245781 Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Considering getting either SE or Legendary edition, how far behind is SE in terms of modding?

I haven't played either for a while now. So, someone else can probably outline it better. But, I think that it depends on how you want to mod it. SE is way more stable for modding. You will easily spend 4 times + the amount of time troubleshooting mods that cause crashes in oldrim compared to SE. To me, that is a pretty big selling point that is difficult for certain mod availability to overcome. If you are mainly focused on vanilla gameplay, I think that SE is easily the way to go. If you mainly want to make it an adult game, I think there are still some things missing in SE that make it a closer call.
Sarge Misfit Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 The modding for SE is coming along. The biggest problem, from what I can tell, is simply the lack of SKSE64 (haven't checked where that's at in awhile). After that, it will only take whatever amount of time for there to be a ton of mods for SE as there is for LE. For now, if you want mods that use a lot of scripts, LE might be your best bet.

SKSE64 is available and works well, though it's still labeled as an alpha build. Several critical SKSE-dependent mods, including SKYUI, are also now available. http://skse.silverlock.org/ Sex Lab SE is in beta with minimal bugs. The current hold-up is stuff like jcontainers and HDT-SMP/collision, which is all in alpha and requires a few hoops to jump through to use right now. Plus there aren't nearly as many mods ported. Yet. Special Edition is far more stable, in general. It has a wealth of quality mods available. Once all the adult mods catch up, it'll be on a far better platform. I'd definitely encourage people to jump to Special Edition.
27X Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 SSE is about two years to a year behind in having 1:1 equivalents.

Malo Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 There's a very useful stickied thread showing you exactly how far along SSE modding is in relation to all the major mods used and developed here. https://www.loverslab.com/topic/94228-sse-conversion-tracking-mar-28-rev-16/
gregathit Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Please use existing threads when possible: https://www.loverslab.com/topic/94096-should-i-switch-from-oldrim-to-se/ And the thread listed in the post above.
