RedRicker Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 Hello! I have ~240 mods at present. I'm using ICBINE4 for ENB, with fixes/edits to enblocal.ini, skyrim config files, etc. mentioned in the STEP guide and elsewhere, Load Game CTD Fix, Crash Fixes, and have optimised memory with MemoryBlockLog. I'm using LOOT, MO, Bashed Patches and Merged Patches. Master files as well as other mods are cleaned with TES5Edit. I've reinstalled a couple of times by now, haven't actually been able to play in the past two weeks My modwatch: https://modwat.ch/u/RedRicker/plugins PC specs: i7 Processor 2.4 Ghz 64 bit, 8GB RAM Nvidia GeForce 820M 2GB ENB and ICBINE4: enblocal.inienbseries.iniSweetFX_settings.txt 1) CTDs occur after maybe 2-3 days of game start, sometimes sooner. I can walk around windhelm, soltiudedocks, whiterun etc just fine. When I'm waiting or even otherwise, CTD. Only in the cities (even Morthal, maybe it's the horde of couriers?), I spent a lot of time in Riverwood and a dungeon. Papyrus isn't helpful but maybe the errors would show what's slowing it down? Papyrus.0.log 2) The game is slow (very slow in the crowded Candlehearth Inn at night) in the crowded areas and sometimes in the wilderness if it has many features. 3) Most of my female character presets, but never npc's, have a purple body. 4) There are few pink-purple rocks I can walk through, probably something not rendered or it's object not found by engine. I now choose to consider them 'magic rocks' and move on immersively haha. Not an issue. Pink Rocks bug.bmp 5) 1 in 40 times skyrim crashes on the main menu when I click new game. This has persisted since I had even ~30 mods. I know very little of UNP vs CBBE vs TBBP etc and knew nothing of it when I started the current build. I am certain that my modlist has conflicting mods because of that. I can't keep track of UNP vs CBBE across armor mods, follower mods and animations, or figure out how to square in TBBP etc into it. I also probably have some outdated performance optimization mods. I would also like to mention some things I learnt which others googling for them may find useful, even though I am still a noob: 1) Rigmor or Bruma, Wheels of Lull and Legacy of the Dragonborn wouldn't work for me despite much effort. 2) Rich Merchants doesn't work as intended when in a Bashed Patch; need to add it manually to the bottom. 3) Bijin AIO is complicated: install all dependencies, untick them in MO, install BijinAIO, move the dependencies manually to the BijinAIO folder, keep only the AIO ticked. 4) Stress testing the installed mods, after adding 5-8 of them. Start a new game, install all mods in the MCM menu. Use coc in console to go to the main towns, solitudedocks01, walk around the countryside and fight people, try sleeping, waiting, and if possible testing the mods just added at this stage. This can be truly painful though, if mods need to be researched again, installed, ran through loot, TES5Edit for Merged Patch, Wrye Smash, loot, and FNIS. I had been carefully adding mods iteratively, fixing CTDs, till I was satisifed at every stage. And then, just when I had 230 mods, few days in it would CTD. Is it okay to install (and delete once complete) quest mods mid playthrough if the authors haven't said anything about it? Would doing that improve stability and smoothness of the game? What do you guys think are the bottlenecks for my game right now - graphics or scripts, which mods? Comments on specific mods and advice in general would be awesome. I'd rather not go through reinstalling it again, at least not without more wisdom. It's my first post so please let me know if I should add something.
donttouchmethere Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 my guess is, your pink "rocks" are plants. Normaly "pink" means missing textures -> something wasnt installed right you can use mfg console to find out what mod loads you pink rocks, open console and target them -> info i use immersive creatures + rebirth monster + immersive weapons too. But i have some patches for them to work together and i cant find them your load order: - Rebirth Monster USLEEP Patch.esp - Rebirth Monster Immersive Weapons Patch.esp - Rebirth Monster SIC Patch.esp (for Skyrim Immersive Creatures) from what i have learned in my game, rebirth monster can produce CTD without patches or with conflicting "hostile NPC" AI overhauls or wrong load order, even if you are not in combat. But that happend only in dungeons on my setup and might not the same as your issue. and there was/is that immersive creature slaughterfish issue: Skyrim Immersive Creatures Patch on my setup i switch off in immersive creatures MCM : Additions Spawns -> Ore Golem (off, spammed too many errors in papyrus) -> water life (off, just made my poor followers try to hunt down some waterlife they never could catch + maybe this sloved the slaughterfish issue) Its not a good idea to deinstall mods during a running game, especialy huge Quest mods that changed a lot in skyrim and this information is baked into your savegame. Changing load order during running games is a good idea only if you want to find out how long it takes till you get CTDs. Adding mods at the end of your load order works fine, as long as its not conflicting with your other mods. Some follower mods can produce massive lag if they come with own skeleton. To get more performance i try to use only one body type in my game for my followers, for example with my UUNP setup i use UUNP, UNP and UNPB followers. Check what resolution your Armor/textures/follower mods have. High 4k textures can stress your setup a lot. Exclue your PC from abcsexlife, it doesnt support NPC->PC action, but it will try. Travellers of skyrim produced a lot of strain on my setup, i replaced it with populated roads (with the 50%less NPC option in MCM). you use ELFX weathers + AOS, but i cant see your AOS2_ELFX-Weather Patch. best to use only one weather overhaul! i see you use: - climates of tamriel - ELFX weather => use only one. if you want to keep bouth, just install ELFX without the weather plugin
Frankfranky Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 your problem is in your enblocal.ini. (I think) change your ReservedMemorySizeMB to 256 and see if that gets rid of the stutter. Otherwise try 512 or even 768 VideoMemorySizeMB to much much more. I have it set to 12000. (I have 8gb VRAM and 16gb RAM) but you definately want more than the 2000 you have set. If you are finding you are CTD after about 10-15 mins for absolutely no reason, open your taskmanager and look at the services. There is a Windows touch and handwriting service (I think it is called.) The Window's ink workspace was updated in the Fall Creators update and it doesn't play nicely with DX9 games. If you have this enabled, you will want to turn it off.
