Guest Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 Hi there everyone! :) Lets share our lore(ish) pictures I guess I start with a character. My Altmer lady, Earana Sunrise Spoiler
Content Consumer Posted November 17, 2017 Posted November 17, 2017 This armor is not particularly sensible, but I like it anyway. Spoiler Please disregard the fact that I'm staring at a dead girl. She just happened to fall in just the right position.
Jexsam Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 Here's one of my lore-ish characters, Selune Highmoss, in a selection of screenshots from a recent pair of posts clearing some backlog and celebrating LL's so-far successful transition to this new forum. Nude under the spoiler! Spoiler You may have noticed her eyes. They're a result of her parentage - her mother was a Dunmer, meaning Selune herself is for all intents and purposes a Dunmer as well, but her father was an Altmer. Racial Phylogeny, a book you may have come across in-game at some points, holds that a child born of mixed race will be the race of their mother, but can inherit traits from their father. Selune, in this case, inherited eyes of Altmer gold in a particularly striking example of the phenomenon.
Jexsam Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 As some of you may be aware, Selune is in fact a mother. This would be her daughter, Eldawen Highmoss, in another selection of shots from a larger post. No nudes in the selection this time, but there is another companion blog post containing some! Spoiler You might have noticed Eldawen's eyes are a bit... redder than Selune's. It might surprise you to learn that like her mother, Eldawen's father is also an Altmer. So, while Racial Phylogeny states Eldawen is technically a Dunmer, she is in fact about 3/4 Altmer going by real-world genetics. Given that I adhere to Racial Phylogeny over real genetics as far as ES is concerned, I chose eyes for Eldawen that still contained gold, but alluded more strongly to her Dunmer identity. The result is rather striking, if I do say so myself. Another thing I would like to point out, as an interesting aside, are the ages of these characters. Without talking at length about their backgrounds, basically when I originally came up with Eldawen's father, Maechen, no information really existed about the rate at which mer aged. This was sometime around 2008 I went looking, and couldn't come up with an average, only that some examples have lived 1000+ years. So the assumption I made was that mer had naturally very long lifespans, and most simply succumbed to violence or disease before reaching ages greater than, say, 400. So Maechen, being older, ended up about 350 or so during the Third Era, and Selune about 122. The release of ESO apparently saw proper age ranges introduced, and... hoo boy, were my original calculations off. At 122, Selune would have been borderline elderly, and Maechen would be a wizard. Well, he is a wizard - they all are - but not the kind that would have looked much into life extension magicks. And that was in the Third Era - circa Skyrim, Selune is 322, and Maechen a whopping 550 years old. Needless to say, that revelation left me with quite the conundrum. Ultimately I decided to stick with my original age estimates since it was out of the question for me to delete the character simply due to a previously unknown canon violation, let alone throw out years of roleplay I'd done building them. I'd love to hear others' thoughts on the matters of genetics/Racial Phylogeny and what to do if you find out what you'd been doing was actually wrong the whole time! Hell, the matter of Racial Phylogeny could warrant its own discussion topic, really...
Stiffon Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 Here's my current playthru - mainly to complete those quest lines that I have ignored so many times before lol. Time for a mead and a song. Eden in the background is in a 'little' trouble....
