Skyrim difficulty and scaling problems how we can go hardcore?

Hi guys,

Problem: Enemies not scaling properly,

Spec:

I7 4770K processor,

8 Gb RAM,

2x R9 290X gpu,

Asus Rog HERO motherboard.

SSD samsung EVO

I have the latest genuine (STEAM) Skyrim (version 1.9) with all ( HF, DB, DG ) DLCs.

I am using the following programs/mods :

Mod organizer,

Skse 1.7 alpha

Skyui

FNIS

Mods that are affecting combat:

Skyre (without scaling module)

Revenge of the enemies,

Asis ( just potions, spells, spawns, perks package.),

Sum,

Wyre Smash, (bashed patch)

Ultimate combat,

Deadly dragons---> deadly monsters

Dual sheath redux,

Skyrim monster mod V4

Monster wars V6

Skyrim immersive creatures,

High level enemies,

High level enemies hardcore.

I have many more other mods, but they are not affecting combat stats.

(visuals, armor, weapon compilations followers and new lands.)

Longer description:

The enemies were too soft so I started to use HLE and then HLE hardcore. I haven't seen any amped up special enemies yet as I am level 11, but the reason why I am writing is that for example yesterday I wanted to attack a bandit fort.

All enemies outside were lvl 1 bandits and I am lvl 11.

It was ridicolously easy with my 2 followers .Inside I ran into 1 bandit outlaw lvl 5

And 1 bandit thug lvl 9. The rest of them was lvl 1 again.

Someone can explain to me how this HLE scaling supposed to work?

I have that version which says enemies will scale with you. Obviously not...

Also saber cats lvl 3. Draugrs lvl 1-2...

Restless draugrs are lvl 6.

I started to use deadly dragons/monsters to amp up the enemies if they not scale with me properly and then lvl 1 enemies are a bit more challenging but when a lvl 8-11 version shows up( it is happening occasionally) it is almost invincible...

Somebody can help me to explain this is should be like that or I am doing something wrong?

As I am understanding when HLE says enemies will scale with me that means they should be all lvl 11 as me or they should have THAT variant turns up which in level matches to me (for example Bandit Thug lvl 9 or Highwayman lvl 14 when I am lvl 11) ?

My experience: SIC creatures are really hard which is good.

Monster mod monsters are a bit weaker but in level they are high---I met with a lvl 18 forest drake at lvl 6 so maybe they are a bit overscaled but maybe they are not effected by HLE wich is fine.)

So i think JUST the VANILLA CREATURES have scaling problems. I can be wrong, but this is what I think.

(how I do it--> Bashed patch--->(skyre post ,pre, and reproccer esps turned off let merge the mergeable mods then rebuild patch)---> after bashed patch--->prereproccer.esp turned back on-->SUM (wich uses/creates---->BOSS---> ASIS--->Dual sheath redux--->Reproccer patches in this order). I checked what is in the bashed patch: SIC MoMOD and HLE is included too.--->enable reproccer and post reproccer.esp--->play.)

As far as I know the scaling should be done by High level enemies mod as the Author in the mod description states on the webpage his mod is NOT compatible with Skyre scaling module (module 6) so this is why Skyre scaling module is left out.

However it is compatible with Skyre and with deadly dragons, ASIS.

In MO Higher level enemies NOT conflicting with anything.

My questions are:

1.How vanilla scaling works?

2. How HLE should work (every creature is at my exact level (because Hardcore, maybe even higher)) ?

3. The way how I do the bashed patch and skyproccers is good?

4. What can cause the problem generally?

Thank you for your help people:)

Shouldnt you write this in forum post of that mod (HLE)? Thats what one usually do while having problems with some mod.

if you find game too easy then Skyrim itself has game difficulty setting. Tho running with 2 followers would likely send that difficulty out the window even if you would set it to highest.

HLE mod author is abandon his mod it seems.

I thought I had some technical difficulties with skyrim and it's mods. So I shouldn't post here? This is not technical support for Skyrim?

90% of the posts here could be posted on one of the corresponding mods page at the comment section. Just saying.

It is not related just to HLE if you would have read my post you would have seen it. My questions were about Skyrim's scaling system and yes about HLE as well regarding using other stat/difficulty changing mods as well.

Yes I already dicovered the difficulty slider several years ago by myself. If it would be just so easy to solve the difficulty issues with the game we wouldn't have mods for this particular reason. What do you think why they are exist, why we just not using the slider?

I am totally aware that the followers are getting stronger when I increase the difficulty.

THIS is the very reason why I don't want to increase it by the settings menu and this is why I am looking for a solution.Thank you for the help btw.

What version of Asis are you using ?? if it is the latest then switch off SUM this mod has not been updated properly in some time and will cause advert effects when using with the latest Asis like the mod page is recommending. other then that what are using SUM for to ??

Game slider does effect overall feel of the entire game if you set it too easiest then no matter what combat mods you have it will not naturally make everyone stronger.

I am not sure how HLE works but maybe Dynamic Difficulty is what you are looking for ??

Also in cases like this it will be better to post your full load order some of the mods break pretty easily if not used right load order.

That scaling doesn't mean that once you ll get to lv 10 you wont see enemy lv 1 anymore.

Scaling enemies have several difficulty settings - this is how bethesda made them.

There are "green" - which would be on way lower that your own lv. Those can rly be way lower than you, even like lv 10 when you are 60.

"yellow" - which would be higher lv. Should be similar to yours. Tho obviously their limit is lv 25ish

and "red" - usually used only for the boss of some dungeon but there are exceptions.

