Mod for reducing arousal?

Recommended Posts

I wasn't quite sure where to post this. Does anyone know whether there is any mod out there which allows for in-game solutions to decrease your Exposure in SexlabAroused more quickly than waiting for the partial decay? Like potions that have to be bought but allow you to get your arousal down in an emergency?

I couldn't find anything, but just thought I'd try asking before giving up :)

In game solutions to reduce arousal?  Or exposure? (you say exposure but sounds like you mean arousal).  If its exposure, wear clothes or don't be an exhibitionist.  :P

As far as arousal, I can't think of any mods that do that either.  It also gives me a couple of ideas...especially for the Warm Bodies mod for Frostfall...i.e. its hard to get hot when you're freezing cold, but you can still fuck someone to get warm.

And yes, potions should be available to do this too...  The Warm Bodies effect would be a bit harder to do than the potions, but both should be doable (really, nobody has done this yet?)

With Arousal if you hold N (the default setting) for a few seconds your character will masturbate, after which their arousal will be at zero.

I have to admit I still don't entirely understand what exactly the different variables that make up your arousal score actually mean :blush:

I think what the OP means is mods to decrease the arousal increase/day.

This is affected by the "Time Rate" variable. When the PC is frequently involved in SL animations (e.g. enslaved with SD+), the Time Rate variable increases and arousal will increase faster. On the opposite end, if the PC abstains the Time Rate variable will decrease and arousal increases more slowly each day.

As for the OP's question, I'm not sure if there's a mod to control that, but SL Arousal's MCM menu allows you to modify it through the Puppet Master submenu. Obviously not so immersive though.

The Eager NPCs mod http://www.loverslab.com/files/file/2182-sexlab-eager-npcs/ beyond being just a really cool mod does include lots of arousal manipulation tools for the player and NPCs that don't involve just manually changing them in arousal MCM menu.

One of the items in that mod are potions that cure sexual addiction; basically they return the player's timescale exposure back to defaults when used.  That value is the cause of arousal buildup outside of just hanging around a bunch of naked people, so I go buy one whenever I find that my character is getting out of control (and triggering way too many traps way too often from Cursed Loot).

Would recommend trying the mod out for all the other stuff in it anyway, especially the charm dialogue options.

Wow, I've never realized it worked like this, I though it was the opposite! Like, you have sex often = you're not desperate for it = arousal increases slower, and vice versa. Can I change it so it works like this somewhere?

Edit: That was easier to do than expected in CK.

These are the equations used for SLA arousal:

Arousal = DaysSinceLastOrgasm * TimeRate + Exposure

TimeRate = TimeRateAfterLastOrgasm * 1.5 ^ ( -DaysSinceLastOrgasm / TimeRateHalfLife )

Exposure = ExposureAfterLastUpdate * 1.5 ^ ( -DaysSinceLastExposureUpdate / TimeRateHalfLife )

Don't worry, I'll break it down for ya tongue.png

Both the TimeRate and the Exposure curves are half life curves. That means that every X days, the value will be half what it was before (the same way that radioactive materials decay, and the same way that soap bubbles pop). How much X exactly is depends on your TimeRateHalfLife value, which can be set in the SLA MCM menu where it is called "Decay Rate". The default value is 2, which means every 3.42 days the value will be halved. Increasing TimeRateHalfLife means the X increases. At TimeRateHalfLife=4 it would take 6.84 days (say a week) for the values to halve once.

Because it is very script heavy to constantly update these values for all NPCs, instead the value is stored together with a timestamp. The next time the value is needed (for example to increase exposure when seeing nudity, or to increase timerate when having an orgasm), it is calculated based on the previous value and timestamp, increased, and then stored again together with a fresh timestamp.

In practice what you need to know is that both exposure and timerate will decrease by about 20% a day at default settings. Furthermore Exposure increases by small numbers when seeing nudity or being exhibitionist, by bigger numbers when seeing sex. It is reduced by a large number (under normal circumstances typically all the way to 0) when having an orgasm. TimeRate on the other hand increases by 5 when having an orgasm (using the default "Time Rate Change" setting) and only decays because of the half life effect.

When left on their own and not increased in any way, after 2 weeks less than 1/16th of the original value will be left, so even an exposure or timerate of 100 will have decayed to only 6 in that time.

In the arousal formula, TimeRate is multiplied by the number of days since the last orgasm. The effect of this is that shortly after an orgasm, DaysSinceLastOrgasm will be much smaller than 1, so the "DaysSinceLastOrgasm * TimeRate" part will be near 0. After 1 day however, DaysSinceLastOrgasm will be 1 so the value of that part of the formula will have increased sharply, especially if your timerate is high. This goes on for a while as the days pass, but after about 5 days (or approximately 2.5 times the TimeRateHalfLife) it will reach a peak, and from that moment on the half life effect will decrease the TimeRate value faster than the DaysSinceLastOrgasm increases, so the value of that part of the formula decreases again.

