I know this is quite "late" in Oblivion's modding timeline, but more love for beast races is always welcome . Now, on to being actually usefull (or at least trying to). I have to say I'm not able to provide pictures as examples of whay I may want to bring up, because I was forced to nuke my Oblivion install yet again for technicals reasons, and it will probably take me a while. Sorry about that . Anyway, let's see. Talking about beast races, I want to bring up Oblivion Character Overhaul. Most people would already know about it, but I wanted to mention it specifically for its modified Argonian and Khajiit head meshes. While the more "cartoony"/"bland" style of the vanilla heads does fit in Oblivion, I prefer the more "realistic" one included there, and they seem to work fine with most Khajiit/Argonian textures as well. As a bonus, doing some tweaking on the "Face Data" I was able to come up with a nice looking (IMO) canine head shape, which in my case I intended for use with the races from Qaws Race Pack (which is itself a great source of assets for canine races). Here are some examples of what I was able to come up with using that head morph alongside Qaws' Wolven race. I am aware the angle doesn't really show the muzzle shape, but I think I got it good enough, and also I'm just lucky I had this pics at hand so I could show something. NSFW warning! [ Also used in those pics are the body textures from here: Wolven Anthros (great race, but a bit messy with the files, and also I'm personally not a big fan of the human-like heads), and the paw meshes from the Nonyxia Race (awesome as well, and includes both human and Khajiit heads). Also some assets like the leg/arm fur were kindly shared by tolerance (once again, thank you for that! ). Oh, and the hair is from OCO. Nuska's hairs are always great. On a different subject, as a big fan of dragons I have to say I love Drake's Anthro Dragon race (already mentioned), and its derivatives such as the Dragorian and Dranaugh (and the updated/expanded version). The only downside to it is that the female textures and assets are built for the Fantasy Figures body, which is kinda... outdated and not supported. Basically, since the standard female body for Oblivion was chosen as the HGEC derivatives, the race is incompatible with mods such as SetBody, most custom gear, and even LAPF (at least as far as females in the "active" role go, because the futa/strapon meshes are built for HGEC. The only alternative is to use the built-in custom body system to replace the whole body. Males are fine, though, since they are built for the Roberts body, so if you want to play as a male dragon, you can do so just fine and it works flawlessly . Also someone may be interested in this addon: Cynder The Dragon. It includes some assets that allow you to play as an anthro Cynder, and Spyro as well (Spyro used to be in a separate mod but the Cynder file contains both). And last, but not least, I did a quick experiment to see if I could do something about the females, and it turned out to be successful. Using some texturing tricks I learnt while working on the Yiffy Age mod for Skyrim, I managed to port the textures to the HGEC UV acceptably enough. I only did so for the Cynder texture set, though. I didn't get to take any ingame pics before my Oblvion went kaboom, but I do have some pics from the render in Mudbox. Here: Before even remotely considering continuing working on this with aims to releasing it, I would have to contact Drake to be sure he's 100% okay with it, but if that goes well and I finally decide to bite the bullet and get back to Oblivion, this may lead somewhere . And that's all I have to offer for now. Hope this is of any help or interest to someone . Took me my sweet time to post this whole thing, lol.

I rigged a part of that to attach to a lower body of one of my races (yeah, weird, sorry), but I'm not sure if i should credit these textures that the mod owner wants to be credited with him, given the fact that you won't see their contributions to the texture on the mesh. I'm not a big fan of reaching out to people, I mainly started this thread because my computer isn't doing so well, and I would hate for years of work to be only enjoyed by me before *POOF* ... I mean I have a backup, but that drive is older then my computer.

