SarahSluttyCatGirl Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 I don't know whats happening i had it happen before but all i had to do was delete all games and steam itself from my computer then it would work again but that is not happening this time.
myuhinny Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Is the steam.exe file missing? I had it happen awhile back I had to remove everything from my steam folder to a different folder and then reinstalled steam then I just had to place my folders and stuff that I removed back into my steam folder and it was good to go.

myuhinny Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Have you tried shutting down your virus protection if you have one and seeing if it's caused by that. Do you have zone alarm or something like it? If so go into programs under zone alarm or whatever you are using and make sure that steam is set to trusted if it's not then change it. How much crap do you have running in the background? Â If you are using windows use CTRL + ALT + DELETE and bring up the task manager there you will be able to see processes running cpu usage and physical memory. Also running a virus scan and something like malwarebytes anti malware remover to see if there is something on the computer to see if there is something like a virus or spyware/malware on your computer.
gregathit Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 For the love of all that is holy, don't delete all your games!!! Â Just download and reinstall steam into the same directory and you should be fine.

Guest endgameaddiction Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Have you registered to send a help request? I had to do that a week ago because of account issues. They responded a few days later after I had bumped my request.
SquallPT Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 ctrl + alt + del open task manager and click on the processes tab and check if Steam.exe is working. If it is, end it. Â just saw a crazy video on youtube, don't know if this works. Open steam folder, delete everything EXCEPT Steam exe and steamapps folder. Restart the computer and see if this works.
mojodajojo Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I remember having a steam problem a month ago or so, and I'm pretty sure the "delete everything EXCEPT Steam exe and steamapps folder. Restart the computer and see if this works" worked for me. No idea why.
SquallPT Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Not idea if it works, saw on youtube Probably it will since it makes steam to be downloaded again.
Imperfection Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Try renaming the file clientregistry.blob in your steam folder to clientregistry.blob.BAD then launch steam, this works when steam launches and cannot connect to network and then closes.
