Kamen Rider Kuuga
I mean, it's a Japanese heavy metal band... fronted by little Japanese J-POP idol girls. It's something that should not be, yet it is. And it's fucking amazing. Link to comment

Guest
Elitist metal heads think it's the worst thing to ever happen and it's hilarious. Been a fan of their guitarists for years. I'd suggest checking out Deluhi/Undivide/Far East Dizain and Takayoshi Ohmura! Link to comment
darkconsole
Elitist metal heads think it's the worst thing to ever happen and it's hilarious. Â the best way to start an amazing improv comedy show is to ask a metalhead if they heard of babymetal yet. Link to comment
Guest mayaktheunholy
As a long time metalhead, I don't see the problem. Â Thanks for pointing out something I wouldn't likely have discovered on my own. Link to comment
JMKAM
They're not the first band to do this style, they're just the ones who brought it into the mainstream somehow. It's not a gimmick, it's serious and it's cool. I dislike their weird wannabe-rap influenced songs, but their heavy stuff is pretty good. Link to comment
Wight Zombi
As someone who listens to different genres of music, including a bit of rap, metal and some anime soundtracks: I just can't get into this.I also find it crazy when BABYMETAL's fanbase lynches non-fans for difference of opinion, regardless of how polite it is. If that's not elitism, I don't know what it is. Just look at the YouTube comments as proof. Link to comment
Darkwisdom
As someone with a broad range of music tastes, japanese included - BABYMETAL is a fad.  It's an interesting fad though, as it blurs genres and boundaries in music and I can see this genre becoming a mainstream norm in japanese music. I'm not a fan but I can see why some are. And elitist music snobs are right in their own way too, it has been done before in most other countries, with the lolita thing wearing pretty thin now. Link to comment
Cynical Misanthrope
I see myself as an extreme metalhead and a long time musician, with a broad range of taste in music and experience. But I fucking hate Babymetal. Not the music. It's alright, but I can't stand the vocals. Â To me, it's no difference between the vocals and my 3 younger sisters, that having a fight about who stole who's make-up. Link to comment
Slath
^ Couldn't have said it better. I tried it out after reading the thread, and before the vocals, I actually thought I found a new bandI like. Link to comment
Veladarius
I listen to them quite a bit now. The vocals didn't thrill me at first but overall it is really good. Link to comment
Coopervane
Eh, it's a manufactured band, not dissimilar from stuff like One Direction and it's ilk, and i think that's at the heart of many peoples distaste for it. Especially amongst metal-heads, as there is a strong desire in the metal subculture to view metal music as one of the few remaining bastions of "real music", IE music that doesen't come off of some big studio assembly line (even if that's not always been the case, i mean, just look at "Nu-Metal" bands like Blink182). Â Â Personally, i'll give them credit for a funny concept, and unlike One Direction and it's ilk, i could actually listen to this. But i doubt it's much more than a phad, and it'll probably fade away when the novelty wears off. Link to comment

Nu-Metal is Disturbed (Sickness album), Staind (Dysfunction album), Limp Bizkit, Slipknot (IOWA album), that kinda stuff. Blink 182 is a pop-punk band. Link to comment

Loveryus
I'm not an elitist metal head, but I just hate Baby Metal for being so fake. So far metal has been pretty true with no shitty casting bands and Baby Metal is exactly that (the girls just being replaceable puppets of a producer). Link to comment

If the music is good who cares how the band was formed. The music is good, the band members are excellent and the girls are talented singers, what more do you want from music? Link to comment

NewIdol
I heard this band a couple of months ago while watching random videos and I really liked a lot, consider that the content of the letter is not good in itself ... but to be honest most of the modern music lacks content, but the content is not everything. The rhythm, the contrast between violent guitar and I like childish voice is also sticky so I think that I like but i prefer MEGITSUNE  Just in case they did not know they are about to start your tour 2015: May 9th | Circo Volador | Mexico City, Mexico May 12th | Danforth Music Hall | Toronto, Canada May 14th | House of Blues | Chicago, USA May 16th | Rock of the Range | Columbus, USA May 29th | ROCKAVARIA | Munich, Germany May 30th | DER RING - Grüne Hölle Rock | Nürburg, Germany June 1st | La Laiterie | Strasbourg, France June 3rd | X-TRA | Zurich, Switzerland June 5th | Estragon Club | Bologna, Italy June 6th | ROCK IN VIENNA | Vienna, Austria June 21st | Makuhari Messe | Chiba, Japan August 29th | Reading and Leeds Festivals 2015 | Reading, UK August 30th | Reading and Leeds Festivals 2015 | Leeds, UK  Link to comment
Starless Aeon
Never heard of babymetal before, but that shit is funny as hell! It holds no value as metal (for me), but as a parody is just brilliant. Link to comment
Veladarius
I'd rather have something different considering that everything here in the US sounds like the same crap recycled over and over. Most of the bands I listen to are from Europe with a few from Japan but it is getting harder to find ones that stand out. Link to comment