I mean I have a backup, but that drive is older then my computer. Well, to be honest, I prefer to use assets that are not outright stated to require permissions. Many modders are OK with you using their assets as long as you give proper credit, which is neat, and it doesn't take that much work to add a small line in the credits that says "Thanks to X for Y mod". Even if the contribution is small, if it's still there I think it's justified. Like, for example, if the permissions for Gary's Real Mares doesn't require you to ask the author for explicit permission to use its assets, you could just release it here or wherever as long as you add that line on the "Credits" section and link back to the mod. No need to contact the author. And even if you had to contact them due to their permissions policy, someone else could take care of that. For example, I was the one to contact Apachii on behalf of BadDog to make sure they were okay with us creating a patch for their hair mods for use with Yiffy Age of Skyrim (because I had to build them as modified plugin files instead of external patches) and it went all smooth. So, I guess someone (myself included) could take care of that for you if required . BTW, no such thing as "weird" here, don't worry about that. Also that thing with the real mares mods sounds... interesting, at the very least. Did it actually work or lead somewhere? I would like to know.
Fienyx Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 I can tell you the drakes anthro race has some very interesting assets. That's where I got my wings and the fight script from. The original script is a little buggy, but I have my version working pretty well, considering flight wasn't meant to exist in the game. It does not work like airfight system, instead, you are constantly flying forward, and it will use your fatigue. Different speeds for flight and gliding, but need to be careful with the faster speeds, oblivion doesn't handle the player smashing into thing that fast. You cant fight while flying, but you can glide into and knock down your target. It is a crime to do it to friendly npcs. I got my fur texture from the nonyxia cheetah, and the argonian texture from enhanced genetics has replaced the texture from OCO2 for me. edit: Here's the modest start that eventually led to what I have now.

Somewhat off-topic, but I'm curious: how did you go from a stock Kanin/Rabbit character to, well, the chimera you seem to have now? That's quite the jump from one race to another (if you may call the second one a unique "race", being such a mix and all). Not that I don't like it, mind you, quite the opposite. Also, if I may ask as well, how did you come up with such a particular species? is it some kind of in-story thing with a reasoning for why is it like that, or did you just went with whatever you felt like adding to your character? Sorry again for going off the tangent here, but I'm really curious, and it's still beast-race related, so I guess it's not that bad, lol .

Jack's adventures took him all over multiple creations (my main sona for games at the time). Don't remember which game (some old text based game), but I inadvertently became a pirate captain after stowing away on the ship. So, I managed to become Cpt. Calico Jack. As Cpt, I was viciously mutinied upon by the jealous first mate. Left stranded on an island, I saved the life of a great mystic who imbued me with the soul of the phoenix (this part of the story I continued after I stopped playing that text game and the MS was starting, the ms causes a burning sensation in my legs 24/7) transforming me into a Mystical Wolf-Lion Named Fienyx Deamonfyr. (this is about the time I started playing Oblivion, never heard of mods) After years of adventuring, (and the seperation/divorce) Fienyx used his mystical powers to teleport and adventure across multiple dimensions of Cyrodiil. (I had discovered mods, 4 yrs ago) He was cursed by a powerful mage, and transformed into a Kanin (I ended up in a wheelchair, which changed my mental state and massively altered my fursona, yes, I'm a furry.) While continuing to search dimensions for a new land to call home, he didn't always face hardship. One adventure, he was gifted with wings ( i made this ) and the power of flight. This new ability of flight caught the attention of the madgod Himself, who sent a band of succubi to use their sexual magicks on him. Their magicks ultimately came to the creation of a hermaphroditic chimaera, known as Fienyx Willow, the lizard-bat-bunny-cat. Fienyx has water breathing, a necessity due to having a height in the cs of .75 causes the camera to be underwater in 1st person. A natural immunity to all diseases, because adding Vector to my LO would not be good Is Ungifted, cannot cast spells Is a conduit, though spells can't be cast, they can be channeled into weapons. Has a natural healing ability, which causes temporary self-paralysis from drakes scripts Has a fortify H2H ability +20, simply because while I was looking for a texture to apply to the claws, hoping for something that looked like bone, I came across a texture that made me giggle, and I had to use it. Adamantium. Not sure which mod added it, but I had to use it.

I'm looking forward to any other race/asset you may want to share as well. Downloading and hoarding them for now, but I intend to put them to good use once I'm back in Oblivion. For starters, those equine naughty bits have convinced me to use your awesome zebra race for my custom "Furry Age of Oblivion" setup (so far I had Bretons replaced with Dalmura from Qaws' Race Pack, but I'll go Zebra next time ).

So to swap them with your zebras I would only have to replace the meshes and textures in the "Characters/Breton" folders with your own ones, and perhaps tweak the Face Data tab in the race data to get them to look more like zebras and less like canines.

Have you tried my "its a jungle out there" mod, It's designed so you can swap out as many or as few vanilla races, and if you don't like any of them, just turn off the esp, I used separate folders as to not overwrite anything. or is the way I set it up too cumbersome?

