EmperorClydeIV Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 I can't seem to figure out why. When I start a new game with OKW, it works fine. However, when I reload a saved game, I always get the same error : "A serious error as occurred while loading "gamefilename.sims3". It is strongly recommended that you restart the application." I have stripped down my mods list to the bare minimum and deleted the cache files to recreate them. Do you have any tips? Anything I should check/test to find the source of the problem? Here are my current mods : Thanks
lungpaul Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 if its only with a saved game it sounds like you need to clear you cashe files before running the game
EmperorClydeIV Posted May 20, 2016 Author Posted May 20, 2016 Hmm! It worked! I don't get it. In my many tests, I deleted the cache files many times, but it was always before starting a new game, never after. I thought that deleting the cache files was to make sure the game load newly installed mods. I guess it's more than that. Thanks lungpaul
EmperorClydeIV Posted May 20, 2016 Author Posted May 20, 2016 It worked... until it didn't. I started to put back in a few more mods, and the same behavior started again. Maybe it was luck that deleting the cache files repaired my problem that one time. Can a faulty mod create that behavior? Work when starting a new game but crash when loading a savegame? Maybe one of the mods I added is the cause, and that lungpaul's solution was ok for my previous problem, but now I'm facing a other problem who looks exacly the same...
maraas Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 You could also check if you have a "currentgame.sims3"-folder(same place as where you find your cache-files). Delete this if there is something in it. It might be caused by a faulty mod or a mod needing updates(doublecheck that your nraas mods are up to date) or a conflicting mod. Or a corrupted savegame? If the problem persists try adding one and one mod. delete cache and start game between every mod, to see if everything work before trying another(yes i know it is tedious but that`s how it is :/) This could also be the sim-troll bug secretly installed in every simgame. It is programmed to start randomly and the only solution to fix it is to crawl around a tree wearing nothing but your pj`s at midday, shouting words of praise to the almighty sim-GOD. This has do be done for at least 3 minutes, or until the men in white comes with a straightjacket! Good luck
MaryJane Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 When you save your game, do you get an error? I've had the same problem, but that was due to an error while trying to save the game. My save file got corrupted and I had to delete it and go back to a backup (which I luckily had) When saving your game, it's better to use the 'save as' instead of the 'save'. You don't have to change the name of your save all the time, but a couple of times is recommended. If such an error occurs you can go back to a previous save.
EmperorClydeIV Posted May 21, 2016 Author Posted May 21, 2016 maraas : my "currentgame.smis3" is empty MaryJane : no error at save, only at load I guess I'm going back to adding and testing my mods 1 by 1. My prayers to the sim-GOD are a very personal thing for me. I'd rather not go public and be taken by the men-in-white.
Wicked Loveth Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 this could be a stupid question -- is this a new install of the Kinky Mod? I would try deleting the Kinky Mod files and reinstalling them. You never know... It sounds like everything was Ok until you tried adding new mods. That might be your focus area--within those mods that you tried to install and then encountered the same error. I've been looking at the pictures of your Mod list and I can't see anything that jumps out at me. If the problem persists try reinstalling the Kinky Mod after completely deleting the files--if you haven't tried that already. Deleting the Cache files does make the game load a bit faster and of course, you should always clear them after installing new mods before you run the game. You may want to check to see if the You Are Real mods are compatible with your PC. That's the only thing I can think of. Good luck! If it's a Kinky Mod issue could you please let us know in the FAQ thread too! Thank you~
EmperorClydeIV Posted May 21, 2016 Author Posted May 21, 2016 I've cut back my mod list back to the list in the original post. I still get an error while loading a game, so the problem is not in a mod added after that. It does not fail to load every time though. Sometime it works, but most of the time it doesn't. I'll keep you updated if I ever find new leads.
