Katsoro Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 So, I have always had trouble installing Modular Beautiful People, even this last time half the races are bald ugly as hell and the choclet elves are missing there skin. So the question Is. Is there a reason all the individual Modular Beautiful People mods can't be combined into one esm and one esp with one download?
fejeena Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Why do you want to install Modular Beautiful People if you say it is ugly as hell ? I never download, installed or used it. I don't like it . But if you want it ....have you tried the all-in-one Version ? http://www.loverslab.com/topic/2590-mbp-allin1-omod-v21beta/
gregathit Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 So the question Is. Is there a reason all the individual Modular Beautiful People mods can't be combined into one esm and one esp with one download? Because it would take someone 6 months to combine all of the esp files and fix all the errors that combination would create. This mod, like others, was based on an original mod that folks started adding to...and others added to....and still others added to....and so on.
Katsoro Posted September 3, 2015 Author Posted September 3, 2015 I used the all-in-one Version but apparently I did not do it right and yes half the races are ugly but I like the loop ear elves II and chocolate elves so I have to get all stuff that comes with them. @gregathit in short no one wants to try sorting all the Frankensteined parts into one coherent entity?
Guest Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 It takes some work to get it working correctly and tracking down all the missing files, then bash patching it to clean it all up. I like it because it makes Bravil and Crowning look way better. Haven't gone back to Oblivion in a while, but since it is the most difficult of mods to get working, I always start with it first. Then the LAP and corresponding mods, lastly the texture mods. Environmental mods always last since they are by far the simplest to get working and you usually don't have to "start from scratch" if something goes wrong after checking out all the other mods. The same can be said of how I mod Skyrim. Body/facial mods first then tweaks then SL mods then environmental. Oblivion seems to take alternative races better than Skyrim, as weird as that is. :/ I believe I downloaded several variations on MBP since some had assets others missed and Chocolate Elves I downloaded the actual mod with Titans and one other: corean? Bashed those together with MBP. Good luck! Let us know the proper procedure since I just go by trial an error until it "works", and always forget what I did to "get it working". Plus, it has been quite some time for me. Am I the only one that seems to like fixing or getting mods to run correctly moreso than actually playing the mods?
Katsoro Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 Lol at lest I'm not the only one spending days moding/trouble shotting and minutes actually playing.
varenne Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 I feel gregathit's estimate is about right; 6 months. It is not a matter of just merging it all into one. Biggest problem is sorting all the custom resources into a custom folder structure vs. vanilla, which is where some of the fubarring occurs due to (partly WB) and mostly Oblivion and how it is coded to deal with vanilla resources in vanilla folders ONLY. Or having NIFs that call for a texture in one location, while the ESP has it in an entirely different location. Only reason I don't use the OMOD is I built mine over a period of 1.5 - 2 years as stuff was released, so now I just edit the Bashed Patch if something is amiss. And I find it works out to about 80% modding & fixing / 20% playing. And there is this post and thread, which has helped others get it working in the past: Install Beautiful People - A Guide To Setting Up Beautiful People & Modular BP
myuhinny Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 With MBP it is best to install it then go get the different races that are in it from the nexus and overwrite them with the ones you downloaded as the ones in the MBP are older then the ones on the nexus. To update the elves get the Diablo Elf 6 in 1 omod from the nexus there is also a update to that one on there as well. Some races like the triton race are not in the MPB and need to be downloaded.
gregathit Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Pretty much all of the lovers mods now have a no-MBP version or will shortly. Fejeena, myself and others have been collaborating our efforts to pull this off. Fejeena has done most of the work. This is so that folks can use OCR2 or XeoSP or whatever other vanilla replacer that they want. MBP is just such a pain and has far to many parts.
varenne Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 One more note, take it as you will, but I have come to strongly dislike .omod files. They will overwrite any existing resources, and if you then disable them you're at a loss as to what they actually installed. I unpack all .omod files and install them manually, or create an Installer package via WB. Same for custom BSA files too; unpack, optimize, install manually. And I agree with myuhinny. The Diablo Elf 6 in 1 Big Update by SWBM is much better than prior versions.
