Weird-Feathers Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 I hope this is the right place to put this. I'm not sure. I want to create some followers with "soft" faces/features. I can already create decent looking characters, at least I think they look decent. But I can't seem to get that soft face look no matter what with racemenu. I do make use of the sculpting feature in Racemenu, but faces still dont have that ECE look. Maybe I'm not using the right sliders? I honestly have no idea how ECE works, so I'm also wondering what sliders it has that RM doesn't. These are a few example of the NPC's I've made: Teenage Boy, Teenage Girl, Adult Woman. I can't seem to get the style I'm looking for. I can't make their features softer than this. Even when using CITRUS Head. I'm sure I'm over looking something.
AlyssaAwoo Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 Why dont you just try it out and see if you can find glitches/see if it works ? I dont think so because both Edit the Same Files (Im guessing) -Wish
Shizune Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 ECE is the same deal as Race Menu, which is a facegen overhaul. Besides limited support, the inferior vertex edit feature and better looking base presets it's absolutely in no way different than Race Menu. You're better off taking some time to study facial features and to experiment with textures.
Uncle64 Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 ECE is older and are basic superseded by Racemenu, if you want them both installed you must install Racemenu after ECE.But you dont need ECE. And yes you can use ECE or RaceMenu when creating heads. But dont make any mod you make dependent on one of them.

None of them are better to achieve a specific style. As you say, it's better to take some time to study facial textures. The work is on SG textures, fairskin complexion , mature skin....and others. the face editor (RM or ECE ) is not so important.
yatol Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 the face editor (RM or ECE ) is not so important. not important? the jaw is no longer wider on ece tri it suck to have the mouth larger than the area between it in the jaw redguard cheeks stand out, because their ancestor took a hammer in his head, and they are all deformed it make a difference to generate a head with different tri files it become a nice mess if you want that mod for that race, this one for this race, vanilla for that one...
noodles1976 Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 At one point in time I read a tutorial on how to use the two of them together, but that was years ago. Here are some relevant threads to read through: http://www.loverslab.com/topic/24900-racemenu-and-ece-compatibility/ https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/2638959-racemenu-enhanced-character-edit/ Keep in mind that these are from 2014 & 2015...both mods have changed quite a bit since then and these approaches might not work anymore. I think the last version of Racemenu where you could combine them together was 2.0 or 2.5...? Good luck! N~dles

Okay I don't want to be that person and derail the thread a bit but what face textures are you using?? YOur faces have A LOT more detail than mine..... I'm not sure what's wrong with my stuff since everything in the game is highly detailed with 4k textures my faces look super out of place... it's TOO smooth. Currently only using adorable face from Oldrim as the textures. I've tried M skin and SG textures and they make my character look super old and wrinkly...

I maintain my answer. I already saw great works on ECE and Racemenu. Both. I don't think tools are the most important but what peoples do with them. That's the same result with ENBS. The same ENB used by 2 differents gamers will probably have a different result. I have already seen horrible results with powerful ENBS and very good results with performance ENBS. We are not agree but your post is interesting.

I'm using just using Fair Skin on Skyrim Classic. The ENB I was using in those screenshots at the time was either Vanilla Icecream of Far Off CGI (both are outdated). Right now I use Kwanon to try and get a CGI look rather than going for a realistic look.
yatol Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 I maintain my answer. I already saw great works on ECE and Racemenu. Both. maybe i could make that look like that with both racemenu and ece ece vertex editor, you select a verticle and move it around would be complicated and time consuming to make that head with that racemenu vertex editor suck less, using that to mess with eyes without destroying them? complicated i would do it by moving down eye slider, moving up lips slider, export, reverse sliders, import edited head, and repeat (there's sliders for that, you use them) easier and faster in blender ece or racemenu? if all you do it's picking that hair or picking ningheim mouth... that doesn't matter the thing that matter, it's if you have download a cme save or racemenu preset (whatever head you want, it was already done by someone, so you just download it instead of wasting your time) there's 2 "forme de la bouche" that one is vanilla tri, and the other one ece if you unzip ece tri, cme_femaleheadnord.obj, cme_headup.obj, cme_mouthwide.obj don't know how to load cme_femaleheaddarkelf in racemenu there's 2 ways to make recemenu you look for the stuff that make the game load cme_femaleheadnord.obj instead of femalehead.obj, and you put that in racemenu or you rename cme_femaleheadnord.obj to femaleheadnord.obj, and repack femaleheadrace.tri with that if you mess with tri files, you better do it right recemenu it's to regenerate better npcs a follower have some nice ears you want to give them to npcs? showracemenu argonian race then you pick high elf race or whatever you want don't do anything to that head, stick to lips0, eye0, everything default vertex editor, mask the head (not the ears) and import follower head export as femaleheadhighelf go to headpart femaleheadhighelf in tesedit remove \femaleheadrace.tri replace \femalehead.nif with femaleheadhighelf.nif (the head mesh from head nif copy paste in femalehead.nif, don't use the head nif) load crap kit go to elf race and generate your elves with their new ears
