When I open the WinRAR file to see the mods, at packed i can see only a ? and when I extract them to the mods my louncher brokes...what can I do?

 

Get 7zip, much better than WinRAR and for free.

Unzip the file to your Desktop or into some folder.

 

You`ll get a folder "Oniki_KinkyWorld_v#.#.#" where #.#.# is your version number.

 

Go to your documents>Electronic Arts>Sims 3>mods>packages folder, delete all previous versions of KW, then copy the folder you got above into the packages Folder.

 

Go back to documents>etc>Sims 3 and delete the file ScriptCache.

 

Start the game and see if that helped.

I want to tell you why I support KW through Patreon. And also why I'm here, right now, spending time I wouldn't otherwise bother to on this.

 

Because I fucking LOVE this mod, and want it to continue to be developed. Any lesser or greater help it's possible for me to be towards that, I'm down with. I possess the same basic nothing-special-about-them "resource lookuppery" skills as anyone else here able to find it; I DON'T fucking NEED to pay for it simply to acquire the latest build being circulated. But it'd be really great if my relative piddlyshit financial contribution could help it reach a state of at least NEAR "completion" before the least grateful, least foresighted, most entitled, and most unnecessarily vitriolic portions of the mod enthusiast community as a whole (and not just here, it's practically universal) unintentionally form together the world's most douchetastic Voltron AGAIN & burn whatever internal desire initiated the project out of yet another modder & they swear off that project for good.

 

How many fucking modders have quit whatever they were working on for S3 (not to mention other games) over the years because having to constantly deal with the shit being flung at them was simply not worth it, regardless of whatever they were getting out of it? Yeah, Patreon & all that; but money is NOT always enough to sustain a personality & desire driven, one person project of this scale & depth; with the amount of time & focused mental immersion required to bring it to full fruition; in the face of having to deal with constant stress, aggravation, & hassle not even coming from the actual work you're doing. Not with the knowledge that just quitting would make the stress evaporate.

 

Because it's not like you only have to deal with it from just any one particular person; it becomes a focused beam of overwhelmingly overreactionary vitriolic angst over what usually amounts to the very firstiest of first world problems from every single person who simply can not ever turn down the asshole factor.

 

Wasn't fucking Twallan just in this thread recently, basically saying shit along those lines was why HE quit & would never go back? Twallan being a God & aspects of his situation & circumstances being different doesn't change that the tone from the collective giving end comes off very much the same; and the reaction to it in this (or any other) scenario runs a very real risk of ending the same as well.

 

I honestly don't know what the end goal some of you are trying to accomplish is; or why you think the particular approach & tone you use would accomplish it. It makes no sense to needlessly act like a dick, in service of nothing.

Okay, then try a fresh folder:

 

rename your Sims 3 Folder to something like Sims3bak and start the game, this will create a new Sims 3 Folder.

Copy your Options.cfg to this new folder, start the game (testing the Launcher).

 

If the Launcher does work, add KinkyWorld (nothing else) and test that.

That's all most people on here want to hear from her not a relayed message. I'm happy with the version I have. I'm not one to complain. Sometimes I don't even bother coming in here bc of the complaining from others. Nothing against any Patreons but your comments are bias. If you want to know why the people on here complain then you need to put yourself in their shoes. Go without updating your copy for 5 months while hearing about all the change logs. Now I didn't say stop supporting bc I agree with supporting her on this mod. I just want patreon users to understand where others are coming from. And to you nonpatreon users complaining, your the reason why she doesn't come in here anymore. If my post got bashed like this I would say heck with it, change my first page to final update and never come back. But since she has not done that, then I'm going to assume she does want to keep adding free updates. To you patreon users, you obviously forgot what patreon was originally for. It was for helping her be able to work on this full time which is great . But it was also originally set up for patreons to get the new version first to test and then it was supposed to be released to the public for free. Was only supposed to be a month or less between updates. Even if there were bugs they were released as free. The perk of being a Patreon was to receive it early. Then if you supported more you got other perks like getting to suggest more things and voice your opinion more. Anyone knows that if new options are added then obviously the version prior was stable enough to realease free. Obviously adding options creates new bugs but the version before the add ons would of been stable enough to release. My only reason for posting this is to help both patreon and nonpatreon users see why each side is upset. Of course she's going to say talking on Patreon is nicer and patreons are nicer. They don't feel neglected. The biggest problem on here is they feel neglected. If she did post here yea she might get upset users but if she would start posting regularly again the atmosphere in here would be better. I can't support her even though I would like to but my kids are more important than spending money I don't have on a mod. And don't anyone say, "we'll if you could buy the game you can support" some rude person a year ago already said that to someone. Just bc someone has a game doesn't mean they can support. A 1 time payment for a game isn't the same as a regular monthly payment. And yes all mods are supposed to be free, you can not argue that. Sorry if I made anyone mad. I don't like to get involved in arguments on the internet, but there is one thing that I really don't understand, and that is why some people seem to think they're entitled to demand updates from this mod. 

