Icemoore Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Umm.. if I have windows 8 is it different to mod the game with? I mean I see the files I have are 7z and I don't think I can get that for Windows 8...so, is modding any different or can I use a different program? that's hopefully safe.
BillBellochek Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 I have Windows 8.1, upgraded from Win8, and I'll tell you now you'll be fine. Windows doesn't know what a 7z file is by default, but that won't be a problem because your Skyrim Modding program probably will. What program do you use? ModOrganizer, Nexus Mod Manager, or do you mod without a program to help you?

If you're new to modding, then first-timers will have to consult S.T.E.P.: http://wiki.step-project.com/Main_Page 7z means they're compressed files that can be opened with 7zip. TBH, to get results like most of us here, you'll have much to learn.
Icemoore Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 No I just never had to use them with windows 8. and is there a version of 7zip to use with it?
Rayblue Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 The latest version of 7zip will work with any version of windows, just that there's the 32bit and the 64bit versions.
myuhinny Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 There is also winrar and uni extrator I use all three on my system as sometimes one thing will not unzip with one but will with one of the other 2.
Icemoore Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 And they're safe to use? I never got any bad things from them, but just making sure..
BillBellochek Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Yeah, I've been using 7zip since I was 13. So for last 7 years it hasn't failed me. Here's a link to a safe place to download 7zip, no viruses I guaruntee Filehippo's safety. Download 7zip 64-bit. You just have to click the green button that says Downoad Latest Version (1.38MB).
myuhinny Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Winrars official site. http://www.win-rar.com/start.html?&L=0 7.zips site http://www.7-zip.org/ Universal Extractor http://www.legroom.net/software/uniextract use whatever you want.
