My Skyrim (Any pointers? other than "just have less mods you moron!!")

I got a combination of nexus mods and loverslab mods on my Skyrim and it is moderately stable.  And by moderately I mean it is perfectly playable but it has some unexplained kinks such as one of those afflicted guys causing my game to crash and any saves near him to be corrupt  but simply solved by console command killing him on sight.  And I have met quite a few of them before hand but that one apparently learned the thum for crash my computer.  It is a fun and frustrating experience to say the least lol.

This thread dosen't belong in the support area since its no error report its a discussion, but OP you should make something clearly visible from the sound of the first post it sounds like a error report.

 

Everyone has crashes from time to time if its a specific error like you described you should allways look for a proper solution. How many mods you can run only depends on your hardware and of course on what mods exactly you are running. I really don't know what you want to hear usually all error end in a ctd don't know what would be worth making a discussion out of it.

 

Most weird bugs I heard of are:

- Breats stay in place body moves

- Character allways tripping over every xx meters

- Breats don't stop growing

- Belly scooting when in hogtie pose really funny saw it myself imagin your character bound like a snail scooting on belly over the ground.

 

Dont know what else could be funny/weird bugs I guess this is something you wanted to hear?

You should not be having CTDs. If you use LooT, Skse with working memory patch, ENBoost (not enb necessary) and you don't remove mods mid game, you should be able to play without any problems at all. UFO is very incompatible with custom followers like Alicia painslut and/or Tania, meaning you just won't be able to recruit them without breaking their AI. Your mod order is small, you could definately fit even more mods in there and still keep it stable, but you need to use those three essential tools.

UFO is very buggy and can cause all sorts of problems, at least it did for me and several others. I recommend AFT instead. I never had any problems with that.

 

I would also stay away from Civil war Overhaul.

(my computer is from 2008, It's ancient! the only thing I have replaced is a new gfx card so it should be very possible to run skyrim with no ctd on newer computers)

Well if you mod your skyrim with script heavy mods you will 100% sure crash sometimes of cours if you don't have a lot of mods installed you are less liklely to get an ctd. I'm pretty sure everyone who has over 100 mods installed crashes sometimes. I personally have 255 mods active and 314 installed with merging it obviously crashes crashes sometimes this is also no question of hardware its allways a question of how much you have installed and how hard is the stuff you installed hitting the skyrim engine

Yeah thats true I always try to have as little script intensive mods as possible. I only pick what I really can't live without. If your running 300+ mods I guess it's unavoidable

I am using loot skse and ENBoost  so if I should not be having CTDs then idk what I am doing wrong.

My problem is mostly with my saves.  I am playing the game just fine no problems save and go the play the next day and while loading the save CTD

I don't think you can simply remove a mod like CWO and expect your save games to be okay...It says so on the page to not even install it to use on a previous character so I really hope that it is not the cause of the CTDs I think it might have something to do with SOS but I have yet to test that.

Note, I have had this problem before when I ran a heavy load of mods plus a poser mod. I could still play as long as I start a new game then you can load your old normal saves... A little annoying but the trick worked for me anyways. Doesn't solve the problem but a workaround.

Crash on save load is pretty common and likely has to do with heavily scripted mods in combination with the overall stress of the game spinning up.

 

These days I don't even try to load saves directly I always coc whiterun first.

 

I run Skyrim from a RAID0 and my load times are short anyway so this is not a big hassle. For someone with longer load times it's going to be a gamble between the extra time in loading from a new game or risk of a CTD and wasting even more time relaunching.

To me, not being able to load from the main menu is a norm if you want to have lots of mods. What I do is start a new game, press r on the first default character and then load the save I want from in-game. It's maybe more time (like 20 more seconds with ssd) but any save game you want loads from in-game. It's something you have to more or less expect with heavy set ups. What I mean, is I also have your "problem" since I went past the 20 mod mark, but since no-one has yet fixed being able to load from main menu any save game, you'd have to go the in-game route. That's what I do. It's a good trade off to spend another 20 seconds more for as many hours ctd free heavily modded gameplays you want.

Yeah....that kinda puts a damper on things I don't want to really do that....even if I know I can just super cheat and put my character back to where they were....

Increasing uExterior Cell Buffer to uExterior Cell Buffer=3600 helped my previous load order with 212 mods. It didn't solve CTD on save load completely but helped me a lot. I could load saves more often. Now with new game with 247 esp/esm activated it no longer works. I dunno unless someone comes up with some dll/SKSE new launcher file that solves CTD on save load it not gonna happen and each of us will have to rely on loading save in the small room because you can load a save game from a small room without CTD from main menu. If you don't believe me do yourself a favor:

 

1 Type coc unownedcell

2 Save

3 Quit the game

4 Launch SKSE launcher

5 Load the save game you created in Unowned Cell

 

If you get crash then it is 100% sure your mod setup is messed up.

I never had CTD loading Unowned Cell savegame with my huge mod setup and I almost never get crashes when playing.

 

So what we really need is some way for savegames to be loaded faster even with big setups. I dream of shademe releasing some kinds of SKSE DLL because he loved to work with SKSE/OBSE.

 

For convenient teleportation to Unowned Cell I recommend those two mods:

To me, not being able to load from the main menu is a norm if you want to have lots of mods. What I do is start a new game, press r on the first default character and then load the save I want from in-game. It's maybe more time (like 20 more seconds with ssd) but any save game you want loads from in-game. It's something you have to more or less expect with heavy set ups. What I mean, is I also have your "problem" since I went past the 20 mod mark, but since no-one has yet fixed being able to load from main menu any save game, you'd have to go the in-game route. That's what I do. It's a good trade off to spend another 20 seconds more for as many hours ctd free heavily modded gameplays you want.

 

OH MY FUCKIING GOD. I thought it was just me who had this my only save that loads is one right after character creation! WOO! I'm not doing something incredibly stupidly wrong, you sir/madam, just made my day.
