to you.
Liri: I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Serana: *glare* I also won’t allow myself to be killed for no reason. Tell Silas I said—
Liri: You can tell him yourself. I was tasked with finding you and bringing you back. Just… have a talk with Silas. He might a bit…
Liri thought of the kiss that she and the vampire had shared and blushed.
Liri: A-a-anyways, just go talk to him. It can be the last favor you do for me.
Serana: *smirk* I don’t need your memories or to read your mind to tell that there’s something between you two.
Liri: T-there isn’t! It’s not like he’s… he’s…
Serana saw Liri’s sullen face smiled sadly.
Serana: Fine, I’ll meet him. If he’s looking for me, then he must have matured for a bit. So where is the fabled Volstikar Manor?
It didn’t take the pair long to get to arrive at Proudspire Manor, but unknown why to her companion, Liri stopped before they actually were in front of the manor…
Serana: What’s wrong? I can feel your hatred, your contempt for this place and its occupants, but if we’re just going to talk to Silas—
Liri: *sigh* I… I need to clear my head.
Serana: Clear your head? For what?
Liri: You… you’re right, Serana. If… No, WHEN Innis comes back, I can’t simply roll over again. I can’t let her have her way with me. But—
Serana gave Liri a thumbs up.
Serana: Say no more. I’ll talk with Silas alone then, and wait for you here.
Serana suddenly embraced Liri who reciprocated the motion.
Serana: No matter what you decide, I’ll support you for as long as I’m able to.
Liri pulled back and nodded.
Liri: I know, thank you Serana… The manor is right there
The two embraced once more, and then went off in different directions.
Liri had walked around Solitude aimlessly for a couple of minutes, before finding herself outside of the Temple of the Divines.
She looked at the doors of the temple and frowned.
Liri: (Just what am I doing here… The Divines don’t give a damn about me. I mean, just look at my current situation…)
Liri shook her head and exhaled deeply.
Liri: No… If they’d truly given up on me I’d be dead… No worse, I’d still be at the whim of my Clan…
Liri entered the temple and ignored everyone that who seemed to be trying to talk to her as she made a beeline for the alters of the Divines…
As soon as she got there, Liri knelt before them and closed her eyes.
Liri: Divines… I lower myself before you now, as I am in need of your guidance…
Liri: I… I don’t know what to do… I need to overcome my weakness… My inherent need to protect my sister no matter the cost, but it’s all I know… it’s all I’ve ever known…
Liri: It’s the one constant in my life… The driving force behind everything I do… Did I make a mistake? Did I go wrong somewhere, and if so, how do I get things back to where they once were?
Liri hung her head and couldn’t stop it as the tears began to flow from her eyes.
Liri: I just want us to be a family again! Divines, I’m not asking for a miracle! I just…
???: You’ve lived a rough life, but under the Divine’s watch who hasn’t?
Liri’s eyes snapped open. She whipped around and stared at the being before her, while gathering Magicka in both of her hands.
Liri: (How in the world did I let someone… something this big sneak up behind me?)
???: Blessings of the Divines be upon your weary soul. You seek liberation from the burden set up you from the Divines, but they have never tasked us with more than we could handle.
Liri dispelled her Magicka. She heard the creature’s words, but with its appearance things just weren’t registering.
Liri: Aren’t… aren’t you a Daedra? Shor’s bones, what are you doing here?
???: I am no Daedra. I am Priscilla, Stendarr’s avatar of Divine and all-encompassing mercy.
Priscilla: You said that you want things to return to the past, but the Divines look ever forward. It is by Mara’s love and Stendarr’s mercy that you are still alive when others have fallen.
Liri swatted her hand away.
Liri: By that logic, I should just do as Serana said! What kind of higher being would force someone to do that? Tell me! Which of your so called Divine’s is that cruel!!?
Priscilla: Mara knows your love for your sister is true, but you are doing yourself a great injustice. It is illogical to disregard costs in every situation.
Priscilla: You believe yourself to be merciful, but you are only hurting both you and your sibling by living in the past. You’ve both grown, maybe you should show one another by how much?
Liri looked into the woman’s eyes and saw a lack of judgement in them.
Liri: (It’s like she doesn’t know any better and is just is just spouting off what she’s interpreted her teachings to mean.)
Liri: So you’re telling me… that I need to change? That I need to stop treating Innis as if she were the same little girl I had to protect when we were young?
Priscilla: Julianos knows your predicament and shall give you the wisdom and clarity needed when the time comes. You have but to accept them.
Liri laughed which got an odd look from Priscilla.
Liri: It’s… it’s nothing. I’m just surprised that in a place like this a Daedra of all people was able to give me advice.
Priscilla: *frowns* But I’m not a Daedra. I’m Stendarr’s—
Liri: Right right, you’re Stendarr’s avatar or whatever. Heh, sorry.
Liri briskly walked past Priscilla and headed towards the temple’s exit, she knew what she had to do, but whether she could do it or not was another matter.
Liri stopped as she came to the temple’s entrance and turned back towards the alters and Priscilla.
Liri: Thank you so much for your advice!!
Priscilla: *bows* Any time. Blessings of the Divines be upon you. May you always walk in the light, and make sure not to consort with any Daedra or abominations that prey on mortals.
Liri nodded as she stifled yet another laugh and exited from the holy place just to proceed right back towards a lair of a Clan of those said ‘abominations’…

Priscilla isn't my character. She belongs to agghgahd. He recently had something of a mass exodus of all of his content on tumblr, however if anyone wants her you can find her at the link below:
