jondaman123lab Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 i was poking around on fallout wikia and found a page about two vaults http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Vault_69 http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Vault_68 Â vault 69 is a vault with 999 men and only one woman vault 68 is the opposite with 999 women and one man the location of the vault is not stated so putting it in vegas isnt a big deal in my opinion. i immediatly though of sexout when i read the description, Â i figured the best way to get this mod made was to start a thread to get the ball rolling, i realise its a long shot but if u dont ask u dont get. Â I figured the best way to attack this mod would be to have the player open one of the vaults for the first time and either compete with the other 999 of the same sex for the attention of the only other oposite partner around, Â or you could help spread the load of having to sevice 999 other vault member and make life easier for the one girl or man in the vault. Â Any ideas are welcome and anybody is welcome to have a go at making this mod as i have absolutley no technical skills other than a little retexturing and nifskope editing. Â Also this is my first thread so be gentle with me and just let me know if i get stuff wrong. Â i realise i havnt done a great job organising this forum but im probably gunna do some spring cleaning once i have my computer back.
prideslayer Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I like it! Implementing all four options (or rather, both options for both vaults) would be great. Â Male or female player (with companions) in the 999:1 vault, and male or female player (with companions) in the 1:999 vault. All of them definitely have some potential if the effort is put into them.
ChancellorKremlin Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I've known about them for some time, but for whatever reason, I just never thought of Sexout with them. It's reversed btw, 69 is all women one guy, and 68 all men and one girl. Â It does definitely open up all sorts of possibilities, do we have any mappers among us who would even be up for creating such a cell(s)?
zippy57 Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Might have a problem keeping this realistic, though. It's been over a hundred years since the vault was sealed. Wouldn't the ratio have changed by the time of FNV? Â EDIT: I could make the cell if someone else was handling the scripting and everything.
sen4mi Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Once upon a time, I had a different idea: http://www.loverslab.com/showthread.php?tid=6915&pid=136167#pid136167 Â But this kind of mod some design obstacles, I think: how do you tell an interesting story and how do you make game play interesting? Â Currently, sexout plays a scene for you, but your interactions mostly happen in conversations. Sex itself can be compelling, but this depends on how you feel and while some sexual feelings are positive, some are negative. So, depending on your current biochemistry you may be looking for a very different kind of experience. Â So, to design a story that can "fit" how the player is currently feeling, you probably need several iterations of story design -- running through the story using different perspectives. But you still need some kind of story concept to hold everything together (and, ideally, to help you build some narrative tension). Â So... story... you are not going to be able to design feelings and reactions for a thousand people. Will those vaults have even survived? Or will they be a horror show full of skeletons? Vault 68 will probably eventually have had some small number of kids, and a bunch of old men. Vault 69 will have had its share of drama and so on, but unless vaulttec was their usual murderous selves they might have eventually reached some kind of stable population with just an unusual period in their history?
zippy57 Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 So... story... you are not going to be able to design feelings and reactions for a thousand people. What you do here is have the player interact with ten people and imply the existence of the other nine hundred ninety somehow. Off-hand references to people the player never sees can imply a larger group, just don't force it. Locked doors and locked rooms can imply the existence of more space. Or you can always do what FNV does and only have a few named NPCs and make the rest totally generic "Vault Citizen" NPCs or whatever.
ChancellorKremlin Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Yeah, that's a good point. Maybe it's like Vault 11, where they are told if they don't keep that formula going, the computer will automatically kill them all. Â Vault 68 is relatively easy, because only one woman would be giving birth, and obviously the vault population would drop dramatically over the centuries, with only a handful of survivors after 200 years (say between 10-25, I'm thinking the number of times a woman could realistically give birth back to back before expiring) and that would be the ideal number of individuals for a cell anyway. Â Vault 69 is a lot more complicated, as there are potentially 999 women that can be giving birth at any one time. Maybe part of the program requires that all females be brought up to replace parent deaths up to a certain number, and all males killed at birth, except for the 'inheritor' which will take his father's place and eventually breed with his half sisters. The clincher - once the inheritor reaches the age of 18, his father is 'sacrificed' much like those children stories where tribals meet an outsider, praise him with every kind of wealth and service, and then throw him into the volcano. The cycle repeats till the present time. Â Now, say, enter the courier (male) - the current 'inheritor' has died, either from exhaustion or before his time was due, the current 'child' is not yet of breeding age, and the women are ecstatic and raise the new 'inheritor' - who thinks he has the world because he has to fuck them all. Obviously, he doesn't realise he is going to be killed (say the 'child' is actually like 17 or 17 and a half, to really add the pressure) and soon, the courier finds himself being taken deeper into the depths of the vault, to what the women say will be his 'ceremony' when really they are going to kill him in some massive orgy...
prideslayer Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 An easy "answer" to the problem of breeding could be that all pregnancies are actually handled in-vitro (clones like vault 108) by a mr. handy or something like that, that is responsible for carrying out the design goals when it comes to the twisted experiment of the vault. Â Easy (read: cheap) way to keep the population right around where you want it. Mr Handy keeps a few spare clones on standby for unexpected (or expected) deaths, and the population is sterile. Maybe they don't even know they are clones.
ChancellorKremlin Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 That's a good idea. I also like the idea of just having a few 'inaccessible' doors that hint at there being more to the vault, as FNV dos with most of it's other stuff.
prideslayer Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 That's a good idea. I also like the idea of just having a few 'inaccessible' doors that hint at there being more to the vault' date=' as FNV dos with most of it's other stuff. [/quote'] Â A good ploy with the doors is to put them near windows, build out the room inside, and set some NPCs with idle/walk packages to just move around in there. Set some fake doors-to-nowhere on other interior walls. Â The illusion of space is easier if it's gradual; an area you can walk in with people you an interact with, another are with people that you can't get to, and the implication of more space beyond.
jondaman123lab Posted April 25, 2012 Author Posted April 25, 2012 wow didnt expect such a flow of ideas keep it coming people. If more ideas get put on the page ill edit the main post to include a summary of ideas with credits inluded to make life easier for anyone interedted Â
Guest user29 Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 1000 npcs would make gamebryo shit itself pretty hard. I'm assuming you'd just imply most of them and have them behind locked doors or something?
zippy57 Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 1000 npcs would make gamebryo shit itself pretty hard. I'm assuming you'd just imply most of them and have them behind locked doors or something?Yep, like I said before. Of course, you could theoretically have 1000 NPCs if you wanted to put in the development time and set up the cells so that they weren't all in the active cell at the same time. I think.
ComVlad Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 As a suggestion, you can explain both the continued existence of the vaults and the lower population with failing life support..As the vault systems break down more and more of it becomes inaccessible and the smaller the population it can support as food and ventilation systems fail. The explanation can work with both the invitro clones and the controlled breeding situations and you can base the related quests and interactions on the vaults trying to maintain there original man vs woman ratio possibly due to a threat by the vault mainframe or the promise of a reward by the same
ChancellorKremlin Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Well, like I suggested, Vault 69 would actually be easier to maintain because numbers could constantly be replenished, which is not the same as Vault 68. There could be some sort of 'orders' the Vault Dwellers have to follow, like I suggested for Vault 69.
Phelps1247 Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Make it an alternate start? The males find your female character and take her into the vault or other way around.
zippy57 Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 I don't think Vault-Tec would have wanted to artificially maintain the ratio as that would have defeated the whole purpose of the experiment; seeing how people reacted to the obvious problems that followed. Though I suppose that freezing the ratio would also be a possible experiment, it's just never how I saw the intent of the Vaults. Â That being said, if the ratio isn't frozen at 999:1 there's nothing special about them and we have no point to make a mod for them, so... The question is now not only how the ratio is kept how it is, but also why the residents of the vault haven't attempted to stop it, or if they have why they have failed. Vault 11 provides a good starting point, but we don't want to just copy that as that would just be retelling a story that's already been told.
sen4mi Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 That being said' date=' if the ratio isn't frozen at 999:1 there's nothing special about them and we have no point to make a mod for them, so... [/quote'] Â I think that this would depend on the nature of the mod. Â Imagine that the vault activities were recorded and that VR tapes were being generated, based on "actual events". Perhaps the point was "what would the effects of these VR tapes be on the person experiencing being the center of all this attention". And the tapes themselves might have been doctored (or maybe there was special VR equipment) depending on the nature of the experiment. Â (Now all you need is for the courier to get the tapes and access to VR equipment...) Â Most vault scenarios in fallout3 and even New Vegas had a strong horror element to them. The vaults look to be shoddy designs for sustaining human society -- we are told that that was never their real purpose -- instead we get to see the consequences of shoddy experiments being pressed into play when peoples lives depended on them and mostly you get to see how bad things can be. If we want something that fits the pattern which is not pure horror, I think we should somehow get away from the 200 year history that makes horriffic outcomes so likely.
ChancellorKremlin Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 I don't think Vault-Tec would have wanted to artificially maintain the ratio as that would have defeated the whole purpose of the experiment; seeing how people reacted to the obvious problems that followed. Vault 11 provides a good starting point, but we don't want to just copy that as that would just be retelling a story that's already been told. [/quote'] Â I'm not sure I entirely agree. The purpose of the Vaults, outside of evil social experiments, were to see how the inhabitants would cope through said social experiments, by finding ways to deal with whatever limitations had been imposed on them. Â We see in a lot of Vaults (not just 11) that the Overseer is frequently 'in on it' and has to literally oversee how the experiment plays out, according to a set of rules and so forth. So the idea of trying to get the vault inhabitants to keep the original numbers (or being forced by it, say, through a threat of force similar to that used in Vault 11) isn't so much copying Vault 11 but more of a theme that is ongoing with the Vault lore anyway. Â In any case, as you said, the ration for at least one of the vaults has to be kept, otherwise there is nothing to make it special. Realistically, it would have to be Vault 69, because that is the only Vault that would be capable of keeping it's numbers high. Vault 68 would have probably failed after a generation, because there would be no way of supporting a Vault with only a handful of people. Â Â Â Â Â
jondaman123lab Posted April 26, 2012 Author Posted April 26, 2012 i reckon a reasonable path would be the 999men vault with the following characteristics 1. The 999 men in the vault are maintained by cloning this has the advantage of not needing to design many different npc,s wich i have gathered is difficult 2. Only a sample of the population of males would actually be made (the 999 males would just be mentioned). 3. A vault would need to be made to look like it its actually much bigger( using fake inaccesible doors and hallways. 4.the single female is sterile and is only needed to keep the population happy through the worlds oldest profession.im gunna throw the name (vault queen or VQ) into the hat 5. A good entrance for the player (female would be my choice because my pc is) would be as an outsider who is paid to help the VQ who is sick or injured for some reason to keep the population happy.
zippy57 Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 1. The 999 men in the vault are maintained by cloning this has the advantage of not needing to design many different npc' date='s wich i have gathered is difficult[/quote']The main problem here is that the Vault wasn't filled with 999 clones, it was filled with 999 people. (Okay, so it doesn't specifically say this anywhere but I seriously doubt this was the case.) You'd have to come up with a reason they started cloning themselves, how they managed to do it, and why only one person was cloned. Here's where we need to ask the question, Why are they not trying to leave the Vault?
ChancellorKremlin Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Indeed. There needs to be some compelling reason making them stay. With other Vaults, it was hysteria and false surface readings, others it was threat of force, etc. I quite like brainwashing myself. Â Â
Kuroshu Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 For the 999F:1M Vault The reason could be simple... Why would a man want to leave a place were he has 999 women? or even why would he want to share all these women, he has a fucking Harem. If anything the women would be the ones trying to get out. Why haven't day? Because the door will only open for a man(or so they are led to believe) and they can't threaten the man with death since if the man dies then the vault will cease functioning. How is their population maintained? Either the children "mysteriously" disappears before they even give birth(the machines sneak in the women's rooms and delivers them then take the babies into a facility.) this method's quest would involve a Fem PC to be pregnant and sleep in one of the rooms to find out the secrets of the vault. Male PCs need to have a Pregnant Female with them and sleep or to stake out a Female NPC's room. The other method is that the original Vault dwellers were cloned and when a certain age is reach are all mass killed. Then the new clones will be released with the original's memories up till the time they went into the vault. So they will always think it's Still that year they went in (dunno what year). Â For the 999M:1F The Female might definitely wants to leave and possibly Most of the Males. The reason they can't could be because the door will only let 1 person out and the rest will be killed, and probably can be only opened/passed by a Female. So the males have no choice but to stay and force the woman to stay. Their continual survival? The female has to take a medicine that makes her very fertile often resulting in multiple children. Most of which are male and few females. The Females are either killed or again "Mysteriously" disappear(They are grown in tubes incase there are no females in the next generation.) Quest for this one could be if Male a male. You manage to enter the vault and they aren't too happy that your here and could turn hostile if you don't play your cards right. They'll be a bit nicer if you have female companions but will take advantage of them(separate you from them and rape them continuously). The quest will be you trying to help the Female of the Vault escape and optionally freeing the Females in reserve. The rewards could be you force them all to be your slaves, or let them choose.