RedRicker Posted January 7, 2018 Author Posted January 7, 2018 Thanks a lot for the help guys! @donttouchmethere Thanks for the info on the patches, I didn't know they were needed as they weren't up on the mod page or in the inbuilt installer. They're all patched up now, ELFX weather disabled, travellers of skyrim removed (populated roads was giving CTD within a minute ) , marked my PC as excluded in sexlife. I dont think I would have installed textures for >1K, but going through all of the mods now would be a pain. I used mfg console on the rocks, no mod on it, it seems: type: ObjectTREE(TREE) ID: 000eb0a2 baseID: 000aae8a locate: skyrim.esm define: skyrim.esm@Frankfranky @Frankfranky Thanks! I set it to 768 and 8192 respectively and it SEEMS to have improved performance. I don't think that windows process is to blame for me. I also turned off npc vs npc interactions in Defeat. Uninstalled SLDialogues, Further Lover's Comfort, Immersive Horses. Installed SLpleasures, SLPrivacy. Changed shadow settings in skyrimprefs to fix a circle of darkness which would follow me. Game is a lot smoother, CTDs once every hour or so, maybe, need to test more. Waiting around doesn't CTD at all, so something was definitely fixed here. CTDs SEEM to be less frequent, they occur sometimes when I am fast travelling to a big city. Solitudedocks, which is heavy on graphics, is never a problem. Game is actually quite smooth Loading times for cities seem to have increased. Modwatch: https://modwat.ch/u/RedRicker/plugins Papyrus: Papyrus.0.log It would be awesome if someone could point out flaws in my use of skeletons or bodies, even if that isn't the cause of CTDs, it might cause lag. Again, a lot of thanks to you two Need to test more though.
Frankfranky Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 The skeleton thing is very simple. Only use one. The SAME one. EVERYWHERE. You almost definately want XPMSE. When you install this say no to any overwrites. If you use MO you can put this at the very bottom of the left pane, just to make sure, and make sure its plugin is low enough in your load order so nothing over writes it. Then go into every custom follower/race mod and check that they don't have a different skeleton inside. A lot do. Copy the skeleton from xpmse into these places. You can have different bodies if you want. The game is only going to use the one in data/meshes/actors/character, unless you have mod folders with their own body folder structures. You prob do. People say this will slow you down if you have lots of different bodies. I have a pretty beefy rig. I don't notice anything. (everyone has a different body in my game. It is kinda cool. It is a nightmare in the wardrobe department tho)
RedRicker Posted January 7, 2018 Author Posted January 7, 2018 Nope. I'm still CTDing every hour or so, randomly it seems. Sometimes the game runs smooth as butter, sometimes its slow and stuttering in the cities.
RW311 Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 When you removed those mods you probably won't get a stable game afterwards, cleaning the save might help but you have some guaranteed ctd problems in current game state. RedRicker Posted January 7, 2018 Author Posted January 7, 2018 Oh I started a new game after removing all that. Also, it's weird, but sometimes the game is laggy in the cities sometimes it's like butter, as I said before. I just walked into the Bannered Mare with 30npc's, a fight broke out, and the game was almost perfect. This is weird haha. Any suggestions of edits to config files/removal of heavy mods? I am considering removing interesting NPC's which I love, dunno if it will make a dent
RW311 Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 So that last papyrus log you posted is from current game?
