A Red Dot Scans Over Your Devious Devices

I keep getting a message, "a red dot scans over your devious devices." I wouldn't worry about it, except every time it happens my character can't do anything and then if I'm looking at like a table or shelf all the stuff scatters everywhere as if I'd hit it with a mace. What mod is this from? I've got a bunch installed and don't want to have to spend hours scanning through it. 

 

Also, has anyone else had this problem?

It might be easier for someone to help if they knew what you have installed into your game which is why you should post a load order whenever you post a problem with a game. Have you run LOOT for load order and TES5EDIT afterwards to see if it picks up anything wrong?

 

Also it might say something in your papyrus log about it and what mod it's coming from.

I am paranoid about someone connecting this account to my nexus account and then to my actual name. So I don't go around posting my load order to limit the embarrassment of that ever happening. Not that it'd be much more embarrassing than ppl finding out I made Immerslave. But still.

 

I've spent dozens of hours on my current load order and hand-made merge patch (TES5Edit), and while might be load order related, I just want to know if someone knows which mod has that message. I can figure it out from there, and even fix a script and compile a new one if necessary.

No idea which mod that message is from. Definitely not from the core DD framework.

first place I'd start: tes5edit. do a search through the strings for 'red dot'. I recommend applying a filter for it.

sometimes, mod authors get lazy (or creative) and use CK messages as part of their stuff, rather than directly posting notifications in the script. if that doesn't help, get something like...notepad++, and use the "search all files in directory" option. lengthy, but if it's in a loose source script, it might find something. if none of the above works, there's always the tried and true: disable all, reenable one by one.

Sounds like Cursed Loot or Enchanted Chests wanting to start an estrus attack, but you are wearing more devices than the "don't equip if wearing more than X items" setting ... or your wearing a chastity belt.

The message is actually from Estrus Chaurus+.

 

It occurs when an EC Machine Animation event is called by another mod (e.g. Enchanted Chests or DCL)  and EC detects that the victim is wearing a chastity belt or other machine animation incompatible device.

 

Not sure why you are seeing the dust explosion as well (this is also part of EC+ events  but should not trigger if the machine animation is aborted.

It does unfortunately trigger no matter what. The strange thing is, having played through this more, that it occurs often even when I'm checking regular containers, and I have containers other than chests turned off. But I'm working on the damn devious devices quest now (map markers mostly broken so I hope I can get it done) and then hopefully I'll not have to worry about devices, and hopefully then it stops (and gets me trapped in a dwemer machine, still effing waiting on that). 

 

Having worked on an alt start mod this is like the first real "everything" playthrough I've had.