No the bluejay isn't out, I guess i could release it, although the normal maps aren't that great and it doesn't fit well with hair. I am currently trying to mess around with a beak I found on a model sharing site, but that's not going well, and will probaby never be fully articulated for emotions/speech. if your fine with bad normal maps and badly fitting hair, i'll post the argonian head based one in the photo, as i made it mostly myself and would only need to credit 2 people. ...and, if you tried my mod in the past, I have been slowly updating, the imperials have been updated in the last 6 months or so i think, the deer are a new replacer option for high elves and if I can figure out where 2 meshes came from, I'll be releasing an improved hyena. ... come to think of it i updated the bear and woodelves, i should release those soon...

I like that deer, but will probably put it towards the wood elves, and the bluejay would go to High elves, with a darkened version (hopefully crow like) to the dark elves. It may just make me have to alter my version of airfight to bar certain races and apply new wings to races that I want to have them. Hmm.... will have to check if airfight system can apply to just npcs..... that would be sweet. Of course, it will probably be a while before I get that ambition. I actually just got back into oblivion after a few months break. I was working on a "sideways conversion" that had TWMP locations, full UL, full HESU, ROC, OCR and BC all merged down to 2 esm and like 4 or 5 esp. Steam derped my steam folder and I lost it all. 5 months of 60+ hrs per week to make a fully functional Tamriel. I was also going to add a ton of other villages from other modders to fill in the areas that seemed too empty, then add in things for realism/immersion. Enhanced Deadric Invasion, altered to bring the oblivion crisis to the entire continent. It was going to be meant to be more like a survival experience. And if everything would have worked, the MQ would auto complete with no interaction from the player. Was going to try to alter it so it would advance the quest stage according to player level, with some essential npc getting the credit. Then, the city gates could still open and you could choose to help out. Also wanted to change the guilds so you didn't become head of all them. I mean, seriously, you lead the FG, MG, DB, TG, do all sorts of run around crap for so many regular people and save the world??? That much to do would drive someone insane, lol. I like a little realism in my fantasy. Oh, as far as the hair goes, I can work around that. The hair on my chimaera is actually an animated wig that is part of my tail mesh. lol, my tali mesh is my tail, wings, hair, head fins (gills, f.y.i.), glasses, claws/knuckles, arm spikes and tail spikes. My race has no hair available.

I'm just glad when I can use people's stuff. @Blaze69 The Dragorian and Dranaugh updated is where I pulled a lot from. The wings, if you wanted to do something with them, are set to use the same texture for all parts. If you seperate the parts in the cs, you can set different textures for different sections. The main part of the wings needs the male texture if using a body texture on it. I use HGEC for my character, so found a texture I liked that was for HGEC and RM (nonyxia cheetah), set the wing arms to use the male body, the skin part actually has a lava texture.

Fienyx Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Well, like I said, when/if I get ambition to make the changes (having hesitations as to the effects with tamago/hiyoko) my wood elves will be deer. Was curious though, would you like your bat race to have wings like what I use, and able to fly? As I posted somewhere, the flight script I altered is a bit more stable than the original. Only time I have any real issues with it is when I'm at any of the faster than default flight speeds and smash into something. Need to start flight in 3rd person then switch to 1st if you like 1st person view (which has a nice flight effect with this method) Start flying by running, not in sneak, hold your fly button (I have mine set to Tab, and my journal I use F1-F4) and jump. Uses fatigue, trains acrobatics and sneak (because it sets you to sneak for default speed) To speed up, can press sneak button, and in either speed, the run button (L shift) also speeds you up some. Yes, 4 speeds. I usually don't touch the shift button while flying, and only leave sneak while gliding after my fatigue goes too low. From Cloud Top, after I get Fingers of the Mountain, I can glide all the way back to Chorrol. Hence why I like OCR. Land right infron of the Mages Guild. Have a few more tweaks to the script before it's finished, but would be willing to do that.

Have a few more tweaks to the script before it's finished, but would be willing to do that. defiantly sounds interesting, what kind of skeleton does it use? does it require an install of the drake race? i have a particularly unstable game and am a bit fearful of adding to it right, now, but a gliding system sounds like something I'd like to try.
