Animal Farm: An Examination of Inhuman Decisions

Recommended Posts

idk if its finished but if it is can somebody give me the cute alligator race? The one in the original post?

Also what can I do to help? these mods are great!

Edit: also sorry I clicked something here and didn't know what I was doing, I think I unquoted someones text.

Yeah, I just need to find the right people to credit and the energy to stop being lazy and I'll have it up in the next couple of days, hopefully.

its a pretty simple race mod, but the head started deforming in weird ways if I tried to make the snout longer.

I'm glad you find that version different enough from argonians to ask for it, something about alligators looks are quite appealing to me.

"Also what can I do to help? these mods are great!"

A lot of these mods are half finished , set up poorly to redistribute, or use assets too willly-nilly

This thread was mainly to bring together and help modders who don't want to not make yet another (often caucasian) man/mer race, and want more exotic variety

...but, it is also to pull in mod users like yourself to bring energy and excitement to projects that I have lost focus on, as I can't help but mod more and more stuff and leave a big unfinished mess in my wake.

Okay maybe I can find other people who might find this interesting, also any ideas how to make the males in the Qaws Race Mod walk around nude instead of using that cloth?

Edit: ah nevermind, it appears as though I am an idiot and installed the Roberts Male bodies incorrectly. Installing though Wrye Bash solved the problem.

Played with some different textures. Gots a fuzzy bunny. Altered the Khajiit textures for Seamless OCO2. It took a while before I actually found the furry looking HGEC texture. Altered the color curves and hue/saturation in GIMP.

Nice, also let us know how that Cynder model is going and if the creator of the mod is cool with you editing it yet.

You mean the pics I posted some time ago (which are gone now)? If so, then I have bad news for you.

Those HGEC-compatible textures I posted are gone. I nuked my entire Oblivion install alongside all my mods and working files some time ago (partly due to a fit of rage caused by the game not working but also due to actual valid reasons), so there's nothing left. My carefully constructed "Yiffy Age of Oblivion" mod with its included HiyokoGeneratorGeneForge support and heavily edited/improved assets is gone as well :(.

Nevertheless, the original Cynder/Spyro mod should still be up, and while its textures are for the FF/UFF bodies only (just like the original female Anthro Dragon Race textures), they could be ported again using the same method I used the first time. Don't think it's going to happen anytime soon, though; or at least I will not be the one to do it. I've moved on from Oblivion, and I'm going to focus on Skyrim for now.

Sorry about this :-/.

Well, if he goes in the back door, poor girl won't sit for a month.    Fienyx approves. :D

Redid my kanin race, haven't uploaded it yet. Simple redo in Tes4Edit. Don't have the CS/CSE. Trying to keep myself from becoming absorbed by the life consuming hobby of mod authoring again....... i'll end up breaking eventually.

Put the bunny ears from x117, properly altered (damn, had to install nifskope), and currently using the head mesh and textures from you're high elves are deer. Not sure if I'm gonna stick with that texture or find/make something else.

Edit: I have decided, I will add the antlers also, (haven't decided on texture yet) and have a jackalope race.

Thankfully I saved this image from you before the Loverslab glitched on us.

And I didn't get around to making the race mods yet because I was fixing up a mod order in Starbound, but now its time to get back to work on this.

And in that case did you manage to make the "IAJOT race replacers" mod into individual races, that don't replace the vanilla races? I would enjoy it very much if I could attempt to make some villages for the vanilla game out in parts of the wilderness and to add some npcs to cities with these races. As a way of further learning how to mod.

tl;dr: I'll probably make a stand alone version when i make an updated all-in-one esp, which will be once I've updated all the races, which only Breton/zebras remain and I'm on my finishing touches with them... although I'm having some issues with loading my game lately and it may be a bit until I figure that out.

The main reason I've been slow to do that is, i'm not sure the best way to release the non-replace version, all my races are in one esm file that is mastered by a custom hair/eye compilation

which, as far as i can tell, is the easiest way of organizing it so that you don't have unnecessary clutter, from multiple mods having the same hair and eyes, but in different folders... anyway, maybe a tutorial if your impatient? 5a553b1923586_tutorialespmigrating.thumb.jpg.fe2d9ba9da9839eef7a9b124bf32a60b.jpg

vanilla= oblivion.esm,

you may need additional help on how to make esm and masters and whatnot , if you want what i have, a large selection of hairs/ eyes/races easily addable to other ESPs

not necessary for what you want to do as you can just build npcs in the same esp as the races and just set them in vanilla villages, my method is better for adding races to other mods

feel free to ask other questions, I'll try to help where I can.

Still here and willing to help with whatever I can, though I'm not modding Oblivion anymore due to it becoming a crashfest so I can't offer any direct advice and/or test stuff ingame myself.

Speaking of which, if I may ask, how did you fix your CTDs? I'd love to go back to Oblivion from time to time but as it stands right now I can't play for more than 15 minutes without crashing, and sometimes even less.

