VanZen Posted June 9, 2012 Author Posted June 9, 2012 from the way the glass is aroung the gaping hole that used to be my window it liiks like they came in that way and out the front door.. there is 3 sets of foot prints that i have never seen. there is no note so i dont think it was a vendetta kind of thing and im guessing they dont want to make a deal for my gear. it looks like they knew what it was because they left all the outdated stuff like PCI gfx cards and audio adapters and took the PCI-E adapters. also left the IDE hdd and took the SATA! some of this stuff was on ebay so i had to cancel the auctions. i gave the cops my recipts and s/n of my hardware and they will check the pawn shops but if they know what this stuff is i doubt it will be sold. damn! i want to ask you guys for help but i know theres not a damn thing that can be done Thanks for asking VanZen
VanZen Posted June 9, 2012 Author Posted June 9, 2012 ok first thing you can do is grab a few flash drives, a zip or external hard disk and back your projects up if you haven't all ready second thing keep uploading and posting urls and hop links. make loverslab a stronger community. third thing install a surveillance system if you run an editing studio or as i like to call "command center!" its a big loss but i can start over. that was 7 years of collecting and building. im going to miss my asus p6t7 ws for sure but it gives me reason to get the asus rampage 3 extreme.. what really blows is my night shadow race project and flapping animated wings mesh, rigging .kf and .dds are gone! im really letting a few people down here... BTW: not happy with the thieves guild at the moment!! VanZen
VanZen Posted June 9, 2012 Author Posted June 9, 2012 this is the only photo i can find at the moment and this is my D945pvs [spoiler ]
FusRoDah Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 I'm really sorry for your loss, bro'. Especially since the Cops barely retrieve the stuff. You should put your files on an external cloud/dropbox from now on though. Won't save hardware, But you'd still have the stuff you worked so hard on.
Ark of Truth Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 If that was the only stuff they took then to be honest it normally someone who has been in your place before.
tacomarine Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 sry for kinda butting in but did the cops even find anything?
johneb Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 I'll bet it was some assholes who knew exactly what you had. You probably know them and they've been in your home before. We should round up a posse and take back your stuff after inflicting major damage on the perpetrators.
Guest Loogie Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 This sounds like something for your home insurance to handle.
Brucealso Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 Dude that sucks..i hope they find out who did it and cut there fingers off and shove them up the perpetrators ass.
xartom Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 That's awful, hope you recover your things soon. Luckily, it's electronics not things like shoes so it'll be a bit easier to track. There's been a bad break in/vandalism string the past few days in my neighborhood, but it's on the super rough side of town anyway.
FusRoDah Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 If that was the only stuff they took then to be honest it normally someone who has been in your place before. Unless the stuff was close to a clear window.
thesapien Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 If that was the only stuff they took then to be honest it normally someone who has been in your place before. Maybe, but before jumping someone who might be innocent, such things can also travel word of mouth or had just been overheard. That said, has anyone been knocking at your door recently, offering something you didn't want but while peeking inside? I miss having my last roommate's big loud dog around. I loved the way he'd bark at any strangers knocking at the door so anyone would know this wasn't a good place to stake out. So, yeah, maybe get a big bad dog.
Guest Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 Damn dude, that really sucks. I always stress people that I know to invest in some kind of home security in case of emergencies. What I don't recommend at all are signs such as "beware of dog" or "trespassers will be shot" etc because that just gives the thief more incentive to rob you since he/she will think that you own something valuable. In the end, robbers don't just take your items, but your peace of mind. But at any rate, I hope you get your things back and I hope that this will make you wiser in the long run.
Dreamer102 Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 If that was the only stuff they took then to be honest it normally someone who has been in your place before. I agree, someone would have to have seen all of the stuff in your production studio in order to grab those SPECIFIC items. I hide everything when anyone comes over, be it family, friends or workers for the cable.
adrenaline Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Damn! I forgot to warn you a very important thing! HAVE YOU CHANGED YOUR PASSWORDS OF SOME OF YOUR IMPORTANT ACCOUNTS?? You'd better hurry to change them, the thief may change your passowrds through the data saved in your computer!

thesapien Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Hah, insurance has always kind of puzzled me. Someone else (the insurance company) has been doing the numbers and only provides the service as it is profitable to them, meaning that chances are that you'll end up paying them more than you'll ever see come back. So I tend to go with the odds and avoid insurance unless I'm forced into the game by the state. Sure, some people win big with insurance. But so do players in Vegas.
Jerbsinator Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 You seem to be handling this well. I would be SUPER EXPLODY PISSED, and my system isn't even as good as yours.

I have a running list of everyone that has ever been in my house with dates and times. If something goes missing, I have my shortlist of suspects. I have home insurance and cameras monitoring my property as well, but I just like to fight.
