Mjana's Labyrinth: dead version (no longer supported)

Recommended Posts

So the system recovery went perfectly, Skyrim re-installed and accepted my backup data folders without any issues, and my saves work perfectly and seem to be in full order. The Creation Kit is re-installed, and I plan to be back to work on the mod tomorrow.

I also took the opportunity to install Steam and Skyrim OUTSIDE of my Program Files (X86) directory, with the odd (but certainly acceptable) side-effect of the game running more smoothly than before. I don't know if putting the installation outside of that folder is what caused it, or if it was the restore. I suspect it might be a little of both, but I'm definitely not upset about it :P

Overall, everything seems okay and in perfect working order. I managed to free up over 350GB of hard drive space, by ridding the machine of junk I hardly ever used, and in some cases, never used at all LOL

As long as I can re-organize the rest of my stuff as smoothly, I've only really lost a day of getting at least something done. I still need to re-download a few outside bits of software (like the NPC Editor, BOSS, etc..), and I should be good to go. Hopefully I can get caught up tomorrow, and get Jewel out to you before the weekend.

Thanks for you patience, and I'll keep you posted as usual :)

So here's what's been happening:

Jewel turned into quite the troublesome companion, and set me a full day behind schedule, because she decided to go into melee combat mode rather than use the spells I gave her :P So I scrapped her completely and started from scratch :@

Needless to say, she now see things my way after hearing what happened to her predecessor :D Renato will be getting the same eventually. I've discovered that using a completely new race, and templating it from an existing race is the better way to go. It's a slightly longer process, but the results are much more impressive. However, they're still susceptible to Bethesda's typical npc bugs, such as the facial discoloration, missing facepaint, etc., but nothing a quick "setnpcweight" console command can't fix.

I have a few minor tweaks to make in the morning, then a quick playtest to make sure everything works correctly, and I should be able to have an updated .esp out for you around midday so you can go get her from FallsView Lodge. She's still Dremora, so she'll still need to be escorted back there when you want to dismiss her, or she'll be attacked by, and fight everything in her path on her way back (she will likely rack up your bounty fast LOL).

There have been a number of changes/fixes, and there will be some things you'll need to do for Jewel (her armor and jewelry mainly, which I'm going to import as a native part of the mod at some point, but I'll include everything you'll need as a separate attachment for now). I'll list everything in the first post when I update the .esp tomorrow.

But for now, I'm going to crash.... I'm too tired (and half drunk) to do anything else LOL

Night all!

Just added a fix for Jewels face tint issue (missing warpaint and color mismatch). Thanks to Apachii's tip on exporting the files from the CK.

No more setting the npcweight in the console to fix her face! YAY! :P

Currently, I'm working on actor content for the upcoming combat dungeon addition, so I figured I'd drop a little taste of what's ahead on you:

This will be a typical dungeon end boss, pictured here doing battle with Jewel:

DemonQueen1.jpg

DemonQueen2.jpg

At the moment (and to facilitate getting these screens easily :P ), this boss is relatively easy, and not indicative of the difficulty of future renditions of a Demon Queen. So needless to say, Jewel was pretty proud of herself once the Queen was defeated :D :

DemonQueen4.jpg

And she dropped the armor set I put her in when she was created:

DemonQueen3.jpg

I'm hoping to include more interesting loot in these boss encounters in the future, as well as complete quest lines that provide objectives that lead you into these bosses.

I've been mulling over adding the Demon Race as a playable race in the mod, but I haven't really decided whether its a good idea or not, since it may detract from the mob base it was created for. So tell me what you think. If enough would like to see this race as playable, it's a simply tickbox option to add it in. The morph and armor race is set to darkelf, so using custom hairs and armors shouldn't be an issue if it's playable.

I wouldn't mind the Demon race' date=' I might use it but I'm currently using Bella's Demon race that came in her 5 race pack. And I can't wait for that first dungeon!

[/quote']

That's pretty much my thought as well. There's already a demon race mod out there (and likely more detailed as a playable race), and I worry that it might detract from the immersion factor of the encounters. So I'll most likely just set that idea aside, at least for now.

And thanks for the input. It's things like that which help me make toss-up decisions like this a bit easier :)

No problem! Will be testing the new update soon!

Edit: I found something weird. Might be my Skyrim not being updated at all or whatever. Jewel looks weird. I have used the face fix but the face is still different from the body. And she's also naked, not that I'm complaining of course ;) but the texture is off. As before, might just be my Skyrim. If you look on Lydia's back, you can see some lighting problems, I've never gone around to fix it. I'm pretty sure that's the problem... If you know how to fix the lighting problem, can you help me?

So I decided to look into maybe getting some ideas from Bella's race pack. And I found what I was able to create from the mod for characters as a definite asset if I can get permission from Bella to import the races for use as npc bosses, underlings, etc..

Here's what I came up with from just a few of them (using Ran's head mesh btw):

The Vampire (likely to be dubbed "Fallen Angel" as an npc race):

Vampire1.jpg

Vampire2.jpg

The Undead (most likely to retain it's race name):

Undead1.jpg

Undead2.jpg

The Serpent (also likely to retain race name, or some variation):

Serpent1.jpg

Serpent3.jpg

I was quite impressed. And I think they would make awesome npc mobs scattered around various themed dungeons I have planned. I would use the male versions as well of course (I was just anxious to see what the females looked like :P ). I also put a lot of time into armor choice for each, and what they're wearing seems to suit them well.

Does anyone know how to contact Bella, other than through Nexus? If not, I'll send off a message tomorrow or the next day.

TIA, Trykz

edit: either Nexus hates me, or Bella has PMs turned off. I tried to message her, but to no avail. If anyone else can offer assistance in getting a message through, I'd appreciate it immensely. If I can't get permission to use her files by tomorrow evening, I'll scrap the idea and move on. I'm further behind schedule than I care to be, thanks to the earlier mention comp issues.