I remember installing a bunch of mods after following this guide minus the "Oblivion Reloaded" and "Unique Landscapes" parts, but Oblivion Reloaded which I installed later on kept causing CTDs even after uninstall

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edB_LFNOdyM&list=PL4turVkHE168sUAKbMnJZggrvC0wFT8NO

And then un-installing and re-installing a bunch of mods but not following all the instructions on this video which I originally did. I had to do this to my BSA's but did not.

InfoP1.thumb.PNG.dd9844aec688e9a699b25eedbc0c3972.PNG

And I make sure to check the comment section of all the videos and mod installations I use because the people in those areas usually know what they are taking about and sometimes the creators of the mods help out a bit.

Also some of my mod INI files were incompatible by I assume trying to effect the same things from the games mechanics, I remember using "Oblivion XP Updated" - https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/35333
which changes how health and level ups work with Endurance by making it retroactive and I also used another mod that did the same this and another version that did this, I don't remember which one I used with "Oblivion XP Updated" but they both effected the endurance in a similar way and can only guess that these were one of the reasons for some of my CTDs

Retroactive Health - https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/2215
Retroactive Stats - https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/20681
Now after reading both mods and "Oblivion XP Update" I just use "Oblivion XP Update" since it basically does the same thing as the other two but with more features.

Another thing was using OBSEs that did the same things which I assume would also cause crashes, I used these two mods at the same time which affect the same things and I also assume these caused some CTDs while I played
Oblivion Elys Uncapper - https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/31464

AV Uncapper - https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/34841/
I now only use "AV Uncapper" as it says its better

And another thing that might have caused me CTDs was using the Oblivion Stutter Remover OBSE - https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/23208/
with this setup http://wiki.step-project.com/User:Hishutup/OblivionGuide which fixes the "Fast Exit" but at the same time using an OBSE that was designed specifically to fix "Fast Exit"
Fast Exit - https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/22410
Following that STEP guide and its instructions on using OSR fixed the "Fast Exit" problem but I did not know and used the "Fast Exit" Plugin with it so this must have also been a cause for some CTDs
I now only use OSR with the STEP guide

At this point I make sure to write down everything I do on a notepad++ program https://notepad-plus-plus.org/ so that I can quickly install everything in-case something goes wrong, I also make sure to read everything a mod does and I check if there are multiple mods that do the same thing and might include features from the others or it is better and/or the others are outdated/inferior.

Also if you look at my installed mods I messed around with Sexlivion and SexDarkness with mixed success on both, they seem to be outdated/buggy and the "Pluggy" OBSE seems to not be friendly with the OBSEv21 I have (Pluggy is needed for SexDarkness) or maybe the versions of "Pluggy" I used were *buggy* lol
I plan to go back after I become a more experienced modder and try to fix Sexlivion (and learn/read the original in Japanese) + xLovers (if I can find some copies and learn Russian to read them) and the "so called" merged version of both "SexDarkness" which also has its own sets of bugs and try to make these mods work with OBSEv21 instead of Pluggy and make them compatible with LAPK - https://www.loverslab.com/files/file/354-lapf/
Thats a future idea I have for my modding, I don't know if I'll ever get good enough to fix and merge them for use with LAPK but thats a plan at least.

Oh, wow. That's a very complete and detailed post. Thank you very much for that!

Unfortunately, I already comply with all the advice in there, so it seems like there isn't much to be done about my problem outside of somehow installing Windows 7 again so that W10 can't break my Oblivion. Oh, well.

Anyway, thanks for that, and as I said feel free to ask about anything you may need help with regarding custom races for Oblivion. I did my fair share of work back in the day, so I might be able to help you with some :classic_shy:.

Ah yes Windows 10 that might be one of the reasons why it might crash, I am running Windows 8.1 and I am not too sure if this is the best operating system to be running Oblivion on, as well as Fallout 3/NV especally with Tale of Two Wastelands but it appears to be stable.

One thing I will note is that I am using a EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 video-card, the ones that run Nivida which has a problem running with Oblivion Reloaded, where I must either disable "Water Displacements" in the Oblivion.INI file or go to the OblivionReloaded.INI and disable he surface water effects there. I do enjoy how the water of Oblivion Reloaded looks underwater and care very little for the surface water so thats one reason I messed around with it.

I might create a 100% efficient and usable computer for my TES and Fallout games later so that I run into minimal problems later on but so far Window 8.1 has no problems running those games for me.

haven't modded in a while, god that's weird to say, anyway, the easy way is to name it femalelowerbody (and lowerbody for male) and place it in Oblivion\Data\meshes\characters\_male

the right way is to install blockhead, name the mesh insert race name here_lowerbody and put it in Oblivion\Data\meshes\characters\BodyAssetOverrides\PerRace\f and use  \m file for the male equivalent

well technically you don't need race as the deciding factor, but its what makes sense to me
