If you are having issues installing any of my mods, please take a moment to go through [DOA5LR] A Few Modding Tools | Undertow for a collection of tools put together by @NiteGuardian

Here are some of my earlier mods that have yet been made public here.

Most of my mods are crude and are proof of concept creations that are basically meant as beta tests for my tools. As such, they lack any polish any modder with self respect would consider "publishable" and some of them just plain suck, so use at your own risk. I also have very poor skills with 3d modeling software as I had not touched it prior to starting DOA5 modding, so you have been warned. :)

It contains:
Curiosity pack (06/10/15*) - this is one of the earliest test mods I did when I managed to inject correct normal vectors back into TMC. This is for Kasumi with a heart shaped icon from Harry.
MilkPlus angelic/demonic (06/23/15*) - Angelic is the shaved version and demonic is the bushy version. I think they both occupy slot 35, so they can't co-exist. This pack contains 15 ladies with custom made icon. I think the name is self explanatory :)
RealPhysicsSeries beta (07/07/15*) - Screenshots of this can be found in screenshots thread. This pack contains outfit for Kasumi, Ayane, Leifang, Hitomi & Pai.
XmasInJuly (07/15/15*) - screenshots can be found in screenshots thread. There are some issues with animation on Hitomi which might bother some people. I forgot how many this one includes, but look for xmas clothing icons. Updated version 3.2 can be found here http://www.loverslab.com/topic/50997-doa5lr-timmys-private-stash-tips-tools-updated-062916-converter-v051-transformer-v029/?p=1600989

*Added Original Creation Date to all of the above packs as an indication of how "complete" (or incomplete) they are. The earlier the date, the "rougher" the pack is :) All of the above mods were created when no tools were available to allow direct editing of meshes. They were all created with an early version of my Advanced Converter as listed in the section above and represent significant investment as I had spent countless hours on research, coding, debugging and testing. I hope you will enjoy these packs as much as I have enjoyed creating them.

Mod Updates
08/13/15: Added Nyotengu back to Xmas In July pack
08/14/15: Modernized the weight assignment in the Xmas In July pack for the following characters

  • Kokoro - now her outfit should move in a more synchronous manner with her chest.
  • Hitomi - This is a hard one to fix, but I think I made some decent improvements. There are still some issues with animation when her arms are close to her body since there's no suitable weight to assign to the dangling piece under her armpit, but it's not too noticeable in action
  • Marie - Fixed the lifted shirt now the movement is more natural and is synchronous with her chest. No more weird lines across her chest that were visible in the old version.

08/30/15: Added a costume for Ayane here http://www.loverslab.com/topic/50997-doa5lr-timmys-private-stash-updated-083015/?p=1301594(updated - fixed issues caused by stray vertices)

Feast your eyes on the mod that defies all laws of physics! (yes, even by DOA standard)

Who needs soft engine when we can get boobs that don't stop bouncing even when she's standing still.
Thanks to SaafRats for this pair of wonderfully sculpted breasts :)

I will probably expand the collection to include some of my more recent work once I get time to clean them up, and if there's any demand for those. I haven't really spent much time at all on DOA5 since a few weeks ago and only recently I picked up where I left off on the development of my tools to finish them, so at least my project is now complete instead of being left in an unfinished state.

I dug up some screenshots from the screenshot thread

Real Physics Series - It never made any sense to me how girls could be fighting in this kind of outfits yet miraculously avoid wardrobe malfunction, so i took it in my own hands to correct the issue.

Xmas In July - girls found a creative way to maximize the jingling of their bells :) (they don't make any sound, though, I suspect these bells are cheap plastic knockoffs.) I remember when I was working on this pack, Jingle Bell Rock was stuck in my head.

I would appreciate it if these mods were not uploaded/repacked elsewhere.

A bit of background on how and why these mods were conceived:

I started learning how to mod DOA back in May inspired by Harry and his tutorial on how to edit vertex. I became very interested in this type of byte level modding which I had not thought of before, and it completely blew my mind. I decided to get my hands dirty and tried to create some of the most basic tools that would allow me to inject vertices from 360 TMC back into PC TMC with a small degree of success.

I then took a trip for about a month. After I came back in early June, I decided to get back in the game and started making some mods to test my stuff. It quickly became obvious that I needed a way to inject normal vectors back into PC TMC if I want to be able to freely modify meshes.

The milk plus packs are the result of this research. Modifying breast sizes of ladies that are already quite large (pretty much every girl except Marie) without modifying normal vectors produces no noticeable flaw, however, with Marie, I couldn't get away with not touching the normal vectors, so I decided to spend time on figuring out how that can be done, and I think the result is quite satisfying. This bit of work also enabled Saaf and I to bring topless Honoka to you guys :) when mesh editing was relatively difficult.

After learning how to do vertex positions and normal vectors, I have decided to take it one step further (with the help of the now popular TMC Polygon Tool suite) to go backwards from PC TMC -> OBJ instead of having to rely on finding 360 TMC and converting it to PC TMC. My next series of tests would create "Real Physics Series" pack which was yet another proof of concept creation that demonstrates the ability to edit meshes that have been combined using external tools.

My next challenge was to learn how to handle blend weight and index, so I could attach objects anywhere I want. After a lot of head scratching and loss of sleep, I created several piercing mods and the "Xmas In July" pack that deal with modifying weights/bone stuff on a massive scale. It's a shame that the bells don't make any sound.

For the more technically inclined

There were several issues I ran into when attempting to repair normal vectors when it comes to seam smoothing. The original script by Mariocart64 (he basically started the whole thing) for 360 TMC doesn't import or export normal vectors, so I had to come up with a way to fix it.

