Jack of All Trades Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I really feel like playing a turn-based 2D RPG that has a really good story with a romance, Good Graphics and character sprites, and good progression. Also it being free would be nice  Any ideas? I've already tried most of the Final Fantasy Games (IV for the PSP is kinda what i'm looking for but unfortunately my PSP's battery won't hold a charge, my PSP is just falling apart, and I don't feel like spending over 140 dollars just to get a new PSP and Final Fantasy IV, so I can't experience it T-T), and Chrono Trigger.
Jeffrey Lane Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 if thats what ya wanna play, why not use an emulator? Â i have both games one them, and they run pretty well.
Jack of All Trades Posted July 23, 2015 Author Posted July 23, 2015 if thats what ya wanna play, why not use an emulator?  i have both games one them, and they run pretty well.  I have tried to resort to that but the game crashes every few minutes, I've already tried getting help over at the PPSSPP forums and they pretty much said buy the game and rip it or F off, and I'm currently waiting for a response over at the Emuparadise forums   Baldur`s gate 2?  I've never played Baldur's Gate 2, I might give that a try once I get a little cash in my pocket. Also I love your Profile Pic, Playing as a werewolf in Daggerfall was fun
afa Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Shadow Hearts 1 and 2 Persona 3 and/or Persona 4 Oh wait, 2d...errr Valkyrie Profile 2 is sort of 2d, but it isn't really turn base...fuck this is actually kind of hard. FF6???

FF6??? Â Already Played Final Fantasy VI, Amazing game and loved it. I guess my requirements have really narrowed my options
Kain82 Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Neverwinter Nights? Planescape Torment? Dragon Age: Origins Dragon Age: Inquisition  The first two have a little romance in them. The last two have a lot of romance. Inquisition is hack and slash though. Origins is turn based. 1

afa Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 2d and romance is kind of hard. With a few notable exception games really didn't get good with story especially with romance in the 2d era. Could be completely off, but To the Moon? Not much of a "game" in the traditional sense, and romance might not be a huge focus here. It is 2d
Jack of All Trades Posted July 23, 2015 Author Posted July 23, 2015 lol I already played To the Moon as well XD  Also Romance isn't a must, just something that would be nice   EDIT: I decided to mess around with PPSSPP's settings and played for an hour without any crashes, so that's nice. Hopefully it stays that way XD  Anyways thanks guys I really appreciate your advice, I'll definitely check out Baldur's Gate 2 When I get a chance as well. Also either when I can afford to get a 3ds or when Citra Get's finished in the next couple of centuries (lol) I'll try out  Bravely Default. I heard that was a good RPG.Â

ds64 Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 my PSP's battery won't hold a charge, my PSP is just falling apart, and I don't feel like spending over 140 dollars just to get a new PSPÂ I know that feel dude... Time to say goodbye to my psp-1000... Â Btw if you really like 2D RPG, try to look for NIS America/ Nippon Ichi games. The last good RPG in PS2 is Odin Sphere, even though it's in ps2, it's worth a try.

Yeah If I ever decide to get a New Hand held system I really don't know what to do, There are a lot of amazing games on the PSP but it doesn't have as much support as the Vita does, Hell I couldn't use the internet when my PSP was still working because my Internet used an unsupported security type or something like that.  Then there's the 3ds, which has Pokemon Alpha Sapphire, Zelda OOT 3D, Zelda MM 3D, and Bravely Default, which are games I really want to play (even though I've already played Pokemon Sapphire, OOT, and MM to death)  In the end, I don't really know. My Grandmother is in the hospital and I really don't have that much time to think that far ahead in the future right now.
WideWalson Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 im surprised nobody has mentioned about the witcher series here

swmas Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Earthbound, Lufia 1 & 2. If you like FFIV you'll like em.

ds64 Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Earthbound dude... that was old... my first RPG ever... Â oh and one ps1 classic, legend of mana.
Jack of All Trades Posted July 25, 2015 Author Posted July 25, 2015 lol nice cat pics guys XD Â I've already played earthbound and secret of mana and earthbound (wasn't a huge fan of earthbound, dunno why just never could get into it), lol I'm sorry I should have made more clear of what games I've already played XD
...0... Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Don't know on what platform these days it's released but one greatest Turnbased Rpg's released on Sega Dreamcast was Skies of Arcadia rating 10/10.
Jack of All Trades Posted July 25, 2015 Author Posted July 25, 2015 Â If you have an Android or iPhone with decent enough specs, you can run 2D RPG's such as Chrono trigger on one of those devices instead. Â ePSXe is one of the most stable PS1 emulators out there for PC and mobile. Â I also use Snes9x EX+: Â a Super Nintendo emulator for Android. Â Â I have an Android, but playing emulators without buttons is just weird and I can't get used to it, I much prefer a keyboard or a gamepad. Killing Joke Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Did you try the Ogre Battle series? I guess you've already played FF Tactics?
Jack of All Trades Posted July 26, 2015 Author Posted July 26, 2015   If you have an Android or iPhone with decent enough specs, you can run 2D RPG's such as Chrono trigger on one of those devices instead. ePSXe is one of the most stable PS1 emulators out there for PC and mobile. I also use Snes9x EX+: a Super Nintendo emulator for Android.I have an Android, but playing emulators without buttons is just weird and I can't get used to it, I much prefer a keyboard or a gamepad. There are actual controllers available for Android that you can try using. The MOGA brand is probably the most popular. I heard it may be possible to use a Wiimote or Sixaxis controller on an Android device as well. But of course, do your research with your device first to make sure.  I did play Pokemon with a wii remote on my android one time, but it was a pain because every time I wanted to look something up about something, say a pokemon's learnset, I would have to change the keyboard to the default keyboard (Because the wii remote app made it switch to a special keyboard or something like that, I don't remember) and then I would have to active the wii remote again. So what did I do instead? I looked things up on my computer, but what's the point of that then? It kind of defeats the purpose of using an android if I'm still using the computer for research.  Did you try the Ogre Battle series? I guess you've already played FF Tactics?  Actually I have played the Ogre Battle Series, the same goes for Final Fantasy Tactics. I should give both of them a try when I finish Final Fantasy IV (Which honestly I kind of feel bad because I started playing Final Fantasy IV only a couple of days ago and i'm already almost at the final boss fight, I wish it was a tiny bit longer XD)
Chaos63 Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Disgaea could count as 2d...probably. Good series, either way. It has pretty much everything you're looking for.
