Skyrim Videos/Interviews Etc.

Recommended Posts

Maybe we should start a topic where we post the newest info about Skyrim that we can find. I'll start, I think this is new because of the date but I apologize if this is an older video...Interview with Todd Howard for a German? website.

http://www.spikednation.com/evideo/elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-interview-todd-howard

Some things mentioned in this video that I didn't know-

There are lots of puzzles "More than we've done before."

The traps have taken a huge step forward. Hopefully they are more deadly now.

Current count of dungeons - 110 unique ones!!

Giants will have mammoths with them..I'm guessing the mammoths will be big too

There will be loading into towns, like Oblivion

Some creatures are more important than others, they spent more time on them..and not just the dragons

The Nexus gave us an interesting bit of data, today: it might be possible for romance/friendship type of relationships to make it into the game.

It originally came from this (german) article (page 3 of it): http://www.giga.de/top-themen/00152378-the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-vorschau-episch-neu-definiert/

Note that I stated that it might be in there, as the article only states they're planning on it, and it hasn't been confirmed by Bethesda itself, yet.

Edit: Holy shit, I just realized something. They already confirmed children before. Combined with this... That could mean that getting children might be an option, too. (and if not, modding the game to do so would be a lot easier, methinks, with children already included.  ;D )

Also' date=' it seems that the Creation Kit is similar to the Construction Set according to Todd Howard. So that means it might be easy to convert Oblivion stuff into Skyrim... :)

Please God no.  Conversion already ruined any armor and clothing related originality in Fallouts 3 and NV, I pray to whatever deity will listen that that won't be possible for Skyrim.

Or at the very least, let it be difficult to do.  We need originality, not port after port after port after port after port after port...

When I posted that, that was one of the vague things Todd discussed. But I do think the Creation Kit will be a lot different but those that are used to CS will probably find it similar or familiar to it?

Well I just read CD-Action (game magazine in Poland ) and reactions from Skyrim E3 presentation

*Graphics is not so good as on screens or on trailers its more like enchanted Fallout engine or even oblivion (low res textures while zooming and unatural glow )

*Fighting is like button mashing rather than RPG style.

*Npc behavior is not so great as they where telling NPC are doing their work and sometimes give some comments for example farmer telling how hard his life is but his voice is not matching to expressions.

It still can be fair RPG but I think unless modders start working on it ..we will be back to Oblivion

Well, they seem hard to impress!

What do they mean by "button mashing rather than RPG style"? I honestly am confused. Do they mean Dragon Age style combat is better? The Witcher 2 Style Combat? From what i've seen, it's much more realistic in the sense that your free to move around, fight dragons like you would have in reality, instead of waving a sword at their toes.

I'm also positive that any weird things regarding NPC's and their facial expressions will be fixed by the time it is released (Skyrim isn't even a beta yet). The graphics will also improve over time and they looked great to me, MUCH better than fallout or Oblivion, even though they are in a whiter or "duller" environment than Oblivion.

Todd Howard also said that the team is taking stuff from Oblivion mods and implementing them into Skyrim (one example is with the slower but more powerful bows). Who knows what else they've added/will add?

Skyrim will also be moddable, even so for 360 users and they've already fixed a lot of gripes about oblivion.

Not to flame or anything I felt like saying this. No hard feelings to anyone :D .

Those videos utterly stunned me. Oddly, despite all the awesome effects and fuctions, the trench the second dragons body left in the dirt awed me most I think. That, and the storm spell. Immediatly made me decide I was going to be a Mage first time through (even if the game doesn't restrict you; I prefer to RP and restrict myself) so I can do the whole 'Gandalf on a tower, making storms, and slaughtering dragons'.

Except, you know, a young female gandalf with the possiblity that the dragon may pin her to the roof and have its way with her once Lovers is ported.