You would have to fire up CK to see that, but usually 80% of enemies in a dungeon are green.

How HLE changes that i have no idea.

Problem with follower on highest setting isn't that he/she becomes powerful but that penalties applied to you (reduced dmg done, increased dmg taken) are not applied to your follower.

And that's the reason such mods are needed - don't think bethesda devs spent more than 3 minutes creating those highest difficulty settings.

Its just multiple your dmg taken by something, divide your dmg done by something. Seriously doubt anyone there spent more than a minute thinking about consequences of such thing.

That's just Skyrim - some things are amazing. Others are plain retarded. Difficulty setting is obviously among the letter.

Thank you for the answers,

I found out how HLE works now, not everything is clear but it seems somehow it is still binded to the vanilla level list, which means I will have 3 bandits which are one hit and die even when they look into my eyes, and then I will get a bandit wich will roflstomp me and my fellow followers.

As I can see the difficulty level for myself maybe manageable with various mods, but I wanted some followers for a good old rpg feeling, Cerwiden for healing, Inigo for fun, Sophia for yeah...for fun again.

But because of them difficulty needs to be kept at the bottom, and if I will give huge bonuses to the creatures (via deadly monsters) then the orange and red difficulty level creatures will annihilate us. Then the next mob will be easy again due to the lovely lvl1-lvl x scale and spawn system. ..

I still try to find some solution.

Yeah maybe, but I am sure I haven't been inside.I was prepared for a tough fight and it was a big disappointment.

After that I just bumped into a lvl 8 sorcerer outside ( maybe from SIC) with spells distributed by asis from apocalypse spell mod and he is just blew up Sophia, one-hitted Cerwiden and sent me to bleakfalls barrow with somekind of lightning.

I realoaded the game at least 5 times when we finally could killed him. He was lvl 8 and amped by deadly monsters (by me). Because he had higher level his power has been multiplied. Which is fine, but the next nordic ruin was disappointment again with too many lvl 1 draugrs. I f I could just somehow crank up the higher level spawns instead of low levels that would do it, it would be perfect...

Edit: I just checked out the dinamic difficulty mod.Seems interesting I will try out then, just I am wandering what it will do with followers. (difficulty)

Also the combat won't be too average?.

Maybe this is the solution.:)

Thank you for mentioning.

Have you tried using just the skyre mods and legendary difficulty?

Personally I just use Skyre (and deadly dragons) on legendary.  Leveling has been a challenge.  At level 55 mages still whoop my ass as my enchanting isn't high enough for decent resist magic enchants, easily taking down me and my companions if I'm not careful about it (usually Serana + 1 other - they do okay, but mostly they just keep a couple enemies occupied while I do the real work).  But with smithing at 125 and some good dragonscale rated armor, melee combat isn't over whelming.  Some fights are long and drawn out, some enemies can hit like a truck even with my massive armor rating, and sometimes there's a swarm of lower levels that individually aren't impressive but make up for it with archers and a few melee troops all taking me on at the same time.  Dragon battles = lolgoodluck.

Thank you, but did you read my post?

I AM USING deadly dragons and skyre.

Also i explained just above why raising the ingame difficulty by the slider is NOT what I would like to do.

Yes, I did.  I read all the posts. I was merely suggesting you try using the skyre scaling module rather than HLE, which you said was abandoned and didn't seem to be doing what you want it to do anyway... not to mention that you never said whether or not you had tried it in the first place.  Or you could try using the unscaled version of HLE, which only scales the NPC's that it adds and use skyre scaling module for the vanilla npcs.

Have you tried the difficulty slider with the scaling mods?  Using the difficulty slider alone is a far cry from using it with combat and scaling mods.  With skyre scaling, enemies are still stupidly easy to beat on novice, adept, and apprentice levels.  It's not until master and legendary that they become a challenge.  Yes, your followers are more powerful in that they don't receive the nerfs that are applied to the PC, but that might be offset by the scaling done by the mods in combination with the difficulty slider.  It certainly is in my game - my two companions, a mage and a warrior equiped with a two handed daedric mace, are not the least bit over powered.  As I said, they keep enemies busy, not steamroll them.

If you try the skyre encounter mods while using the difficultly slider youll find its plenty hard enough ive been 1 shotted plenty of times by 2h bandits even at higher levels while playing 1h s&b fighters in daedric or better also i recommend obis it will add bandits to the world. For a really tough non slider skyrim grab sands of time and set it on spartan preset youll get overwhelmed if you stand still in dungeons for to long =). Sands of time can be found here and its a ongoing project so its constantly being updated http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/12452/?

Huuhh thanks guys,.my problem with levels and difficulty is solved finally.

Anyone who would like a hardcore skyrim:

Ingame difficulty: Adept

Mods:

SIC

HLE sic edition,

Monster mod v4

Monster wars v6

Ultimate combat

Revenge of the enemies,

Deadly dragons/monsters.

Oh my god...

Yesterday i went to occupy a bandit fort.

It was tough enough i died like 10 times.

I meet with the bandit chief, a women in full plate armor, there was no chance against her...

I fled. She followed me outside all the way along from fort green wall to Riften. I almost had a heart attack. She was everywhere, finally the guards at Riften stopped her until I entered the city lol.

Enemies smart, they kite, dodge, using their shields, archers hide, everyone got special attacks,

But still followers are killing machines. They hit 3x bigger than me with steel weapons. I don't know what should I do with them...