Taking hint from Harry, I thought about averaging the normals across seams which resulted in something like this:
post-781013-0-87434000-1439344568_thumb.jpg
As you can see above, the butt crack area is now way over-smoothed.

To deal with this problem, I had to take into account the angle between two faces that have overlapping vertices to determine whether or not the normals should be averaged. Triangles on a smooth surface would have almost zero angle of intersection and it is the case where normals should be averaged. In areas such as butt cracks, angle would be relatively large and the normals should be left alone. This is very similar to computer graphics concept that is used to determine how well lit a triangle should be when drawing. Adjusting the angle to less than 53 degrees would yield something like this:
post-781013-0-46021400-1439344568_thumb.jpg

Now the butt crack looks normal and the little triangle on the top of butt crack looks smooth and pleasing (to me) too!

Changing the angle to less than 18 degrees would create sharper seams like this:
post-781013-0-68461200-1439344568_thumb.jpg

Now there's a new problem, wanting smoother butt cracks would cause anomalies in finger nail normals:
post-781013-0-54953900-1439340354_thumb.jpg

After adjusting the number and losing the smooth butt cracks, the finger nails look normal again:
post-781013-0-81656600-1439340354_thumb.jpg

I have recently picked up where I left off a few weeks ago in my tool development and added the ability to do UV as well for the sake of completion. Tool making has always been what kept me going. One interesting fact I discovered during the implementation of UV import/export is that TMC format (or game development in general I imagine) uses short 16 bit float to represent UV. Normally a float is 32 bit which takes up quite a bit more space and computation power. 16 bit float seems to be graphics cards' comfort zone. There are many deviations from the academic application of computer graphics in gaming application where speed is at utmost importance, and I have learned many cool tricks along the way.

I particularly enjoyed the challenge in creating mods with self made tools (and having SaafRats beta test them for me.. :) ) It was much more satisfying to me than mod making itself, and I was happy that I could apply what I learned in school to some actual use.

I will consider releasing my converter (as pictured in some of the shots above) if there is demand for it. It seems to fill a niche since no tools currently available that I know of can inject the correct normal vectors.

For performance enhancement, I employed multi-threading since the seam smoothing operation requires the process to compare every vertex with every other vertex which results in a tremendous amount of work. A simple model with 10,000 vertices would require 100,000,000 cycles of computation (10k ^2). For complex models such as Marie Cos 001 with over 35k vertices just on her costume alone would take over 200 seconds in a single threaded operation. The process time is now cut down to less than 20 seconds with multi-threading.

Thank you for sharing your work Timmyc, this is absolutely awesome.

All these pack is a very great job.

I really like the Real Physic Series and XmasInJuly, this is like if we have a real physic, fighting with our chars and "oups" costumes moved too. I am not english so I hope you will understand what I mean.

The Curiosity Pack have a perfect name for this pack haha, I never though it was what I saw when I tested it :)

About MilkPlus Pack, well done ! I enjoy this one too and also the -P picture haha.

Thank you for sharing and thank you to the community for make it possible !

Haha it's great to see your work coming out of the closet buddy, I'm thinking there will be a few guys here that'll want those tools alright seeing as they've made mods possible that otherwise just can't be done! This is a great share and a happy day for the doa community here for sure. Thanks as always for the hours of hard work and frustration these mods and tools represent, your expertise is a rare gem that we've all benefitted from already with the honoka mods you and SaafRats made, and its great to see some of the other fruits of that labour will live on now in the world at large. Thanks too for the honourable mention, though I've done nothing to make this possible, and you were always going to be more than welcome to my support as would any modder who was taking on such difficult challenges to benefit us all, (though I'm happy and honoured to call you my friend too). Modders of all kinds are internet heroes, modders like you who can solve problems at the mathematical ground level are gold dust buddy.

Weird, I know that 'real physics' definitely works alongside the official dlc... You've installed dlc mods before, right? only suggestioni can make is strip out your mods and add them back in one at a time, see if you can isolate any problems, though I'd expect you to ctd if there was a clash.

Thanks for sharing, Timmy! Like you, I am just getting into Blender, and most of what I know of DOA modding came from these forums.

Would you know how to associate vertices with different bones in Blender? I am working on the mod below and would like to associate the bib with the hip or thigh bone to reduce collision artifacts. For now, I've simply changed the weights, but the effect is not as clean as it could be.

Now the butt crack looks normal and the little triangle on the top of butt crack looks smooth and pleasing (to me) too!

Changing the angle to less than 18 degrees would create sharper seams like this:

Now there's a new problem, wanting smoother butt cracks would cause anomalies in finger nail normals:

After adjusting the number and losing the smooth butt cracks, the finger nails look normal again:

I have recently picked up where I left off a few weeks ago in my tool development and added the ability to do UV as well for the sake of completion.   Tool making has always been what kept me going.

Excellent work!!

Really glad you decided to share :)  Your mods are amongst the very best - it's awesome that they're out there.

The new tools might have made it so that everyone can create mods now, but very few people will ever be able to create work of such an impeccable standard.

Really looking forward to seeing what else you create :)

I haven't used any of the blender scripts, so I am not sure what capabilities they provide, but if you are changing mesh in a dynamic fashion such that a piece of clothing is hanging some where close to limbs and/or other moving parts, you will probably want to assign weight per vertex using some kind of a nearest vertex search and just copy weight over to your modified mesh.

Thanks to a friend who notified me that Nytoengu isn't in the xmas pack.   I have updated the xmas in July pack to include Nyotengu who was actually in a separate DLC I have.  Now she's part of the xmas collection as shown in the screenshot.  Unfortunately now the song Jingle Bell Rock is stuck in my head again :(

I hope you guys are enjoying these mods as much as I have enjoyed creating them.
