Guest Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 I know this sounds crazy and obviously there are a lot of people that don't use wicked whims, but it truly seems like wick whims early addition of sex to the Sims 4 (previous games took a few more years for such mods to arrive) brought a LOT of attention to the game for people who might not have thought of playing it before. Plus on top of that it seems almost everybody (mostly girls) I know in real life have used, tried or using wicked whims to some extent. Now I'm not saying the game was "saved" in the sense that it was it such trouble that without wicked whims in the Sims 4 would have been long forgotten because thats not true. But I truly do wonder how much influence the mod has brought elevating its long term sales. Sex sells after all, plus you only have to look at youtube to see the most popular videos feature the mod in some way - thats serious influence. So what do you think, do you think the Sims 4's continued success partially lies in the fact of this mods popularity? I truly wonder what they say about it at Maxis... Also on that note I have to admit I'm curious if the money Turbo makes is sometimes more then they make selling the game or maybe an expansion month to month...on that note EA/Maxis mods posted that they support patreon as long as its eventually released for free preferably within 2-3 weeks...too bad not all the animators got that message lol. Regardless on the flip side its good that turbo still works on it, because I believe that if Maxis was to have made this mod as a gamepack (for the sake of argument) it wouldn't have seen the continued growth it has had by Turbo. It also makes me wonder if they will make the future Sims games a LOT harder to mod for to avoid a sex mod again...but going back to the topic, if this mod has helped sell copies of the Sims 4 - it might be only further encouraged (to be created indirectly) for future games until it becomes too realistic (aka media backlash and EA steps in to remove modding capabilities - but I don't see that for a long time Sims 6 VR or something...) SOOOoo what do you think - has wicked whims allowed for the Sims 4 to prosper?
Popular Post parzysty Posted February 10, 2018 Popular Post Posted February 10, 2018 Modding in general saved it. Would be much better if people wouldn't have had to figure it out all by themselves and make their own tools just to add recolors into the game. 26

Their clothes are boring and the furniture are really weird! I can't even imagine to wear one of that shirts or pants, and the "rich" furnishing is so gross, totally bad taste. The game, even with all the expansions and stuff packs, is a base: without the mods it's empty. You can play 4 hours, and then? Restart another 4! New fam, new home, new job and get bored again. At least the mods gave us freedom and fun, we can build much bigger stories, even if we have to fuck around the town with WW, or kill everyone rejected us with serial killer mod. 22
Popular Post MidnightCupcakes Posted February 11, 2018 Popular Post Posted February 11, 2018 I honestly would not even play the Sims 4 without WickedWhims so it saved it in my case 37
FauxFurry Posted February 11, 2018 Posted February 11, 2018 Parzysty has the right of it, something which one can be sure than employees on both the creative end and the management end of EA Maxis alike are well aware of at this point, not that they were not aware of it before. It is why they pioneered on the Paid Mod front (with The Sims 3 marketplace) and learned that their target demographic rejected it just the same as the 'hardcore' gamers would later if they didn't respond more strongly. It is why there are no micro-transactions or paid mods hosted on any EA run site for The Sims 4 right now. Every now and then, they throw a few subtle and not so subtle acknowledgements of the mods which increase the popularity and thus profitability of their product by adding content which enhances its appeal to a sub-section of the market that are considered radioactive to companies who have an obligation to their shareholders to project a relatively 'family friendly' image. 2
icyhugs Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 of cos it saved the games! Non adult modes saved the game from too few male hair and clothing. Adult mods saved the desperate housegays of the Sims world XDDDD 1
kiki7887 Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 Hmm, for me, i actually came to Sims 4 thanks to LL and WW. But after time, i must say, i could live without WW. Its not even implemented much seamless, sometimes glitches out cancels all queues, like going to work etc. Its definitely not bad to have, tho. I started not long ago, with all dlcs and packs together. So my point of view might be different from others. I have best time with art and maxed music skills, singing etc. Its real dope, beautifuly done. Being heavily art inspired person myself, i found it really amazing - like going with my sim to sing duet with someone really good, or play dnb on party, piano, everything. My sims have stellar carriers, and working from home, f.e. as art critic, is so well done. Also totally loving my perfectly trained dogs (adorable white boxers), kind of happy theres no bestiality, because interaction with animals is damn well done, and touches my emotions too much. Note that i am not prudent, and played through all skyrim slaverun submissive quest, and many other mods and no problem. Difference is - its just sex. I get too involved with my sims, its not only sex, its emotions, and its "life". Silly me, maybe, maybe not. For me, Sims 4 at this state, dont really need it. If it would be implemented as replacement of woohoo, that would be more seamless and fitting. Now its just, ask for animations (some are quite well done, mia animations are my fave) with minor happy moodlet + naturism "quest". Not sure if i should use some more mods, to make it more in depth. I am using only WW + lots of animations. Other mods like professions, have huge threads about bugs and problems. Scared of it. Game feels sometimes kind of buggy even without any mod, which is sad, with WW i still get ocassional error popup, but nothing really happened (except canceling top important queues), seems it works fine. I think it needs time. But if there are some mods worth it, i would try. I like that idea perverted pornstar career on drugs and all, i could do some sim, and not get emotionally involved in her, but when i started investigating what i need, it was just wall of "not working now" bugs etc. I dont know how saves works, it all seems to affect all households around etc, so i am scared of blind experimenting, cause i am pretty happy with my state of game. Feel free to recommend something, i am open to trying. 2
Edrin Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 Vanilla Sims ...AND an Adult Version. 2nd Life without the griefers 1
kiki7887 Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 Adult version = woohoo replaced by ww that would be pretty cool, woohoo animations are cute, but i could live without them, changing them into ww animation system, no need anything more, i can live without naturism... well it makes them all the time naked after time, its bit boring, i turned it off 2
Guest Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 It definitely played a part! However, the thing that really saved it for me was MCCC. If modders weren't here making things, I would have abandoned The Sims 4 by now.
benitoitaly Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 perfect case of EA murdering everything they touch...

