SarahSluttyCatGirl Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 The case is the thermaltake core v1 I have been having a hard time deciding if a new 200mm fan would be good and would aftermarket cpu cooler would help or is it not needed since i don't be doing and OC but just worried about the heat. Also the side vents close to the gpu fan will that get really dusty and the gpu with it.
zzz72w3r Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 If the fans are working and you don't overclock, 99/100 is the PSU and the other 1/100 is something on the MB has expired (capacitor). PS: never skimp in the PSU.
27X Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Ever. Basically your choices are seasonic and evga, and ALWAYS do research for whom is subcontracting the PSU parts and ALWAYS get the absurdly expensive everything warranty., because you may need to invoke it. And yes never fuck around on cooling either. Get the bigass fan, and clean it every week, no exceptions; always ground yourself before cleaning and always use anti static shit to clean with. A PC isn't a console and shouldn't be treated like one, even if all you do is game and pr0n with it.
27X Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Which need to be fluffed through every week unless they're disposable.
Thorham Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Which need to be fluffed through every week unless they're disposable. It's easier than removing dust from the mobo and fans. Also, once a week seems a bit often. As long as the fans can keep sucking in air without a problem, it's fine, and it takes a lot longer than a week for those filters to become so clogged that the fans can't do that.
sila Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html Pick up something from tier 1 or tier 2 on that list preferably, tier 3 and lower are not very good.

Yeah i was going with the evga G2 550 watt or the 460 fanless platinum seasonic but i'm trying to work out how a fanless will do with just one 200mm fan. I am very hyped about the seasonic titanium prime fanless.
oticon Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 just forgo the fans and water cool it , then all you need to deal with is the fans on the rad...
Captain Cobra Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Yeah, then you can forget your fear of fan failures and gain the new fear of coolant leaks.
oticon Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 one should practice knowledge before dismissing water or liquid cooling loops so easily, coolant leaks are not an issue with water cooling, that is unless your using tap water or anti freeze, but if you use a non electrolytic compound or de-ionized water or mineral oil your system will be fine and will survive a coolant breach
Vacaliga Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 If you are not overclocking anything, then rest easy, unless you live in a sauna pretty much any system cooling will do or in other words, as long you have stable air flow you are pretty much good. Cooling gets so overhyped nowadays it's becoming downright silly, not to say having good cooling is a bad thing, but heat is not the big scary Oogie boogieman some make it out to be. If anyone truly believes that. drop me a line. I have some high-performance water-cooling kits for your USB plugs i wanna sell ya. And if dust is such an issue that you have to clean out your system/dust filters each week to keep your system from crashing, clean your room would be my advice.
oticon Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 You have a valid point there Vacaliga, there is no reason to go with water cooling or liquid cooling, if you are staying cool with air, however there are some definite advantages to switching to liquid cooling sound, ambient air temps, less particulate matter finding its way into the pc, less cleaning, better thermal thresh holds, less fans, lower electric bills, less worrying if a fan goes out and changing it out, higher over clocks, more stability, longer equipment life, better cooling over air dynamics, cleaner system, don't need a massive heat sink to cool your components

I don't know, AMD does a good business with their loud space heaters so liquid cooling can solve the noise problem that cheap crap has. Also: Stop smoking.

I use the stock CPU that came with my i7 and have never had any issue, same with previous CPU's i've used and again no issue with them Ever. Once a week sounds like you have OCD, if we worked out the number i think the chance of you accidentally slipping/other random act of god happening and doing damage to the PC is higher than dust affecting performance with that amount of opening and closing
27X Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Where I live there is more than enough dust and not enough trees that this is standard procedure and has jack shit do with OCD and more to do with busted caps and nicked circuits. An ounce of common sense tells you to what level to clean at and when.
oticon Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 wow a little TESTY are we? now common sense would of noted the option to ask him if he lives in a dusty or dirty environment first rather then jump the gun and tell him to clean it every week, not to mention you didn't give him any input on the proper way to clean a pc other then to ground himself, can I ask a stupid question here? if the pc is already plugged into the wall why do you need a ground? has that question ever crossed your mind? also its common practice for people to run out and grab a can of air and spray the pc down with it, the one place you should never blow off is the fans, a facial Blush application brush should be used preferably a natural hair and not artificial should be used, can anyone tell me why not to blow off their fans with Compressed AIR? i know the reason I'm asking to see if you know?
pinky6225 Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 can anyone tell me why not to blow off their fans with Compressed AIR? i know the reason I'm asking to see if you know It annoys the feline overlords and they will get upset and come and scratch the shit out of you
oticon Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 LMAO well that too but no not the reason i speak of anyone else? this question actually comes from my advanced engineering professor, who proposed this to my class, its a common issue with PC marketing and the ways the Retail market uses its clout if you will to help people destroy their PC's unknowingly making them buy new parts more often both from motherboards to fans and other components
