Just don't directly embed multiple gif images to a post it causes the whole page loading times to go to shit. Also don't go overboard with the gif size the bigger it is the longer it will take to load which will also cause lag. Which will cause many to block that persons posts just so they can be able to load the page. You can also upload gifs to gfycat and post the link in a post and people can click on it and look at it if they choose to.

Then maybe it should be changed so people don't think GIF's can be used for avatars. If you go to your avatar and click change then mouse over the area right of the to choose file it pops up formats: JEPG PNG and GIF. To me that would make people think GIF's are a allowed format for avatars so maybe it should be removed so people don't think that they can use GIF's for their avatars.

Also rule #4 says no GIF's for signaures but it's doesn't state that anywhere for avatars in rule #5 so maybe rule #5 should be updated to state no GIF's.

The rule is talking specifically about animated gifs, I'm sure. Not all gifs are animated. The gif file format doesn't have to be animated.
