How to move free camera vertically?

I'm playing the Steam version of Skyrim on a Win7-64 PC, using an Xbox 360 controller with a custom map. My issue is not about a tech bug or problem per-se, it's about an apparently-missing function.

I'm using the SexLab Animation Framework's hotkey to toggle free camera, along with a console command to toggle the UI off and on. With those two commands, I'm able to Fraps some beautiful videos, both of an adult nature and of a more general nature.

However, I can't seem to find a way to make the camera move up and down! I can pan (aim) it in any direction, and I can move it in/out (Z axis) and side to side (X axis) but I can't make it move straight up or down (Y axis). :-/

I know it can be done. Several of the regular Skyrim Video guys on YouTube do it all the time in their videos. I have actually asked two of them how they do it, and neither has responded. Trade Secret? :@

So, in order to move the camera higher or lower, I have to "fly it there:" aim it up or down, then move it forward, then level off the aiming and move it backward.    Needless to say, this absurd procedure completely ruins any video, so I can't show it- I have to edit out the camera-flying-to-change-elevation parts before finalizing the video, and sometimes this means I have to omit some of the action that's going on while I'm doing my camera contortions. Just lame.

Does anyone know how I can achieve vertical camera movement, using either the keyboard or controller, like I see others doing on YouTube?

You can tell me. I'm a trustworthy slut. :D

It's a SexLab-specific issue and not Skyrim general.

Perhaps it would be better to post the question here:

Well, thanks for your response, I guess, but it is NOT a SexLab-specific issue, which is why I posted it here instead of in the SexLab area.

The inability to move the free camera vertically is present in vanilla Skyrim, and it is present in SexLab-equipped Skyrim whether you access the free camera using the tfc console command or the SexLab hotkey.

Please, try it out for yourself: enable the free camera in a non-SexLab installation of Skyrim using the tfc command, and tell me if you are able to move the camera in the Y axis, i.e. straight up and down, vertically.... If you can do it, please post HOW you were able to do it, which is my original question.

I, too, would enjoy this tidbit of forbidden knowledge. I've always wondered why it wasn't something that could be done more intuitively, kind like in the Forge in Halo, you can fly around the same as the Skyrim way, but there is also the extra controls for vertical panning. Would be handy.

I do not have a controller and thought it would be a controller <> SexLab problem.

Vertical directly - I do not know, I have never seen.

The height can be controlled with the viewing angle.

Look down + S   or  look up + W = more height
Look down + W  or  look up + S = lower height

Other I do not know it and I have never seen it.

I think that's what she's getting at (me too) that you actually have to look away from what you are trying to in her case film, in my case wondering why it's not present to pan up. It's not much on an issue for me, but I can see where she is coming from.

Just to be crystal clear, my issue is not a panning issue- it is a camera movement issue. Panning means aiming or pointing. There is a difference between moving and pointing.

I already have horizontal and vertical panning. I have no trouble aiming up or aiming down or aiming left or aiming right. However, by definition, panning (aiming) does NOT involve actually moving the camera from one spot to another- changing its position. It only involves changing the direction in which the camera is pointing. I can easily point the camera in any direction I want to. So panning is not the issue.

I can move the camera left and right (X-axis) just fine. I can move the camera closer-in and farther-out (Z-axis) just fine.

What I can't do is move the camera up or down (Y-axis).

I have seen vertical camera movement in some Skyrim videos on YouTube, notably on the "Skyrim Mods Weekly" channel and a couple of similar mod-review channels. I have also seen vertical camera movement in some armor and clothing mod reviews where the camera starts at the feet and slowly moves up the girl's body to her head so you can see every part of the armor (and the girl    :D  ) This tells me that it is, in fact, possible to move the free camera vertically in Skyrim because I have seen it done with my own eyes.

I just need to know how to do it. I suspect that there is some mod, console command or ini tweak that enables it, but for the life of me, I can't find it- which is why I posted the question here.