 

I understand both sides. I once was a patreon, but I'm not anymore. Of course I would love an update too, who wouldn't? But what I don't forget, is that Oniki spends a lot of time working on this mod, a mod that "should be free" because that's how modding for games works, or else it would be illegal and everyone will get mad because they all deserve free mods that took another a lot of time and bladiebladiebla. I think it is pretty lame that it's expected to always be for free ánd always be updated fast (the combination of those two, that is). As if we all deserve that for just playing sims 3 and want to have some mod, but in the mean time forget that without Oniki's hard work and input, we wouldn't even have a mod like this. 

 

Yes, a mod should be free, no, that doesn't mean it should be updated as fast as we all like to see, while Oniki apparently thinks there are bugs that need her attention first. I think It's up to her when she updates. But that's just my opinion. 

 

If she wouldn't have patreon, we wouldn't even know of the private builds (that already existed before patreon, that's the whole point I'm trying to make. Patreon only makes us know about them). That builds she wouldn't just drop here either with bugs she wanted fixed still in it.

Would it be great if there was an updated version of this mod, with new features? Sure.

 

Does the version I have work? Absolutely. I've been playing the sims 3 since it came out. I have always played the game roughly the same way, and adding KW has not changed how I play. It has only made it more enjoyable.

 

There is nothing about the current free version of KW that makes me say: 'this must be fixed'. There might be some bugs in it, but they are no worse than some of the bugs in the base game that have never been fixed. I have simply learned how to play around those.

 

No one is "entitled" to get something for free. I am just glad that there are all the talented modders out there that have offered their time and energy to make the sims 3 better than it was. If none of those existed, would you be demanding that EA gave the game away for free?

That one I'm gonna give to you, yes, there is lack of support here on LL by Oniki herself. That isn't how it should be. 

 

However, the 'build 281 is coming soon, she just need to get the bugs out of build 340 first' is bullcrap. This is version 0.2.8, the main mod and main count. On patreon they're called builds, as, maybe you would guess it yourself, it's a build, working towards version 0.2.9. 

So many people see the builds on patreon as releases, they aren't. They are test builds, builds that Oniki normaly would have tested out herself in order to squish the bugs out of them. Now they are tested by people that are willing to support her. 

 

Patreon builds aren't releases people. I know everyone sees it like that because "boohoo, there's stuff in it that I don't have", that stuff WILL come as this mod is still free. And yes, it is free, as the version that is up here works perfectly and will be updated. It will. How fast? That is up to Oniki as it is her work. 

 

Again, the builds would also be there without patreon, but we wouldn't know about them as only Oniki would test them. Modders don't magically ad some lines in their code and BOOM, there's the working mod, just like that! No, it takes time, it takes a lot of testing, and that's what happening on patreon. 

 

But yes. I agree. The level of support in this thread from the modder herself is too low.

yeah, l agree about "not so fast" but also not so "slow", have like from 5 months to a 1 yeah update difference between version is a little "too affar" too, having a regular update each 2 to 3 months can be fine with some "emergency updates in special cases can be good, but the way thing are now, just make things really bad, because she is passing a wrong image of herself to the non payed fans, while the payed fans are happy because they are getting all the support, imagine if she suddenly stopped to chat in patreon and the "regular" updates stopped too and take like 5 + month to get "anything(by anything i means even info), if they could be still happy and paying and giving support.

