Favorite Elder Scrolls game?

I don't really know if this is the right place for this thread but I didn't really want to just put it in the oblivion or skyrim forums. But yeah basically what is your favorite elder scrolls game?

Mine has to be Morrowind, I played that game as a kid so it'll always hold a strong place in my heart... I remember being  just astounded by the level of detail and freedom that game had, even though I had no real idea what I was doing. It was my favourite game growing up for its ability to really just let me immerse myself into a totally alien world.

In my opinion, out of all the Elder Scrolls games Morrowind was the one that i think had the richest level of depth in terms of its world building, since nearly everything about it was unique rather than the generic fantasy land that I saw initially in Oblivion and even Skyrim, as beautiful as the world looks doesn't have the same level of originality as Morrowind's did, each faction had its own unique architecture and environment. I love hearing that noise the Silt Strider would make whenever I entered into Seyda Neen when starting a name game.

Thinking back on it now actually, its funny how I went from some kid being harassed by cliff racers to years later doing my level best to turn Skyrim and Oblivion into the most perverted and sex filled world that I possibly can lol

oblivion>morrowind>skyrim.

I have more then 1000 hours so far logged into skyrim. But for oblivion i have about double that. I played SOOOOO much oblivion.

Nowadays I think Oblivion is the best. Morrowind had great vision but the gameplay was horribly clunky at times. Skyrim is the prettiest but also the most shallow, both gameplay- and story-wise. Oblivion has made critical improvements to the game's systems without removing all depth like Skyrim did, has some of the most memorable quests in all modern TES titles, and is still pretty enough to play without bad graphics taking you out of the experience.

That said, I've played Skyrim much more than either Morrowind or Oblivion, mostly thanks to mods (also because I'm a sucker for all things Norse).

Morrowind style for world building

Oblivion for quest and story

Skyrim for overall gameplay

Visual is not even a fair fight...

World: Morrowind > Skyrim > Oblivion

Quest/Story: Oblivion > Morrowind > Skyrim

Gameplay: Skyrim > Morrowind >(marginally) Oblivion

Morrowind>heavily modded Oblivion>heavily modded to hell Skyrim

Morrowind has more freedom and less hand holding.  And you actually have something to spend your money on if you're into spellmaking and enchanting. I didn't finish the MQ in Skyrim even once. Something something end of the world something something dragon and evil elves something something me big nord kill giant with my axe.

I wish I could work for the Thalmor.

My favorite one is Oblivion.

I'd have to lean more towards Morrowind in many aspects, probably because it was my first Elder Scrolls game in full, immersive 3D. And use of the Construction Set was my first full-modding experience (besides modding Doom levels).

Now, I can't wait for Skywind to be released....sigh....waiting.....waiting.....

Tough one...Morrowind has really had an impact on me, it was the first openworld-rpg I played, and I played it for hours, and got me introduced into Tamriel-Lore etc. But it didn't age so well, I tried to play it again 2 years ago or so...

So I'll make the unpopular choice and say: Skyrim. I love how they got back into lore of the province's species (Nords), I like it how it has a darker tone like morrowind again, I like their attempt of telling a story, which they steadily improve but yeah...its still not their strong side...the dungeons are probably the most unique so far and often have something memorable in it (enemy, loot, quests etc)

Oblivion surely is the weakest of them all. I played it long, like the others, but it never grew on me. It felt and still feels too sterile, to build-by-the-book, to colorfull. The story had the potential to be epic, but left me cold in the end. The dungeons are horribly designed and repetitive/serve no purpose at all...I don't know, even ESO did a better job at catching the Elder Scrolls spirit than Oblivion did...I wish they'd make a remake of Oblivion, with a better designed world and better written story...

I'll say Morrowind>Skyrim>Oblivion (Could never get the others to run so I can't judge them.)

It's the setting that sells Morrowind to me. Yes, it hasn't aged well but I still return to it for its world. It's incredibly original unlike the absolute disappointment that was Oblivion. Some mechanics could have been handled better (I'm looking at you spears) but in overall the experience never fell short for me.

Skiyrim... Skyrim is a nice game, if a little too action for my tastes. I prefer RPGs and Grand strategy normally and wouldn't have played it if it wasn't for the Elder Scrolls tag. Still it has grown on me and I enjoy the hour spend walking through the wilderness although I must admit I wouldn't have returned to it if it weren't for Lovers Lab.

Oblivion. The game I discovered Lovers Lab for mostly to get my moneys worth out of it. While the concept of jumping into daedra gates to prevent the Prince of Oblivion to overtake Tamriel sounds incredibly epic it's execution fell short. Won't complain about the gameplay mechanics I actually liked most of them even when I was sorry to see some things removed instead of improved but I could never get over the generic and bland world in which they were presented.

Morrowind and Daggerfall. Oblivion was a huge disappointment because I expected so much from it. I since learned my lesson and expected nothing from Skyrim, thus I haven't been disappointed. It's a shallow game, so much so that I don't consider it as a game in itself but as a modding platform only. And even at that, it sucks, but I deal with it.

No opinion about Arena, I've never played it.

First im PC only so console i don't care about.

First real open world i played back then i was HOOKED for months so Morrowind by far my most favorite Elder Scroll game(PC always ;) ).

Never liked Oblivion(facepalm)

Already someone pointed this out Skyrim from beginning a screenshot game thats all it only surpass all elderscolls for me because of mods and making screenshots.

Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind stays on top for me as one of my best RPG experience back in 2002 without mods yet.

Oblivion 6/10

Skyrim 8/10(only because of mods

Morrowind 9/10 with mods 10/10.

P.S

Before i tried playing Daggerfall but to buggy and my PC sucked had way less knowledge back then about PC and software with windows 98 it was complete disaster so never real could play it.

Puts on Morrovision Glasses...

I put more enjoyable Hours into an unmodded Morrowind than Oblivion and Skyrim. Morrowind is a Fantasy Game, Skyrim and Oblivion are Medieval Simulators. I have to force Myself to start playing Morrowind nowadays due to being spoiled by more Modern Graphics and the annoying whiff, whiff, whiff, whack Combat. Being left as immobile Cliffracer bait from fighting a Scrib Larva is annoying, but I still have trouble putting the Game down once I get into playing it.

The Morrowind Graphics Extender can make the game look pretty good despite its age, if you haven't used it already. The only way to play morrowind now for me is modded but that's the same for all Bethesda games

True that, new game old game doesn't matter, all needs mods...
