New Vegas Redesigned - everything purple

So, I got the following problem:

 

When I just install New Vegas Redesigned, the bodies don't match the faces (i.e. black bodies, white faces on a lot of Kings).

Now, there is an instruction to fix this in the NV Redesigned folder, telling me to change some stuff in the Fallout.ini, FalloutPrefs.ini and FalloutDefault.ini, while also copying the "ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated!.bsa" into the Data folder.

So far so good, but as soon as I'm done with this and try to start the game, my entire screen turns purple and I can't even get in the game.

I followed the instructions to the letter, but apparently something is wrong/missing or whatever... anybody got an idea?

You are over the mod limit. If you have more than 139 mods, the game becomes increasingly unstable to the point where it refuses to load. Reduce your load order.

 

got it down to 138 now.

 

Also got another really weird bug, which has been occurring sometimes since yesterday. I thought it was caused by NV Interiors, because when I deactivated that one it disappeared for a while, but it just reoccured.

Bit hard to describe, but the lettering is all off and I can't click anything anymore... looks like this:

My load limit is 100.  Hit 100 = Stuff breaks.  Go Back to 99 = Everything's awesome.

 

You do have some inactive mods in your list.  Those count towards your mod limit as well.

 

This is the half-assed tutorial about how to use FNVEdit w/ a script to distill some of your esps into one esp so that you can remove the esps that were used to make the new one.

 

Read the fuck out of the guy's page on the Skyrim Nexus page that talks about using the script.  He's also got a video that shows you what's up.  IIRC, he said that merging esps/esms with new world spaces works now. 

 

Personally, I only merge what I consider to be "tiny" mods that I use every install:  armors, radios, esps that change a setting or two (in world radios are off by default, etc.), etc.  Stuff that really shouldn't conflict with each other or larger mods.  That's just my personal level of comfort. 

 

DO NOT MERGE SEXOUT ESMS OR ESPS.

 

If you're having problems getting it to work, reread that guy's page and search on the support thread in the Nexus for people with similar issues.

If you have a huge armor / clothing collection or mods such flora overhaul etc. it could be a source of some issue such as pink people, black textures, extrem lags, etc. 

 

Now, about your dialog issue, do you use DARNui ? Look like a UI / font problem or a ini file reset by the vanilia launcher.

Guess I will try that, seems promising, thx. Will report later, whether it worked.

Also didn't know about inactive plugins counting, so I guess my first step will be to delete those.

No UI Mods (unless Smaller Talk or Imps Needs Hud count as that, but I've had those for ages) and I did a complete reinstall yesterday to see if it was indeed an ini file or something like that (just backupped my Data folder before and re-copied it afterwards), so it's not that either. I wish it was something that simple, I'm getting tired of fixing one mod problem just to have two new ones come up... :/

 

Anyway, thanks for all the input so far, I hope I'll get the game running normally again soon...

So, it seems the problem could've actually been the inactive plugins.

That would explain, why de-activating several plugins did nothing to fix the problem.

So I uninstalled a few more and deleted them completely and now the game seems to be working perfectly again. So thanks for that advice, would've never thought that inactive plugins could be the problem.

Will probably play around a bit more trying to exhaust the plugin limit, but at least now I know how to fix the problem if it re-occurs!

Little update after a bit of testing:

 

I think Vault 22 Flora Overhaul was the bad guy here (I had deactivated it earlier, but hadn't deleted it, before you game me that advice).

Just reinstalled it and immediately the problem reoccured. Thinking back, it was also one of the mods I had installed just before I first had the problem. So probably just a bit too much new stuff for my already plugin-rich New Vegas... too bad, because the screens of it look amazing...

There isn't a texture limit. I have a texture replacer for almost every damn thing in the game, a gazzilion and five high resolution armours AND weapons. NVEC which includes EVE which is also full of high res goodies... No texture-limit-problems.

 

The problem usually comes from people not understanding what they're doing when they mod their game and/or not counting esp's that they have merely unchecked instead of removed when counting towards their esm/esp limits.

I believe I've read about texture limits in other threads, but perhaps I am wrong.  If it is the case, I'm sure that system specs plays a large part in it.  I condense the fuck out of my texture files.

 

Oh perhaps then. You mean individual texture file SIZE limits?

I use the optimiser on all of my texture mods too. I use it on everything really.

Yeah it does screwy things when you hit the limit, I found at my limit all I had to do was add one more clothing mod and vanilla objects that weren't touched by any mod like letter boxes started showing as red diamonds.

 

Yeah that definitely happens when you hit the plugin limit. I run EVE (via nvec which adds a shit ton of other stuff), trooper overhaul, NMC, POCO, MG's clutter retex's, vurts, WRP, Loads of hectrol stuff, custom armours compilation, custom weapon compilation, TTW, Rockwellpursuit etc etc etc...

 

I never get the purple face/hand,chameleon textures or red diamond syndrome until the very SECOND I try and run the game with a certain amount of esm/esp...

Well I've seen it continue to happen till I manually deleted the added mods meshes & textures directory (pre-FOMM) usage, I had an insane amount of clothing mods installed and I was still having issues at 90 active plugins. It was the size of the meshes & textures folders, not the number of esp's.

What kind of size are we talking about because my FNV directory pushes 50 gig now, is that large or small?

I do optimise the fuck out of everything I use. Perhaps that's why I can use a fuckton of armours and weapons and haven't ran into a texture limit?

Seriously, every well known armour mod you can think of is in my game, spice of life, ADAM, loads of daejones power armour replacements ncr trooper overhaul, high def wastelands outfits, type3m clothing replacers, some FO3 improvements that don't spring to mind right now the list just goes on and on... AND they are all in meshes and textures because I merged everything into armour/weapon compilations and had no fucking clue how to get multiple BSA's to work with it...

 

Or maybe I just got lucky and my 4 year old i7 machine with a piddly 8 gig of ram and a very underpowered graphics card is doing some cyber magic? :P