 

 

WoW i think which we must calm down and give her a chance to come and talk about and we can try to resolve it, that is the one only thing i really want, since she is a nice person then she know which this must be something for her to do and the peoples which are angry be ready to "talk" and not war, everyone diservers respect the modder, the free users and the payed users all we want is the samething which is be happy playing our games and have fun and some funny talk and help each other but to that we need all the sides to be here and open and be able to talk and discuss which is the real important part.

imho, it isn't crossing the line, and that's, as you already said, something debatable. 

 

Realistic and reasonable time is a bit of a  relative concept. For a mod, I think updating every 6 months is very realistic and reasonable.

You`ll get a folder "Oniki_KinkyWorld_v#.#.#" where #.#.# is your version number.

 

Go to your documents>Electronic Arts>Sims 3>mods>packages folder, delete all previous versions of KW, then copy the folder you got above into the packages Folder.

 

Go back to documents>etc>Sims 3 and delete the file ScriptCache.

 

Start the game and see if that helped.

Okay, then try a fresh folder:

 

rename your Sims 3 Folder to something like Sims3bak and start the game, this will create a new Sims 3 Folder.

Copy your Options.cfg to this new folder, start the game (testing the Launcher).

 

If the Launcher does work, add KinkyWorld (nothing else) and test that.

 

 

Again the same, the louncher brokes. When you had download the folder how you extract the files to packages?

 

 

You don`t have to extract them to packages; just double-click the file you got and WinRAR/7zip/whatever will unzip it. Just follow the pics.

 

Pic 1: put the zipped file into a Folder

 

Pic 2: double click it, your extraction program will open, you will see what`s inside.

 

Pic 3: make sure to highlight the folder and check the destination folder (unzip tutorial in this case).

 

Pic 4: you can see the zip-file and the unzipped (unpacked) folder.

 

Pic 5: when you have a look inside, you`ll see the files ready for use.

 

Last one: copy the Folder you just got by unzipping and copy it to your mods/packages Folder.

Give it a few min. Instead of pausing to load the mod it loads a while you play. After a bit the menu should show up

I'm going to cut back on replying to individuals; simply because I end up speaking to groups far more than the person(s) I replied to & don't want to cloud up the message I'm trying to get across by potentially coming off like I'm going on a random, tangential, jumping in someone's shit over little to nothing.

 

Personally, yeah, I completely get people's frustrations over both not being able to play what others are able to, and not having the modder themselves around to respond to comments or give support. It's definitely not an optimal situation; but I'm wondering if people aren't perhaps expecting a bit much out of this.

 

There's only so many hours in a day; & we're not talking about a dev company that has a dedicated support staff.

This is ONE person who is expected to be:

 

*Doing all the work on NEW features & adding more layers to existing ones

*figuring out how to quash the bugs they themselves are seeing in the current build they're working on

*Investigating bugs they're not seeing that others are reporting

*Answering support questions, in this case, both for those essentially paying to be testers (which, no matter how it makes you personally feel, HAS to take precedence over any other support; and being angsty towards either the patrons or Oniki for it is unreasonable); AND for other users playing on a previous build

*Responding to other comments of all kinds

 

That's a lot of fucking work for one person, on a sustained basis, under the most optimal conditions of circumstance, mind, & body. Should Oniki be around, on here? Yeah, optimally. But obviously this is not an optimal situation.

 

For whatever reason, there started being lapses here. Which I don't believe were intentional; see ALL of the above. Shit happens. And the angst that people felt regarding that started getting vented at Oniki, which obviously birthed a reluctance to come here & deal with that shit, which causes increasingly vitriolic angst to be vented... And we have an ouroboros.

 

I don't know Oniki; but from all that I've read from her, she does NOT, at all, strike me as the kind of malicious, deceitful person some in this thread have been accusing her of being. I think this is just a lot of shit for one person to be trying to sustain on a regular basis for a period of several years by themselves; and people would better serve themselves by damping down their expectations & letting go of their angst about shit that, honestly, in the big picture sense, really isn't all that important.

 

I mean, hell, if you had to choose between them, would you rather have Oniki hang around, answer your questions & talk to you, or advance the mod?

You might need an older version of Mike's animations.

One of the newer test builds created XML problems with the animations packages; Mike's latest release had fixes for those, so it'd have problems working with older builds, I'd imagine.

I downloaded this mod and animations aren't working and when i do the exhibitionist tree and remove top and bottoms the censor bar is gone but no nipples or vagina. Can anyone help me fix this?
