sci fi samurai Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Hello! I just started up NV and am ready to mod the crap out of it. However, first things first. I was thinking of going with the Fallout Mod Manager over at Nexus, but I wanted to get some second opinions. Are there better, more efficient mod managers out there, or should I just stick to the FOMM? Thanks, any input is appreciated.
7KeysCurtain Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 We just had a similar thread to this by the way. http://www.loverslab.com/topic/47490-people-who-mod-falloutnv-what-do-you-use-to-organize-your-mods/?do=findComment&comment=1190510 To answer you, for Fallout NV I use Prideslayer's FOMM and would recommend it over the the regular FOMM and certainally over NMM.
bjornk Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Mod Organizer, definitely. It's the most advanced mod manager out there for all Bethesda games.
LadyM Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Mod Organizer, definitely. It's the most advanced mod manager out there for all Bethesda games. I agree, Mod Organizer!
Varithina Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Mod Organizer, definitely. It's the most advanced mod manager out there for all Bethesda games. True, though it dose have quite a learning curve on it, and can be finiky as hell about how it installs other tools and utilities. I have it working for skyrim, but oblivion is being a cow to get it to work. And not tried on fallout 3/new vegas or morrowind.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 MO is a blessing. One of the best things I love about it is I don't have to scour through folders to find meshes and textures when I'm working on a mod because my data folder is mod free so when ever I am editing/making a mod I dump the files I use in the data folder and remove them when I'm done. The beauty about that is that GECK loads super quick because it's not dealing with your mods in the data folder. But that has to do with me opening GECK manually and not through MO. Also, what I'm doing by my method above, is that I'm repacking the mods from the MO/mods folder that includes the meta file so that I can archive them and have them all ready set up for MO for future installations. But I do admit this last FO3 installation I was very lazy and didn't merge plugins. I just wanted to get it up and running because I was bored of Skyrim.
Halstrom Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Prideslayers Fork of FOMM here on LL is what most modders use, MO is good but most of us don't use it so can't help you with support issues related to it.

I've packed up the sexoutNG core, data, and extension FOMM mods from the Overwrite folder and made them into their own archives. I'll need to update all that since the new sexoutNG update seems to be coming along nicely. I also go through and archive the mods from the MO folder. Especially my female skins, they're all packaged together so that folder is precious to me!
sci fi samurai Posted May 27, 2015 Author Posted May 27, 2015 Thanks for the feedback guys. I have Mod Organizer, which I used for Skyrim. I've not used it for anything else though, so I'll play with it so I don't end up accidentally loading all my Skyrim mods when I play NV.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 If you use MO for Fallout, just use a downgrade version. I don't play Skyrim, but I still have it installed and I kept the latest version of MO with Skyrim and use the downgrade version for Fallout. Keep in mind as mentioned above, if using Sexout mods, the authors cannot support you with MO and Sexout issues since they use Prideslayer's FOMM, which is the other mod manager highly suggested here. But I'm sure you can get some technical help since it looks like some around here use both MO and Sexout.
sci fi samurai Posted May 27, 2015 Author Posted May 27, 2015 I went back and found that I still had FO3 installed, and with it FOMM. I played with that and it's been much easier to adapt to NV than the MO was. The MO was loading up all of my Skyrim mods and clogging the interface. I'm thinking it might be best to keep these worlds seperate.
bjornk Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 You need a separate MO installation (or folder, in case you do not prefer using the installer version) for each game you have. You cannot manage FNV mods with the MO you use for Skyrim.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Yep. Must rename the folders so one doesn't overwrite the other and messes up your file structure.
shushi1234 Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 I haven't tried Mod Organizer but with all of these good reviews, I'll do so now ! Thanks everyone !
