Loading times will be longer but that's just because there is more stuff DD needs to load, so mod vs direct doesn't really make a difference.

That said if you haven't already you should add this to your launch options:

Quote

-disable_monster_pre_loading -full_as_borderless -additional_max_resources 4096 -skipfeflowintro

And you should also use the Decompilation Patch unless you are planning to play on a Steam Deck (make sure to make a backup first and follow the install instructions exactly!).

Another option to speed up loading is to run images (either from a single mod or just drag in the whole DD folder) though PNGGauntlet to losslessly compress them. Depending on whether the modder already compressed their files you can usually get anywhere from 15% to 70% reduction in image size with no quality loss. Just check the "Overwrite Original Files" checkbox in PNGGauntlet and if it exists you'll need to delete "modfiles.txt" from the mod so DD doesn't error on the new sizes. (Note: Compressing a single mod doesn't take that long, but doing the whole DD folder will take hours, so start it right before you go to bed or something).

Lastly an easy way to speed up the non-loading screen parts is to pick up some animation speedup mods. For example this one or the ones linked in the description on that page really makes the game go a lot faster.

The launch option you need is "-skipfeflowintro". If you're on GOG the instructions to set launch options should be here:

I have played 365 hours and currently have about 140 mods installed, but this is the first time I meet this information. Thank you very much for explaining this in detail.

Hello everyone! This is my first post ever so be patient with me :P

I've been trying to replace the brigand cannon boss with the Wildlander Warhawk from  the Wildlander invasion mod https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2632371486

I copied her anim files and renamed Skel and Atlas files but didn't rename the pngs. She appears ingame but she is stiff, not animated, also when she defends, shows the correct sprite but remains in that sprite... I guess something is missing on the animations, this is a screenshot of how she looks ingame...

Spoiler

I'll also share a Zip file so you can see my failure...

I started a retexture of the lady but I won't finish it until I get the wildlander working... if it's even possible...

The Warhawk is a Transformation Monster, and does not have a default stance for her Combat and Defend sprites.

Fixing it requires either opening her up and fixing them, or just slapping a line at the top of her .art files to lock her into a specific mode.

I already made this port, you see...

Wow, thanks a lot man, sometimes finding stuff here is a bit hard, I'll make retexture of it and share it as soon as it's done!

Weird, the mod doesn't appear in the mod list, am I the only one with this problem?

the mod doesn't have a project xml file, check the one I attach and put it into the folder, you can change the mod title in the file if you want

So, has anyone tried to patch Xelsword's heroes for the Black Reliquary mod yet? The mod's page says it needs patching if you want to use custom skins for Grave Robber, Antiquarian, Musketeer and Jester.

Antiquarian and Jester look straightforward, their custom attacks aren't too dissimilar to their originals. Investigate and Powerslide should do.

Musketeer would be straightforward, she gains a Melee attack and a Throw/Shoot... so Pistol and Artillery sprites, easy enough.

Grave Robber has a Shovel attack, which is a problem, because Xelsword's Grave Robbers kick with their high heels instead of Axing a question, so you can't just replace the Pickaxe with a shovel. Not sure how you'd go about 'fixing' that, especially since if you actually did edit her sprites, you'd need to do that for every single color scheme. I guess just use Pickaxe again?

So, the incompatibility is just the attack sprites? I'm a complete idiot when it comes to modding, so I'll just wait and hope someone releases a patch for that.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

Black Reliquary Xelsword Skins.rar

Load above Black Reliquary, obviously. No sprite edits took place, you can just slot other skins in no problem.

I might have to see how they changed the Musketeer once Xelsword releases their Arbalest. I will need a mod to change how one or the other works, of course...

Just wanted to have some sexy skins for the swine that were actually swine (just so the narrations actually match what I'm looking at in game), and figured why not share if anyone else wants the same. Anyway these are just the png files; you will need Anaertailin's original skeleton and atlas files to use it. There are six variants as shown in the preview image but also 6 dark eyed variants if you prefer. Enjoy.