There's a reason they were voted the "Worst Company in America"... twice. That said, this game isn't completely destroyed by their greed. They have done worse.

Only thing what totally drives me mad, that i command one sim to do something, and go somewhere outside with another sim, and they simply abandon it, doing w/e nothing. But i guess, thats how game work, theres no mod for this, right? 1
Maria Stellina Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 For me it's also the modding which saved Sims 4 for me. I'm much to old for that normal comic style, I hate this childish look of the hair, the interior of the lots ... I changed that completely in a kind of standard save slot by user made households and lots ? And I do love WW which is why I'm supporting Turbo on Patreon! But I also would wish to have the sex (or let's say the realistic!) system more integrated in the normal gameplay. It can get a little stressful when trying to play Sims in a "realistic" role play way. But because of the technique of the game that will never be possible I think. (I'd be already satisfied if we could have the control a little bit more "Sims-like", dear Turbo ? Let us put ourselfs in the position of a Sim: There's is this hot Sim in front of our Sim ... We've been flirting, no he/she is ripe to be picked ... We click on the other Sim, choose "Wicked…", or realistic "Ask for Sex", click than on the location like bed or floor, where we want to have sex and choose with the action wheel the type of sex and at last the animation ☺️) I can't say if I would still play Sims 4 without WW or the possibility of modding. But I can say: Without WW and modding I wouldn't have been returned to play Sims 4! 2
Mariana Soprano Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 I mostly like to use CAS or to style rooms / lots with CC for my personal TS4 gameplay like I did with TS3. But WW and all the wonderful animations are a wonderful method come down and to have fun in pauses or in lazy nights and the animations and facial expression are getting better and better with this awesome mod by this Turbodevil too ;-) We now got bouncing boobies (I like dancing simettes now much more), an animated tongue and penis... and there are so many nice CC to mod body and face like we like / prefer our sims. I guess the combination of mods maybe the biggest point, what could help TS4 to survive. 3
dailywalker Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 The Sims franchise has been around for 18 years. Mods have always been part of the game since the beginning. Modding the game is even encouraged and always has been. I just wonder how many people are now in the Video game industry because of this game. 3
Too_Funky1987 Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 yes, IMO it saved what was otherwise a boring game, there is too much perfection in S4 it's like a utopia...sex and drugs give it the realism it needs for us over 18s!! 2
calmy Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 I would've probably played it without WW a bit, but certainly at most half the time I play it now. Also, it was pretty easy to convince people from other games to get back into the sims with a nice topless selfie, photobombed by a gangbang in the background. So I wouldn't say "save it" , but increased its desirability by a lot (especially coupled with a few other mods, but WW it's a must).
REMI-XVII Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 Hell yes. WW adds levels to the game that EA has wet dreams about if they still can get it up 3
ClubSims2015 Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 Whicked Whims saved The Sims 4 for me......Modding in general does......Otherwise it would be so boring and elementary. I'm an adult so I like adult things.....Wicked Whims puts the Sims 4 on my level! 6
weredeer Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 i would have played this game for a month and been done without, and to be honest that is all i expected from %50 off base game. But once i discovered mods, that became the second game. I am still playing collect, refine, curate but i dont really play. The world is more of a sex diorama than a game, but it keeps me playing and even buying dlc. Without modding we cant have nice things. 4
Lover333 Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 I believe that the mods saved the Sims 4. Thanks to the creators of mods! It is because of the Sims 4 I learned what is mods (in the literal sense of the word). The game in the Sims 3 was so interesting for me that I did not even have to think about adding something to the game. For the first time I tried the Sims 4 year ago. And with horror removed the game. I did not like anything! And I continued to play in the Sims 3. I restarted the game in the Sims 4 in the fall, when I learned about the existence of mods. Without mods, I will not play. 1
Buddy16 Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 I think mods in general saved the sims, not only the sims 4 but also the sims 3. I think I'd never have played the sims 3 without nraas because let's face it the sims 3 was really shitty optimized
Lizzy chan Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 I wouldn't say saved it, more like it made it more realistic 1
LoungingJackson Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 The Laundry Stuff pack contains a whole line of "wicker whims" build-mode items. Shelving, rug, seating, and more.... include "wicker whims" in the names. Coincidence? LJ thinks not. LJ thinks it's a deep bow to Wicked Whims, and that WW is greatly appreciated by S4 game developers, who are constrained from providing sex mods ONLY by Corporate... Viva WW! 4