(the one you saved will happily stay with you) some will say and others will leave. As Females they will welcome you with open arms If you have Female Companions they will separate you from them and rape them. You meet the Female Vault Dweller for a brief moment she tries to warn you but couldn't. The Males will then try to persuade/trick you to service/stay with them. If you agree then they'll brand you theirs and prevent you from leaving. Sooner or later the Female Vault Dweller will die. You can investigate or not. Either way the vault machines will turn against you and try to kill you. The males will fight them(Your useful to them ALIVE duh) while you shutdown the Vault Main controls. You do so but only the hostile parts(not the life support) but the males still can't exit. Only Females can. So they ask you to bring more females. End this Quest. Rewards? Your own Male Harem... And possibly orgy. If you don't agree, they will turn hostile and try to knock you out. If you beat them you make your escape, and optionally save the female(if you don't she'd probably receive a beating or killed, and replaced by a new one). If they beat you then you are raped, and forced to be their "toy" you meet the Female Vault Dweller again(and maybe your Companions) again. She will beg you to escape with her. You can escape now or at a later time. Choosing to escape later will let you Investigate the Vault till a few days later. After which you will be attacked by one of the Vault's machines. You find out the Vault doesn't like your presence and was hoping you'd be gone but isn't. One of the males find you about to be attacked and the machine and males they fight. If one of the male find out they will tell you to go back into your room. If you agree you'd be sent back. If you don't they'll turn hostile. You make your escape Optionally saving the Reserved Women, and shutting down the Vault System completely(includes life-support, time limit to escape) or just the machines(not life-support, no timelimit). Rewards? Same as the males but the Female Dweller you saved won't ever have sex with another man(traumatized) but the others who stay with you will be able to. And if you return there they will won't be too happy. You can then wipe them all out, leave quietly, or service them. You can then bring back women to them. If you bring back the female dwellers and opt to service them she will be disgusted and leave, you can then force her to do the same in which case she will turn hostile, beating her will return her back as the vault's toy. You can do the same with the rest of the girls you "saved." Â I'm going to add my quest idea for the 999F:1M later for now I have a date I need to get to. Â EDIT: HOLY F S Text of wall... If anyone wants me to I can orginaze it in a better format (bullet format maybe?) when I post/edit the 999F:1M Idea
jondaman123lab Posted April 26, 2012 Author Posted April 26, 2012 i cant do quote any previous comments at the moment because my laptops bust so im using my useless phone with no copy and paste function at the moment. so im just gunna put the name of the person who made the comment and my reply for now as a temp thing  chancellorkremlin  i think your right about the 999 clones it doesnt seem right  , i guess it would be better if the 999 were all maintained by artificial birthing, vault tech could be using the vault as an experiment to test the possibility of a society without women and the single female is there to ensure the population does not die out completely if the all male society fails,  obviously an all male society should not need a female, but perhaps the (master computer) automatically detected a flaw in male nature and realised that they need a females to love for them to properly function.  This could be where the reasoning behind staying could come from, the computer could educate the 999 male inhabitants from birth to love the vault queen and beleve she is the only female left in existence and that leaving would mean no more boom boom time.  When the courier and if possible all female companions arrive the male inhabitants could be lead to believe that the master computer has rewarded there loyalty by bio-producing more females for more boom boom    Â
zippy57 Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 For the 999F:1M Vault The reason could be simple... Why would a man want to leave a place were he has 999 women? or even why would he want to share all these women' date=' he has a fucking Harem.[/quote']While this may work on the surface, I think it might start to fall apart if you start going for a character with a complete backstory. Why haven't day? Because the door will only open for a man(or so they are led to believe) and they can't threaten the man with death since if the man dies then the vault will cease functioning. If the door won't open except for a man' date=' a female PC can't enter the vault. If that's only a ruse, then a female PC can enter, and all the women in the vault will realize they can leave if they want to and will then do so.The other method is that the original Vault dwellers were cloned and when a certain age is reach are all mass killed. Then the new clones will be released with the original's memories up till the time they went into the vault. If the door allows the opportunity for one person to leave, than at some point someone is going to attempt to get out, even if it means everyone else would die. If the door just refuses to open at all, than no one can even try to leave. You find out the Vault doesn't like your presence and was hoping you'd be gone but isn't. perhaps the (master computer) automatically detected a flaw in male nature and realised that they need a females to love for them to properly function. This makes me ask several questions. Mainly' date=' how does the Vault know you're there? And if it doesn't like you being there why did it let you in at all? Also, I always got the impression any malfunctions or other things happening in the vault were pre-programmed by Vault-Tec; I'm not sure the computers have the ability to improvise.obviously an all male society should not need a female?
