Guest Lady Luck Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 i got idea on this site , i don't know if this possible to do but here  - make the member section hidden , only a registered member can see the category.  Reason : " We all know loverslab is a free based community were we all can post anything we want without limitation within respective credits to original creator correct?, so why hidden contents are important lechers outside will steal contents from this site, we all should be aware on the site created content are exclusive to this website and not from anywhere else without permission "  - Categorized the download sections  - " sooner or later,if we don't really update the mods section to a proper category , this site is gonna have a huge chunk of data that is hard to moved on other thread it happens on my old forums that i close it down... this is why categorized mods are useful when it comes to organizing the mods... you know this site needs one really bad"   well thats all for now this site need these essential update.
Ashal Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 i got idea on this site ' date=' i don't know if this possible to do but here  - make the member section hidden , only a registered member can see the category.  Reason : " We all know loverslab is a free based community were we all can post anything we want without limitation within respective credits to original creator correct?, so why hidden contents are important lechers outside will steal contents from this site, we all should be aware on the site created content are exclusive to this website and not from anywhere else without permission " [/quote']  Attachments require they register to download, so that content is protected. The only stuff that's not is is if it's a mediafire link, so up to the mod poster if they want their content for members only or not in that respect.  Personally I like it that way so guests can at least SEE what there is so they know if it's worth registering to download or not.  - Categorized the download sections  - " sooner or later,if we don't really update the mods section to a proper category , this site is gonna have a huge chunk of data that is hard to moved on other thread it happens on my old forums that i close it down... this is why categorized mods are useful when it comes to organizing the mods... you know this site needs one really bad"   well thats all for now this site need these essential update. I don't think the volume of content warrants categories for downloads yet, but when it reaches that point I'll happily add them. For now, how about category thread prefixes? That way individual threads at least get tagged as what sort of addon it is.
Ark of Truth Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 They will just register and steal. Â There is nothing wrong with the download section. The amount of time needed to sort that all out would be huge. This is not the Nexus, we don't need that system. People don't even use the prefixes and tags we have now to mark mods so what's the point of adding more? Â If users used the site properly and used the search function it would be better.
Guest Lady Luck Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 prefix will be great, u know sometimes i get confused what mod i wanna download because it get mixed up with other name that dont belong to the actual content , it's not about being " nexus " its bout having organized files that way its easy not to get confused i don't know just me , sometimes it's tedious just to click next and next till i find the correct file.
Ark of Truth Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Well maybe if we deleted all the old threads which are 2 years old. That's of course nothing which is usefull in them it would be a good start.
Guest Lady Luck Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 lol , yeah it's pain on the ass and i know how shit to just move things around been there, well this is just a suggestion guys thanks for hearing me out because sometimes when i had ideas i hate to keep inside on my head you know it drive me nuts XD Â can we keep this thread because who knows random people will pop out giving more ideas to this site on how we can improve loverslab to be better
Ashal Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Well maybe if we deleted all the old threads which are 2 years old. That's of course nothing which is usefull in them it would be a good start. Â I've added an [outdated] prefix for old threads. Deleting peoples work, even if out of date isn't exactly nice, plus other people can still find the information useful as a resource.
Ark of Truth Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Ok fair enough Is there a way the prefix can be automatically assign to the thread if there has not been a post in a certain amount of time?
Ashal Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Ok fair enough Is there a way the prefix can be automatically assign to the thread if there has not been a post in a certain amount of time? Â Not built in, but I'll look into programming it myself to do so. Â There is just better ways of organizing old information than removing it. Removing helps nobody, archiving possibly helps somebody in the future.
Ark of Truth Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 True. I started my mod using someone else's old script. However I do feel strongly about something need to be changed, even it does seem like I'm being picky in some cases. Â Right now I'm hungry so I'll finish putting in the rest of this post later. Â Edit: Ok, now for the rest of it. These are my own thoughts and are not ment to disrespect anybody in anyway. Just saying them as they come to my mind. Â 1. As well as having prefixes maybe create an archive subforum? That way all the outdated threads can go in there, this will only leave active ones in the forums and will make the place more tidy and easy to navigate. Nothing is deleted and users will be able to tell it's all outdated stuff. I can always help with this if needed. Â 2. When someone is banned, there are banned. Like Donkey said a user attacked a moderator and then he's account was reactivated sometime later. If that's the case let's invite Prophour back for a chat, what's the point of having rules if they don't stick, rules are ment to stop you from getting banned if you follow them. (I know at the end of the day if you want to unban someone it's your choice but it doesn't help the thought of users following the rules, it pretty much says don't follow the rules I will let you off after so much time.) Â 3. Every now and then create polls and ask for where changes should be made. Find where changes need to be made then ask what changes need to be done. The changes don't have to stick, do it like the ads try it for a month and then do enough poll to see if users liked it or hated it. Â 4. Dividing the site into two sections might be helpful, non adult and adult. By divinding the sections and placing an age restriction on some stuff it may help bring in new users. Have the adult threads hidden unless the user is over 18. (Yes like the Nexus does it.) That way we can get some new users and maybe some new ads aswell. (Yes I know we tried this but maybe it was done the wrong way) Â Like I said these are my own thoughts and at the end of the day its up to you if any of this is to happen, but I do feel strongly about giving it all a go after all it wouldn't hurt would it?
Guest Lady Luck Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 lol see this is why suggestion and feedback will make everything works on this site it's all about one decision if everybody like the way the admin does his job why not use his instead, is just me sometimes i do ask alot but at least in common sense , so you know we all can prepare something in case something bad happens.
Guest GingerTom Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 How about banned persons (depending on seriousness of offence--personally attacking a mod is a 'no') receiving amnesty after 1 to 3 months if they ask to come back with a further 3 month period of probation (in case they're just trying to be funny) with 'Amnesty' under their name for that 3 months so people will understand how they came back.