TIA, Trykz

I finally spoke to BellaGail yesterday, and acquired permission to use her races for npcs within the Mjana's Labyrinth mod. I've completed a good portion of the combat dungeon, and am in the process of adding npc encounters. I'll be importing Bella's race and texture files later today, and will start creating new, custom npcs later tonight.

I'll also be revamping ALL of the existing Labyrinth npcs, and adding their textures and meshes to the next update to resolve the face color issue once and for all. I managed to created new, custom common factions which will determine how npcs within the mod react to each other, and to the player. All Redlight, Menagerie, and FallsView guard npcs will be neutral to the player and each other, and I'll be adding Jewel as well to resolve the conflict between her and FallsView's guards. Once complete, FallsView's guards will be back at their posts :P

The combat dungeon is themed around the demon race I presented earlier, which is non-hostile to Falmer, Daedra, Dwarven Machines, or Dragons. I'm working on adding prisoner and slave factions as well, so don't be surprised to find some wandering around in the dungeons I release in the future ;)

The dungeon is based on the entire Irkngthand Worldspace, and uses all 4 tiers of that dungeon. I'm debating myself right now, about whether to eliminate some of the vanilla mobs. I playtested a bit with a higher level character on master mode, and some of the encounters got pretty "busy" when the additional demon mobs joined the fray LOL

Anyway, that's where I'm at right now. I try to get a few screens posted for you to check out this evening. Things are moving pretty quickly though, and assuming I have no issues with importing Bella's race and texture files, the next update may very well be ready to go much sooner than I expected :D

So stay tuned!

Adding myself to stupid question pool ;)

I really cannot fin download link for main version of this beautiful espansion....

There is no "main version". What you download is the entire mod. FallsView Lodge, The Menagerie, and Redlight Palace are ALL included. There's no external base mod to download/install. Everything you see posted in the original post (as well as the updated stuff I add) is included in a single download package that overwrites any previous package you may have had installed. Any special instructions you might need, can always be found in my first post (such as those posted for the Jewel companion) :)

Enjoy!

Yay! This is going to be good! :D Oh and here's my character in the Redlight Palace. A bit dark so you can't see much. She's sporting Bella's Demon race.

Let me see:

1) I downloaded two files from first post of the thread: one file called "MjanasLabyrinthPlus.rar " about 9.35 mb lenght and another, smaller file, called " JewelFaceFix.rar".

I installed (manually) the mod(s) and I obtained a location called "Fallsview lodge". Inside the lodge I found "Jewel"

Problems:

1) on the right, just passed the three-bridge I only found blacksmith tools and a smelter, and no trace of a dungeon of some sort.

2) Jewel is not really as we can see in ur pictures... ;) It is very similar to one picture posted by an user (I cannot precisely remember which one): she is naked, head without horns, neck seam with skin tone very bright and body very dark.

I feel kinda stupid, because I have installed and updated really tons of Skyrim's mods and this is the very first time I feel this way... ;)

Ah, so I'm not the only with this problem huh? The dungeon has not been implemented. She just started on the creation of the dungeon.

LOL, thanks for explaining that, mega.

The problem Axios, is that you didn't read the first post fully. Jewel's armor is the Dark Lilith set (which includes the horns), available here on LL. The face tint issue was also explained, and that's what the additional download was added to fix. That's why the file is called "JewelFaceFix". It matches her face texture to her body. If Jewel doesn't look as pictured, that's the result of whatever headmesh and face/body textures you're using, and not something I can resolve for you. She uses precisely the same exact body files your female characters do.

Now, about this "picture". Find it, and link it here. Because Jewel is an exclusive npc companion, available ONLY within this mod. And if her files were ripped from my mod, then someone had better start talking fast, because NO ONE has yet asked for my permission to use anything I've created.

Ahh... no worries then.

But the mismatched texture issue is odd after using the face fix. However, you can try this:

Go into \Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim\Data\Textures\actors\character\FaceGenData\FaceTint\Mjanas_Labyrinth.esp\ and you should find some texture files there. Try moving those out of the Mjanas_Labyrinth.esp folder (just put them anywhere temporarily), then log in and see if she's fixed.

If that fixes the issue, just delete the files you moved out of the folder.

Another "sure-fire" fix is a bit more complicated, and requires the CK to perform. But if you have the CK installed, just find Jewel's npc file (NOT the race file) inside the .esp and click on it. Once it's highlighted, press ctrl+f4, and that will export the meshes and textures you currently use to the proper location in your data folder, for a sure match of her head/body textures.

Let me know how you make out.

Well, I took out the two files there. It was a .dds and a .tga file right? I then went back into Skyrim but she's still the same. I would use the CK to fix it but CK crashes my computer every time so I'm not sure if I want to download that again.

Less-mega reply ;-) :

I see then I need to get Dark Lilith set.... I thought it was already included in the mod, because it seems to me I have found some .esp file called "Dark Lilith" inside the mod itself, but I must be mistaking.

For Jewel's head: I already applied the "face fix"... so maybe my other mods conflict with this... I will try to check better...

The picture I saw was just the one which was linked by the other user.

Only "problem" remaining: afert downloading and using those files (the one about 9.35 mb and the face-fix) I really cannot find any dungeon or any other structure beside the lodge and the "workshop area" on the right, after crossing the tree-bridge. Even if I really have lost most of my understanding of enligh language, still it is difficult to me to (maybe I am distracted by the beautiful pictures and "enthralled" by the expectation of trying your awesome mod ;-) ) to know if the dungeon is implemented yet or U are simply , most enthusiastically, referring to your WIP and it is not available yet (at least in this thread).
