galgat Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Any one here play this yet ? I Actually like it.. A lot ! It is such and innovative concept, and I have actually never seen another game take the random creation of things to such and extreme . It boggles the mind. 1. I have read all the, I can not find my friends, complaint's> I can kind of understand that, but I always play single player anyway, mostly always. Also as I understand it You were never really meant to find anyone. 2. I know it has a lot of bug's I guess >> I have not really ran into any other than I think two CTD over maybe 80 Hours of play. 3. It really is a very relaxing game to play, as I can avoid most of the really hard parts if i want>> as in seeing how many pirate's I can kill before they get me, or taking out sentinel's until they finally get me, or there was this one dinosaur Planet that was really tough, with all the aggressive creatures attacking me all the time. 4. It I guess is not a game for everyone, and even with the Procedural Creation, things can get pretty similar, but I still run across interesting things all the time. 5. The aliens need work, and I like the mini brain teaser puzzle's. I think they should not be to hard with Quintilian galaxies to Explore, it makes sense that there not to hard. 6. I think for Hellogames, as I understand it originally until close to release time having only like 5 people to make this game. It is quite and achievement. 7. Does it need work, Oh Hell Yes!!! But everything I read shows that they are trying to weed out the problems, and patch anything that is wrong... I also read where they intend to expand, and update it. 8. I have payed more for less in many games, so I am not bothered to much. But I read some pretty disgruntled feedback on it. As I said i have really enjoyed it myself, but I do understand some people being upset. I was just mainly wondering if anyone here had played it, and there thought's hopefully in a friendly fashion.
blind dog Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Very very boring. Also completely unlike what it was marketed as.
LibertyPrime Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 More like No Man's Buy. Hahahahahahahaha Hahahahaha Hahaha... Ha?
Guest MonsterFish Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Literally pathetic Not even worth pirating
Leeeeeroy Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Literally 3D Starbound. But with less content
dult Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 You ain't the only weird one, been loving it since release. Regardless of what it was "supposed" to have(and there's a pretty good arguement that can be made for the guy mostly just being bad about specifying what he and his team was currently aiming for, rather than intentionally lying in interviews), it's been a fun game that isn't like a lot of other things. That said, I also think it'll also probably be the only game that drops this site's people from their generally pretty relaxed attitudes. Those who are annoyed with this game tend to be downright awful...

dult Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Yes, yes. That's the archived post. The original was taken down because the guy was actually enjoying the game anyways, but felt like making the post simply because he found it kind of sad. Then the community jumped on that shit so damn hard that he took it down, and left said community. BTW, love that the post itself got copied and it's still easy to find that copy, but the thing talking about why the guy deleted it is an absolute bitch to find. Proof of what I'm talking about in the first link.http://www.vice.com/read/inside-the-nasty-no-mans-sky-backlash Edit: Also related: http://www.polygon.com/2016/8/29/12691326/no-mans-sky-sony-hello-games-hate
Guest MonsterFish Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 The guy took it down cus he deleted his account for unknown reasons. Literally the first line of the reddit post. I don't believe for a second that the person who claims he is that user is in fact that user. >Brings up good points about Sean Murray being a lying cunt, with rainman levels of meticulousness that would have taken hours to do and clip finding >I was only trying to help guys, the game has potential K The reason it's probably not as often cited is because Vice is full of pseudo intellectuals who will just about write anything they hear from the guy down the street on a piece of paper and say it's true. About as credible as toilet graffiti
JayJay187 Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 It's a shame they oversold it to us as fuck, especially in their trailers and released game play videos. I played it for around an hour and was extremely let down, the only thing I thought was OK, was idling in space.
redeyesandlonghair Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Very very boring. Also completely unlike what it was marketed as. I never saw any of the marketing, and I was still disappointed. I can see why some people might like it. After all, there are people who enjoy 'walking simulators', and this is at least a step or two up from that. You can poke on resources and build things. Me personally the game bores me to tears ( or more accurately to a quick refund request ) but I'm a action-oriented gamer and I need lots of fast movement and explosions to keep me interested. I'm just clearly not the target audience. I tried it out because I'm always looking for that great space game that makes me think of a fully fleshed out, modern Escape Velocity. NMS was clearly not that.
JayJay187 Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 I think the major let down for most people, is how good this shit looked through the videos they published.
Jerbsinator Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Apparently a lot of game retailers like Steam and PSN have been giving full refunds, even to people that have 50+ hours into the game. The backlash must be pretty bad if this is the case.