What's the point of having bans if they can come back? You might as well just not ban them. Plus there is nothing stopping them from making a new account in that time.

People are more likely to take temporary bans seriously than permanent ones. If you've lost everything, you'll start acting like an asshole because you've got nothing to lose. If you know you'll be able to come back, there's a good chance you'll behave and wait. Or you'll quickly lose interest in waiting and move on.
Guest GingerTom Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Exactly. Permanent bans are deadly to a site. Bad mouthed until eternity.
gregathit Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Exactly. Permanent bans are deadly to a site. Bad mouthed until eternity. Â I would disagree. There are, as you well know exceptions to every rule. Permabans have a place and hopefully are very rare occurrences. But in specific cases for specific reasons they are a necessary evil.
thesapien Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 The "show content" buttons still reads "show conent" or am I the only one getting this misspelling error? Â Â Â see? Â Â

I'm not being scarcastic either because I really think bans should be permanent. I seriously doubt Ashal would want to futher deal with anyone after banning them anyway. He already has to deal with us!
Chase Roxand Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Forgive me, but I've been hiding in one corner of the forums. Who has been banned? I've seen my share of obnoxious, whiny users, but no one worth banning.
Brucealso Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I was an administer on a website and we had a, i guess you would call it a scoring system which issued infractions each infraction depending on the severity had points issued and after so many points you would either be banned permanently or temporarily...im not saying this is the answer, cause i saw the pros and cons of it...but like for flaming or profanity(which wasnt allowed ) or spamming it worked fairly well, some people took it to heart and never had another problem with them. Â Just my 1/100th cents worth.

Funny, the only example I've seen was someone who had their ban lifted anyway because it was a simple mistake. So as far we know the system ain't broken, is it? What's there to fix?  If we're bored we can talk about the weather.
Guest Lady Luck Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 here's another fun suggestion for LL why don't we convert to Thanks button like " Rep system " so if we got alot of thanks by the members the mods featured infront of the page i think that would be awosome idea
Guest GingerTom Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 We had a thanks button but it was causing website difficulties (not personal difficulties.)