A few pictures to visualize things:

Tom, Dick & Harry all have 50 exposure on day 1. Poor Tom doesn't get any new exposure after that. Dick gets a steady dose of 4 exposure a day. Harry gets 7 exposure every odd day, but none on the even days:

And here's one explaining the effect of different TimeRateHalfLife values that I made for the SLA thread once. It shows the "DaysSinceLastOrgasm * TimeRate" value in the formula as it changes over time, starting with a TimeRate of 1 (so if your TimeRate is 10, simply multiply the values on the Y-axis by 10)

Some more details:

  • The amount of exposure you receive is multiplied by the ExposureRate of the actor. So someone with an ExposureRate of 3 will have their exposure go up faster when seeing nudity or being exhibitionist than someone with an ExposureRate of 2.
  • Given the default values: DaysSinceLastOrgasm = 0 and TimeRate = 10 which are the initial value every NPC gets, TimeRateHalfLife = 2 (Decay Rate in MCM menu), and SexOverUseEffect = 5 (Time Rate Change in the MCM menu), you can calculate that all NPCs in Skyrim are expected to have sex 2 times a week dodgy.gif
  • When you first see an NPC their values are initialized with a randomized value for Exposure and 10 for TimeRate, so they'll often have an arousal in the 20-50 range. When you don't see NPCs for a long time, say 30 days, their Exposure and TimeRate will have decayed to 0 because of the half life effect, which is why all such NPCs have an arousal of 0 - even the high DaysSinceLastOrgasm can't make something out of nothing. To keep the values from decaying, frequent sexual activity or exposure is needed.
  • To decrease Exposure is easy, just have sex and after that don't watch sex or nudity. To decrease TimeRate is normally harder since it only decays over time and increases when having sex, so effectively the only way is to be abstinent and wait. As someone mentioned my mod SLEN has a potion to reset the timerate back to the default 10 (at a cost). It also has several spells that tap into the timerate value and decrease your timerate as you cast the spells to increase the exposure of others. These can be used quite effectively if you have a nice magicka pool.

Thanks for the really detailed breakdown of how the formula works. I'll admit, I've been using that mod for a good long while now and never fully understood its calculation until this post.

It does seem a bit counter-intuitive though. You'd think arousal would go up the longer you've gone without sexual activity, not down.

In practice it often will go up, through exposure. The examples of Dick & Harry are very light, normally exposure is much more frequent, so instead of getting 4 a day, you get 4 exposure 36 times a day from the naked follower you are taking along, or 10-20 from watching a sex scene. That process is usually much faster than the decay. But of course when an NPC is not around you, they don't see all that stuff, which is why they fade out over time. If the curve went upwards, then all NPCs would probably end up having an arousal of 100 instead of 0.

The idea of the timerate curve and value is that the more often you have sex, the more often you will need to have sex in order to keep your arousal down. The classical way to get rid of such an addiction when it runs rampant is abstinence. Whether it works like that in RL... let's just say you shouldn't take any sexual advice from computer games ;)

It does make some sense though, don't forget that the timerate curves in the image show what happens if you go cold turkey all at once. In a normal situation, you would try to get some when it is around its peak. And then again with the next peak, and the next - and each next peak would come a little sooner. So you as PC are mostly 'living' on the first upward part of the curve, and so are your frequent sex partners. It is only the NPCs that go cold turkey that fade to 0.

True, but then you run into the problem of having a mod that only does its thing when NPCs reach a certain arousal level, and you find most of the NPCs you run into having a 0 arousal.

Watch the next version of SLEN, to be released soon (this weekend if I find the time to upload it). It will have a solution for that ;)

You've got me interested; I'll admit, I've never used your mod before. I'm gonna try it out though, after give it a look. Does it have any sort of approach options? Or is it on the PC to initiate activities and whatnot?

SLEN is very good, its one of the mods I always have installed.

It also, in respect of the OP's question and if I remember correctly, has Cure Sex Addiction potions which can be obtained from the priestesses of Dibella in Markarth. These drop the  time rate so you can go from being aroused again instantly after sex to having the "normal" lower time rate. :)

Even after reading the breakdown...I guess I still don't get it.

I hung around my player house (Whiterun Manor) for quite a while and just as I decided to go adventuring my arousal suddenly spiked to 100.

I left the house and moved over to the outdoor spring, thinking a little fun time with my followers away from the mannequins would make me ready to travel.

Even after three orgies my arousal has barely dropped under 75 while the NPCs are all 0.

 Its all very confusing, having so many randy actors has been breaking some quests as the Quest NPC's get wrapped up in the Sexlab Aroused horny pool and engage in multiple sex acts that the Quest NPC"s don't go back to their Quest routine, eg. Your suppose to talk to said NPC but He's/She's all broken due to multiple horny orgies that lost there placement/chat scripts and stuff.

  Wish there was a switch just to shut the whole mod down when needed.

Little bit of a necro.

OH!! That EUREKA!!! moment.
So what you're saying is that because I have a regular lover AND because I'm always hanging out with them, (she's a Follower) THAT'S why my SLArousal rate is so high . . . As is hers.
I can rarely talk to her these days without her wanting the D!

Thanks man x