Far from beeing perfect and needs probably a lot of training and work, but at least some kind of workaround: You could try to play with the customizable camera mod, at least you can do this in MCM menu and the animation will be paused. Still needs work, but you don't miss any interesting parts. It's no free camera though and i'm not sure if that will fit for sexlab scenes, but you can move the camera anywhere you want and move it in any direction you want without losing focus.

Beside that, you could try CEOs 0Sex. I didn't use it much myself because you need to do all the action and say the game what's next, but it's probably just perfect to make videos, the animations are really smooth and well done.

I don't have a proper answer to your question though, sorry :(

Sorry that the answers are not satisfactory.

But I have no idea why you react so upset?
My English really sucks, but I think there is no reason BrimstoneOmega quote because it supports your desire for vertical control.

On other pages Red is a reservation of the moderators, here it is maybe different, but it is not very pleasant.

Racemenu has e.g. a camera control - perhaps an approach?

???

Red was not used to pretend I'm a moderator (if I was a moderator my forum tag would say so) or to denote anger (if I was angry I would have used angry language). It was used for emphasis only. I'm not sure how anyone could interpret it as anger or impersonating a moderator.

I used red simply because it stands out. I'm sorry you found it "unpleasant."

However, since you interpreted my emphasis color as reflecting two situations that are simply not true, I have edited it to be a nice soothing tone of turquoise. :D

Whoops, my bad, please excuse my incorrect terminology, I know what you were asking, just thought that was what panning was. But now I know, :) you learn something everyday I suppose.

LOL My intent was to clarify what my issue is, not to quibble over semantics. Two previous responses here have (apparently) misinterpreted my issue and discussed aiming/pointing the camera up and down, and I simply wanted to clarify that aiming/pointing ("panning") was not my issue.

Thanks for the suggestions, I had never heard of CEO's 0Sex. I'll check it out.

I have used this Customizable Camera mod in the past and it didn't offer any free camera modifications- it just allows you to set various depth-of-field and/or offset values for normal first- and third-person views usiing MCM. However, it's been a while since I used it so I'll revisit their page and see if they've added any free-camera functionality. Thanks.

Turquoise is good - and if you have the solution - you're welcome also in turquoise or pink or whatever - write.
You are really a brand -  or in my language - Du bist schon ne Marke. :P

Hehe, hey you're all good. I takes no offense, nor did I see it as a quibble, it was good of you to clarify, for though I personally knew what you were talking about (vertical movement which is probably boom up or down now that I think about it) my post may have lead others to think differently. I really meant it about learning something new everyday, I've oblivious heard the term "panning" like in the context of pan left or right to follow the actor, and always assumed that to be an actual movement, not simply an aiming thingy, but now I know and I'm better for it.

By the way,  ;)  I took your response in no way to be you panning me. This time I use the word not to describe aiming, lol, but as criticizing. Wow, the English language is so wrought with words that have way too many meanings...

Yes! Boom up and boom down are EXACTLY what I am trying to do!

And as an English major, I love what you did there- turned my semantics clarification into a whole new meaning! Very well done!

Custom camera don't offer a free camera mode in general, what i meant was: See your character in third person, if you need to change position up/down etc, go to MCM and change the values. Like i said, far from beeing perfect, you'll still need to cut the video, but at least the scene doesn't continue. And changes via MCM still appear as movement i think, so it doesn't simply jump.

*edit: seems th pervypotter above answered your question :)

But i think you'll enjoy 0Sex, especially when making videos.  :) Btw, i've tried with SL 1.60 and it was no problem to run both, but it is another framework and you'll need a LOT of keys. So you can't use any sexlab animations and probably you'll need to use the keyboard, but it really looks great and you have much more freedom. You can choose to lay down together and then start stripping for example, go stages back and everything without "jumping" scenes, every movement is animated and as far as i've seen, very fine aligned.

If you want dialogues from sexlab mods you'll have to cut too, but i guess that's not that much work and would be worth it. At least it'll give me an additional reason to watch your videos, i see sexlab scenes often enough when i'm playing ;)
