heres my test build over a couple weeks, have some black face bugs but it works, im trying to line out load order. usually i hit crashes and give up, npc animations work, but partially. it is much more difficult than skyrim to mod... but it is pretty cool running in power armor with a minugun shooting raiders while they try to dry hump eachother. lol

 

anyway maybe this will help someone, oh and just cause you buy the dlc doesnt mean you have it all, the hd texture pack is like 60 gb so you think you manually pulled it from steam but really you didnt. so make sure mods are vanilla face vs hd texture in case you bought and installed it.

Yep, it is a big wasted opportunity - because of the bad performance and glitches the game has basically no player and mod community.

When SKSEVR was published it took only several weeks for most of the Skyrim mods to be ported. The F4SEVR has been out for months now and I haven't even seen  a request for a port. 

 

I have never tried AAF on the pancake game so I really don't know how it works. But I have been using 4Play and in my game the NPC animations run like in the flat game - including the major issue with the alignment. So of all 4Play mods I use only Autonomy,

 

From time to time I'm getting more enthusiastic and have been planning to patch 4Play to use a clone for the scenes involved the player. But so far my enthusiasm hasn't carried me to actually doing it. But it is still something I'm contemplating.

+1   I would really like to see some clone action with FO4 VR. Why should Skyrim VR have all the fun. Put a log on the enthusiasm fire for me ; )
Skyrim VR implementation  is great and FO 4 VR all I have is an animation gun to watch some NPC auto-eroticism. Or the German sex ring which is super bare and the camera is not viewed from a good perspective.

how did you get the npc animations to run like they are in the flat game? im using Four-Play Animations by Crazy6987 1.3 and  FO4_AnimationsByLeito_v2 but aaf doesent work witch is aparntly a dependacy for leito animations. what animation frame would you recomend

Sex Ring mod (I uninstalled it - the perspective is wrong). I'm in VR so options are limited. What works best is the sex animation gun where you can have females (or male) do solo erotic animations.
Crazy Animation Gun (I console it in myself) Help crazy 4      I think that's the search-word, Crazy.
The 2 person Crazy Animation Gun works well but it didn't console in for me, just had to make it at the Chemstation>Utility

It seems the best way forward is to try to get an AAF for VR. I have made a request here.

 

About the guns - both Crazy and Leito mods that have guns come with two specific variations - they both have one gun for solo action and one gun with 2 targets. (All guns are crafted at a chem station). I do however have in my game another gun, called "Sex gun" that allows solo, NPC-NPC and PC-NPC animations, but I can't seem to find out what mod it is part of.

Any way I have started making a 4play setup for the flat FO4 so I can experiment a bit more.

Also, I don't have FP Mindless Sex mod installed for that Sex Gun.   It's included in the mod I linked to above (again here below) if you read the mod's description I believe it talks about the Gun Version.

I'll upload this weekend a VR patch for 4play. For now the only thing it does is to spawn a clone of th PC and then destroy it when needed. In my brief tests this produces even more misalignment than the NPC-NPC scenes have. But step by step some solution can be found, I believe.

 

I don't think at the moment we can expect and hope for AAF for VR. Even if the dll of AAF gets ported. most of the mods for it require and use MCM and it also has no VR version.

I remember there was a mod kinda like crazys rugs but they snapped to eachother and had big blue models of rugs - Cant remember the name but I remember

Made at/under Chemstation>Utility. There's two animation guns (1 solo and another couple animation gun) as well as a solo animation ring that when equipped on an NPC will start a random solo animation. Just the solo animation gun's couple animation with player involved has the perspective stuck in-place and using Advanced Options (3 Offset sliders, XY&Z) Steam VR overlay is useful. Animations the player isn't involved in you can move freely.

Also if you don't want males to have underwear on but have genitals then use Dongs of Fallout. I tried it without any of its "requirements" and it seems to work just fine. (ForePlay mod doesn't work in VR, btw)

It's 2023 now and it looks like there will be no real animation framework for this game.

Sorry to say that being that newer graphic cards and VR headsets have been greatly improved, The game itself plays well heavily modded.

Oh well maybe some time in the future some mod DEV will get bored and make a new framework, or revamp an old one.

I've been doing some research and doing a playthrough of Fallout 4 VR, and this is what I've found so far. Some of my terminology might be wrong, and some of the info might not be entirely correct, but that's because I'm not a modder, so this is how I interpreted what I've read. There's a few problems with Fallout compared to Skyrim; first off, the modding community is far smaller, and second, Fallout 4 doesn't have a "true" first person camera the way Skyrim does. It has something to do with the game using a different model and skeleton for the first person animations than for the third person ones, so the incentive to get AAF working in VR, since all of the animations would be in third person, and part of the point of VR is the added immersion of first person with a large field of view.

 

So far, of the few adult mods for Fallout 4, only two of them work in VR, Sleep Intimate and 4Play. The reason the two of those work is that they don't need F4SE, unlike AAF, which only works with F4SE and not F4VRSE. Both Sleep Intimate and 4Play are able to load animations using the game's built in animation loader, another reason AAF doesn't work in VR. Sleep Intimate also only loads animations in third person, much like the old Skyrim animations, where a player clone is created and you're watching as a "fly on the wall." 4Play, though, seems to "want" to load animations in first person using FRIK, but the alignment is completely off. As in, the NPC you're trying to have sex with is either several feet in front of you and facing the wrong way, or if it's a lying down animation, the NPC will be lying down while you're standing up with your feet at their head.

 

The frustrating thing is, it seems like the 4Play issue would be an easy fix for someone experienced with animation, since it's just an issue of positioning the player's FRIK skeleton in the right place. And the beauty of VR is that they wouldn't even need to be aligned 100% perfectly. The nature of VR means part of your vertical field of view is going to be covered by your in-game body, much like part of your real life vertical FOV is currently being occupied by your actual body.

 

Ultimately, 4Play is obviously deprecated, replaced by the much more popular AAF. If there's some intrepid modder out there who uses VR, though, there's a chance to get 4Play working and having a true adult mod for Fallout 4 VR. Hell, if someone's willing to teach me to align models in animations, I'd even be willing to get 4Play working.

Does anyone know/tried of a method of fooling Fallout 4 VR to load mods that have a dependency on AAF. I would love to play Commonwealth Slavers in VR and not overly fussed to miss out on the sex animations as there's heaps on content in there outside of that and would be a great immersive mod to play, considering Torture devices, real handcuffs etc.. all load without issue. 

 

I suspect the author would be unwilling to make a custom version that didn't insist on AAF being loaded and, my interpretation is that its the dependency on the AAF framework being loaded which is preventing this from appearing in my mod list. I would also like to assume that if there was a way to fool FO4 into thinking the framework was loaded is that the mod would just skip the animation without incurring a CTD.

I know that with sleep intimate, i can load a dummy/blank esm, but that mod is using the game's internal animation player to load animations. I imagine a mod like that slaver mod is going to use aaf to handle all animations, even the non-sex ones. You should ask in that mods dedicated thread if the non-sex anims are handled internally by the game, i think the internal animation controller is called the AAC. If aaf only does the sex anims but not the non-sex ones, then you should be able to play it with a dummy plugin. If all anims are handled by aaf, then I'm afraid you're out of luck.

I thought Sleep Intimate did work with VR?  and had incorporated a few NSFW scenes, but doubt it has anywhere near the variety AAF has.

 

I think placing a dummy esm/esp file is a good idea. I'll have a little play and see what happens.
