I have a stupid question and I don't know where to ask it!

So here you go:
How long does an overdose take to kill a person?
I could look this up, and I did, but all I got were stupid troll answers and people begging other people not to kill themselves.
Google isn't helpful all the time, only some of the time when asking legitimate questions.

Note that I am not depressed or suicidal, quite simply curious for personal reasons.

So yeah, how long does someone overdosing on something take to die? Would they simply pass out for six hours?
Reason I ask is because I have a feeling it's less than six hours and someone is bullshitting me really fucking hard.

Not to mention no sane person, witnessing someone seizing in front of them, would just let it happen for six hours and tell other people that the person in question is fine.

So like, yeah, six hours? Hmm?

That certainly depends on what they took, and how much of it.

6 houers would certainly be possible if it's a bottle full of over-the-counter painkillers, people attempting suicide with that crap will find taht it is a very slow, and incredibly painful way to die.

If it's Heroin, then no, that tends to kill a whole lot faster.

Let's say it's just some medication with a drink.

This person says in the autopsy they found cocaine in the person's body.

It's not necessarily the actual overdose leading to seizure etc, but also things like choking on your own vomit because your reflexes are no longer working & stuff like that. Especially when it comes to medication & alcohol. Also, if you pass out somewhere outside, you can just get undercooled.

Eh, without more details i could load into google and search for, i don't know what to tell you (but you could do that yourself so.. macht es dir selber!).

There are substances that you could OD on and die within seconds, and there are substances that could take almost a full day to kill you even if you took a ton of it, it all depends on what it is, how much of it, and the person's own state of health prior to it.

So yes, a 6-houer OD is possible if it's the right stuff or the right amount. I've known people who took a lot longer than that to die OD'ing on meds.

Basically here's the story as they told me it.

1/ This dude was OD'd, passed out for six hours, before that he was jerking around and foaming at the mouth.

2/ His GF texted the dude's brother saying he was okay even though the guy's brother knew nothing of the problem... which.. you know... wat?

3/ Cocaine was found on his body, theory is someone mixed it in with his medication in a drink. I don't think it works that way and cocaine isn't just growing on trees. There's easier ways to kill a person.

That's what I could make out of it and reading it back it doesn't make sense. I don't have any medical expertise, mind you, so.. yeah.

The problem is if there's any trace of an illegal drug, it ends up an open & shut case: OD due to the illegal drug. Fact is, if there's meds & alcohol involved, as well as maybe something else, & who knows, sleep deprivation & low blood sugar, shit can happen due to a combination of all that. It gets even worse when people are afraid of calling an ambulance due to the illegal drug factor.

And yeah, coke is expensive, people don't just go around putting it in someone's drink. Nevermind that digesting it is probably the least effective way of administering it, short of rubbing it on your skin maybe.

So, basically this is bullshit like I thought.

Good.