The backlash must be pretty bad if this is the case. No. This is not true. It was a tentative to get refunds when no more possible. (Steam by policy gives you refund only for the first few hours (how many depends on the game) and mainly because if you get a game that you cannot actually install, you deserve a refund.) Don't like the game in few minutes? OK. Don't like the game after you played 10 hours? Not a problem for the reseller(s). And for this specific game, and extra line of the agreement is now shown on the main "buy" button. (No exceptions on refunds for this game.) Is this game good? Technically it is well implemented. It just lacks variety. So gets boring quite soon.

It is true, but was just a weekend thing, probably not doing it now....or at the very least you need to have a very good reason.
Brvtality Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 I put in about 40 hours, found the center and now I'm just sort of idling until a few updates improve it. Some of the mods for it already look pretty nice, I figure if nothing else it'll be a fun little thing for people to tinker on with mods. It does wear a little thin fast, I think the only thing that kept me searching was looking for a really sweet looking spaceship with 48 slots. Hoping in time they find a way to let you customize it and your multi-tool. I'd also like to see more realistic star systems and flight mechanics in time. The childproofing of flight over planets kinda bummed me out.
galgat Posted August 30, 2016 Author Posted August 30, 2016 Glad to get some Honest feelings from you all. I guess I am odd then, as I have been enjoying it, the pirate fights, pissing off the Sentinel's so thay get really hostile, exploring the world is sort of just fun for me ( takes some imaginations at times, but fun for me ). I start thinking I have seen all the variations, and then the next planet will have something that just freaks me out. But yes it is all very repetitive, but what I see mainly is the start of and engine, that could really change gaming, and possibly take it to another level. I agree it is somewhat crappy in many places right now, but the potential is interesting to say the least. I just sort of hate to be to critical of something that maybe could be the stepping stone for some really amazing games. They have at least reported that they intend to update, and continue to repair its weak spot's, and bug's. So, like I said I am enjoying it. And I am hoping over time they continue to repair, and update til it comes closer to what everyone was expecting. Probably won't happen, but I have had many hours of fun out of it as it is, and I am hopeful that they do keep there word, and patch, and repair where needed.
Guest Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Repairing bugs is a must. And about all companies do that. The game is OK, but for many gamers will be too much repetitive to be interesting. Is is an excellent proof of concept (with a really good implementation.) If the price was less (probably the half of the actual cost) I will recommend it. But it is too much expensive. But gamers expecting some "story based" game will be deluded.
Ashkandii Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 If you forget everything they promised, its a decent game i got about 20 hours before i got bored of it (which is fantastic for me) If you compare the game to everything they promised then i can see why people bash on this game. At this point i wouldn't even mind a "DLC" to add everything they promised.

Good or bad being very relative things, the game lacks meaningful content, the procedural instancing map is incredibly uneven and sparse and it runs very badly even on systems with 970s and 980s and the AMD equivalent. It is a 25 dollar game being sold for 60, and that's probably the largest issue people have.
Jerbsinator Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 The game definitely has potential and I will probably pick it up when it's cheaper but as of right now the price is unacceptable for what is being sold. However, if this game has even half of the potential for mods that Skyrim or Fallout have then this game could be great in the future and not even need the devs to fix it (although they definitely should). Even now some of the mods relating to space seem really cool and make at least space travel look and feel a whole lot better.
Darkening Demise Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Murray, Howard, and Molyneux are great con artists.
dult Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Hey now... let's be honest. At least with Todd Howard the tools to make the game into your (wet) dream are in or get delivered to the player relatively soon after release:D More seriously, he may be why I don't tend to focus too much on pre-release info beyond the extreme basics, which usually seems to work pretty well. (AKA, NMS has a procedurally generated 3d universe, and that was certainly delivered even if you think it doesn't have enough variety, Oblivion/Skyrim are first-person open-world adventures, etc.) I adore the Elder Scrolls games, but I also remember hearing all about "radiant AI" before Oblivion came out, getting the game, and realizing pretty quick that that certainly wasn't in. Edited for: wetness
