protocolk Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Another thing to consider in favor of them announcing it sooner rather than later, a lot of fans weren't too happy with Fallout 4. If enough people waited until AFTER the game was released and got an idea of whether they'd like it before buying, Bethesda might "rush" TES VI to make up for their huge mistakes. Don't get me wrong, I like Fallout 4, a lot, but there's no denying that it "barely" qualifies as being an RPG. I agree, looks like far hatbour is a rpg and fallout 4 base game is a shitty dlc.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Pretty sure they will do exactly the same thing they did with FO4 and announce the next sequel 4-5 months before it's release date. I honestly think they still plan to milk ESO and Fallout 4 with more generic DLCs. Though, I am looking forward to seeing them destroy the next TES game with voice protagonist and idiotic ME dialogue to see the reactions of many TES fans and the white knights charge in and jusify that crap 100%. I "liked/upvoted" your comment but after playing Far Harbor this weekend I'm a bit more optimistic. Far Harbor was exactly what I expected FO4 to be in the first place and it is really good. It also means that Bethesda listens to the negative reactions from the fans. And since the voiced protagonist and the dialogue system are the two most hated things in the game I think/guess/hope they will not do them in TES6. I didn't have Far Harbor in mind when I posted that. It's their workshop and autmaton and who knows what else to come. At least for those who like Obsidian, Bethesda did one thing right on what they did and made content that should of been in the main game or at least in an actual DLC that adds new lands such as Far Harbor, which I read does add some extra recipes to the craft system. Or was that to the minecraft building? I dunno. Wouldn't surprise me to see the next TES have some of these dlcs come out with extra things. It's just another way to fork money out of people. And what makes it worse, is that you'll have arthmoor release an ultimate patch that will also rely on these silly money grab content.
stwasabi Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Wishlist for the next TES game: * Better game engine and memory management/allocation * Better Battle/Combat Mechanics * Free use of 3rd Party Mods - not just those in the Beth mod site
Kimy Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 There's likely going to be a huge gap between the release of Fallout 4 and the next TES game. Probably 4 years at least. Such a long release cycle would make very little sense in a time and age when most other large studios shoot for yearly releases. Yes, they will milk dry FO4 this year, but I wouldn't be too surprised to see ES6 for Christmas 2017. They have probably been working on it for a long time now.

That depends on if Hines was pulling us, or not. Post is from late last year. Peoples haven't really expected TES VI for 2017. The best bet has been late 2018. Of course this is Bethesda we are talking about. They are rarely forthcoming with any new information, until they are close to release. spoonsinger Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Let's say it will be 2019 with a product which, initially, is sort of FO4 quality rpg wise, (abet 64bit). Lets also say that SkyWind comes out of the door at around about the same time, (abet based a 17 year old rpg and a 32bit engine, but - now that there is a legitimate way to patch the main code via the SKSE plugin preloader - it might have somewhat less bugs by that time). What would you do? Buy and play the shiny new game because it new and shiny. Or wait to see what it's DLC would be like and what restrictions there are on it's development tools - while passing the time playing SkyWind?, (or maybe something else). The latter sort of eats into Beth's income stream under that scenario if the next TES was a bit disappointing. Thinking about it the easiest way they could make 'easy' money would be to just convert Skyrim to 64bit for the current gen consoles, then slurp as many 'console' friendly mods from the existing code base and publish it via their distribution 'network'.
winny257 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Wishlist for the next TES game: * Better game engine and memory management/allocation * Better Battle/Combat Mechanics * Free use of 3rd Party Mods - not just those in the Beth mod site My Wishlist is Easy! Gameworld size at least as WoW. Graphics quality as TW3. good story and especially no bugs! everything else is me shit no matter, my motto is *a good game needs no MODS* Edit: I forgot a little romance as in DA and TW.
Kaz Aanh Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 A good combat system is a must. A good parry, block, sidestep , dodge , roll, proper weapon impact and variety, armor types affecting the combat more than +1to defense", meaning you need blunt weapon or knockdown the enemy plate-user in order to win or thrust a stiletto between his eyes/armor gaps. more advanced combat like using thrusts-attacks, throwing pommels, half-swording, arm-bash, shoulder-bash, kicking, headbutts, using shield EFFECTIVELY to block attacks and to ATTACK, knocking enemies down immobilizing them or finishing but it most likely won't happen at all
edtide25 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Would it be possible for Bethseda to use DX12 engine for the next TES series?
afa Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Pushing it even more towards a character action game sounds bad IMO.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Pushing it even more towards a character action game sounds bad IMO. I doubt it. It's already an extreme combat style game. Not having the rest of it really makes their combat system dull. It needs stuff like parrying and counter attacks. And these can be acquired through perks. You get counter and parrying in Final Fantasy but the difference between that game and this is that Final Fantasy and usually other types of RPGs that have combat system is based on strategic style combat rather thank run and wack everything in sight. Those games are usually just action type games. Skyrim and Fallout are an example of that. So I don't think having parrying and counter attacking, and other combat features would make it any more of a action game than it already is. In fact, what they need to do is similar to Final Fantasy. Depending the class you are grants you these traits. Or. the traits are available for all combat style classes but are much more effective for certain classes like thiev for example would be much more skilled in sneak, parrying and dodging. While a barbaric warrior two handed would be more effective in strength and so on.
