Hedlum Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Just a quick itty bitty noobish question. I'm doing a fresh install and so far all my mods have been installed through Mod Organizer. But how should I install my adult mods? Would it be better to install mods from this site with MO or with FOMM? Is one easier or safer to use then the other?
myuhinny Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Not sure on MO as I have always used FOMM for my fallout new vegas.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 FOMM has been reliable from the start. You can't ever go wrong with FOMM. Me on the other hand I'm considering the switch for more control. Plus, it's hard not to love the profiles. I just only wish in the future that tannin can create a virtual way to allow each profile to support their own game folder so I can use multiple ENBs for each profile.
Halstrom Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Most of us prefer FOMM, and I believe there are a few tricks to using MO for New Vegas, but it's better than NMM from what I hear.
judge0 Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Mod Organizer works great with Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 3. It will never replace FOMM, as some mods have to be installed with FOMM running under Mod Organizer.

I went back to it a few days ago and didn't see it. hmm.... Either way it shouldn't be any different than FOMM. The only thing people would be missing is the switch from FO3 to FNV. And for that you'd have to install an older version for each game, which it's basically what I do. I keep Skyrim with the latest version and use an older version for FO3.

Install FOMM and add it as a utility under MO, run it under MO, and select all the archives that are fomods (HUDs for sure). Once you have installed all the archives required, activate them. Then exit FOMM and they will be in Overwrite folder. Make a folder for them, and move contents of overwrite folder there. Enable and done.
AwfulArchdemon Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Use both to keep your files as clean as possible. Just FOMM still runs risks. Or, unFOMOD the mods (loose files), repack for MO and install. Using MO to run FOMM will still bypass the whole point of clean files (MO = virtual, FOMM = direct).