RedRicker Posted January 7, 2018 Author Posted January 7, 2018 I rechecked it, and yes it does seem so. I'll upload the latest one just in case. This one CTD'd. Papyrus.0.log

Otherwise try 512 or even 768 VideoMemorySizeMB to much much more. I have it set to 12000. (I have 8gb VRAM and 16gb RAM) but you definately want more than the 2000 you have set. that's the swapping... you have 4gb ram whiterun need 2 gb near stable 1gb on way to riften, 500 more mb, 200, 300, 800 with reserved to 256, game don't unload anything leaving whiterun, leaving stable, leaving on way, leaving next with reserved to 2000, game don't unload anything leaving whiterun, but start doing it leaving stable, leaving on way, leaving next... you don't want the game to have 1 gb to unload to load 1 gb of new textures you want it to start unloading before (to not have to do all that at the same time) and you don't want the game to unload too much either bear charge you and send you flying, you are now looking at the river you pass 5 minutes earlier, if its ground texture is no longer in your ram, you have to reload that, useless waste of performance
RW311 Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Go to skyrim.ini make sure this is set bEnableTrace=0 under papyrus, no reason to have that on unless you are working on a mods scripts otherwise it will just cause you problems. Stack dump will cause massive stuttering and unresponsive gameplay features and eventually ctd and/or corrupt save files. You may want to search skryim stack dump so you can figure out what to do with your setup. Could be you have changed papyrus settings in skyrim.ini to some crazy value that was posted somewhere or you have set memory settings wrong for skse.ini but if you removed mods mid game then that is even more likely or if you just overloaded the game with too many mods running cell scans and cloak effects and your system can't keep up.
Frankfranky Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 Whiterun in my game needs more than 2gb. A lot more than 2gb. If I keep the task manager open and watch the enbHost, it starts at 3.8gb and goes up from there. I guess everyone's install is a bit different.
yatol Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 whiterun is nothing special with ram full fps drop isn't because ram full, it's because those npc waste a lot of cpu

Frankfranky Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 I guess you guys are better at optimising your game than me. I have opted for the brute force approach. $$$$. Put JK full + Detailed Whiterun, uncompressed fair skin, dress everyone in 4k textures, get dem 8k tomatoes ... stuff, build the biggest LODS DYNdolod will let you and turn on ugrids 9, then get back to me about your fps in whiterun. My 1080 will dip to about 45. https://i.imgur.com/F9oe7Ld.png https://i.imgur.com/n0uMo2z.png

Frankfranky Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 Hey .... I have nothing but respect for you guys, who take the time, and have the knowledge to achieve the same, if not better results, using optimised resources, smart choices and technical know-how. I like to think I know stuff, but the truth is I konw just enough to be dangerous ... as they say But, I have also worked for 20 years, and raised 2 kids, and I think I have earned the right to have flashy chips and a "bigger may not necessarily be better but it is very rarely worse" attitude. (and sometimes bigger is better. Go back and look at your shot from the standing stones and then look at mine. Look at the quality of the reflections in the water. Look at how far the reflections continue into the distance. purdy.)
yatol Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 you want to see that much your don't see your char in the water? or that house? or it's not the same tree? it's on purpose it's weaker and blurrier
RedRicker Posted January 12, 2018 Author Posted January 12, 2018 I don't know if I should be posting on loverslab anymore haha. The constant availability of sexual options was too intense for me, I couldn't enjoy or play skyrim. I'll switch profiles once my build becomes stable and I feel the need for it. I have considerably changed my mod list. Removed all sex related mods, many character aesthetic mods, lightings, textures, etc. Removed ELFX, Climates Of Tamriel, Vivid Landscapes, SFO, etc. Reinstalled SMIM with custom settings, choosing just about nothing except for performance friendly half textures. Also Optimized Textures, BPT Textures. Ran Ordenador through all textures on medium. Currently using Skyrim Performance Monitor to see what's wrong with my current build. I see my CPU usage hardly ever go high, GPU is always at full. So I thought this is GPU related, and I had removed the script heavy sexlab mods anyway. But even after removing the above mentioned graphic load I didn't get an appreciable improvement in performance in those areas. I even tried removing ~14 quest mods but nope. Not sure but maybe Interesting NPC removal helped a bit. Reducing Resolution didn't help. I get around 25 FPS normally which I consider playable, stutters are around 12-14 fps. So I must have some setting somewhere which is really messed up. In the skyrim.ini, prefs.ini, skse config, enblocal, enbseries or sweetfx. My memory blocks logger doesn't ever go beyond "85 8, 85 8" now, it did in the past which was when I optimised the skse config file. I have reduced shadows, turned on vsync and a bunch of other stuff. Modwatch: https://modwat.ch/u/RedRicker/plugins Skyrim Performance Monitor: ENB and ICBINE: enblocal.ini enbseries.ini SweetFX_settings.txt Memory Blocks Log and skse config: MemoryBlocksLog.log SKSE.ini I can only imagine that there is one setting somewhere which is messing up everything bigtime. Or hope. " gtx 570 is far way better than 820m, 820m is a low end mobile gpu, can be compared only with Intel HD, not desktop card " And it was with so much difficulty that I bought this laptop 3 years ago. Oh well. Truly appreciate you folks trying to help! Hopefully I'll be able to do the same more often for other people, if not for skyrim then elsewhere.
