Second Life?

Not so much a game as a social experiment, but honestly, if you're looking for sex in a game, I've never seen anything even close to approaching what you can do in Second Life. I've hopped in for a look-see off and on over the years. Definitely worth a peek if you're wanting to see sexy avatars engaged in every dirty act you can imagine.

There is quite a bit of good stuff out there, but it can be hit or miss based on who is online, how popular a location is, etc. I prefer single player stuff since it is always available, but for multiplayer nothing beats SL.

What are some of the best SL areas and groups you all have seen? I have spent the most time at the Human Trafficking Mansion since it has a high level of roleplay and is fairly popular.

My only problem with SL is that it can be slow. Typing out descriptive posts, essential for good rokeplaying, takes a long time. A good scene will often take a long time, which is difficult when you have limited time.

I was friends with a girl that was ADDICTED to it. Never played it myself but apparently she ran a sex club of some sort where every night there would be random gatherings where people would tell sexy stories (over a microphone) and even masturbate for the group, sometime with motivation from the crowd. Sounded great but felt like something you really need to devote yourself too. Also the fees and other upkeep required didn't fit into my "drop in and do it once in awhile for a little fun" approach to adult gaming.

Also there is the very real fear of running into a guy playing as an 18 year old teen which is never the kind of surprise you want when you're looking for sexy time.

Madisonx, I loved the Human Trafficking Mansion! I spent a lot of time there way back in it's original (least I think it was the original) incarnation when there was a stage and a basement shower area and rooms in the back and all the walls were red curtains. When they moved to the new more castle-like mansion, I dropped in off and on. Had some really great rp's there. I never really found anywhere else that had that kind of serious roleplay vibe to it.

And you're exactly right about time involvement. It really is much, much better when you have a partner that you clic with and can immerse yourself in the play and get detailed, intelligent posts. A partner taking ten minutes to post kills the mood just as surely as "AFK a minute."

Basically' date=' SL is 4chan but they added graphics.[/quote']

Not really it has a heap more depth to it than just a chat room with graphics, there's all sorts of non-sex stuff happening in their at times. And people are making a full time living from selling stuff there too.

Basically 4Chans just a newsgroup with pictures............ :P

4chan is a forum where topics are deleted after a few hours and everyone is anonymous, so anyone and everyone can talk about anything for a while and drama between users is basically non-existent as who they are is not important at all, it's what they say that is important. Every once in a while there will be a tripcode-using idiot, but they're widely regarded as idiots and attention whores so most ignore them.

Pick a board you're interested in, be it traditional gaming or comics or TV shows or sports or guns, and you're definitely going to have a good time.

Most people think of /b/ when it comes to 4chan, but /b/ has been a shithole for years. The other boards are where it's at.

I play in the Gor sims in Second Life, though I do visit outside them regularly. I came for the sexy, but stayed for the combat and adventure, and of course, the sexy. It's like nothing else out there. I'm very intrigued, though, with the interest in adult modding shown on this board. I'll be writing about it on my blog. Thing about Second Life Gor is, it's not a corporate production, the players have literally created the game. It's freaky and weird and hella fun, but I'm interesting in seeing how others are making games work to their own interests rather than the corporate entities that have created them, and how much leeway you get. Could be the new wave in gaming!

4chan also has alot of random stuff in it, which was the point.

*knows what 4chan and sl are*

*works at successful business and creates alot of content for sl*

Anyhoo, you can find practically anything on 4chan.

Same thing with SL.

Theres like every niche and sub community of kinks and interests scattered about its grid.

I had some great cybersex encounters with women I got to know both in SL and outside of it, but I also really enjoyed just checking out the cool places people had built that were non-sexual. Digital art galleries, recreations of real-world concert halls or historical sights, jazz clubs, etc.

I personally spent a ton of time in-game, and eeked out quite a haul of Lindens over time working as a silk/dancer at a Gorean themed brothel, and as an independent escort. Of course, spent some time in the Gorean sims, for the clients at the brothel that were interested in roleplay, but the actual roleplaying opportunities are very ground out and linear - never mind limited - for a female in Gorean sims, so I mostly whored around, bought goodies from some designers and animators I'd meet, and went around satiating my lust for unprotected sex and breeding fetishes.

Even had one of the biggest breeding-fetish groups on SL, "Water My Garden." Had our own sim-space, and a ton of members, as well as being networked with a number of other groups, mostly interracial breeding stuff. Furries were the only other dedicated group, besides white women and black men, who were into it, but it was a lot of fun. Lots of helpful people(learned a ton about Dom/sub relationships), and always something to do, whether naughty or tame.

Matter of fact, I have every intention of getting heavy into modding when the CK releases this week - *crosses fingers* - and plan to get permissions from some of the designers I knew there to use their "silks" designs and porting them into Skyrim. That should be fun, and, of course, I'll be posting them all here and on the Nexus when I finally hash everything out.

If a 3d avatar can be attractive in a video game... Second Life doesn't have it.

Its avatars are so old and so unappealing to look at that the game is almost a test of your sanity.

You don't know much about Second Life...

I'm guessing you saw the starter avatars and turned around and went the other direction. Yes' date=' those DO suck... but the quality of avatars in Second Life ranks among the best in gaming. You have to get out in the world and shop for quality avatar elements to improve the starter look. Heck, you can make an extremely attractive avatar with just freebies.

Edit:

My Avatar for an example...

I figure I should probably move the discussion to the regular second life thread.

Hey Irish, the South Side Snakepit is AMAZING. LOVE IT.

I need a bit of guidance on RLV though. I downloaded the standalone, and am currently using that. Is using phoenix/firestorm or something like that better or required? Also, someone was giving me a guide a mentioned that something about needing a collar, slightly confused on that.(is that the relay thing? I think I grabbed that in a free box in the S3P starting location, the thing that adds a circle in the bottom left?) And a minor question, with the standalone RLV, the pm window is disappearing whenever I click outside of it, is there any way to change that? Edit: Gah, another thing about the S3P, that the tour never got to, what are all of the red things around on the ground? Are those for interaction with the RLV/Relay system?

Thanks for your time, and for tolerating my new-ness.

Oh yeah, and I have no idea what people are talking about when they say the graphics suck. They are just right for me.

Oh, and a question about the premium account, does the 300 dollar weekly stipend add up, or do they take back whatever of the 300 you don't spend?

EDIT2: Okay, in the instruction for the relay over at S3P, it says that in the advanced menu there should be a "Restrained Love API" option that should be checked, I don't see that anywhere. Or is that because I am using the standalone RLV???

Edit3: for some reason it wont let me add picks. Or maybe I just don't know how.

Posted

I myself use Firestorm and its RLV functions are under preferences/advanced. As for collars, use the search for "Temple of the Open Collar" there you will find lots of free goodies. You don't necessarily need a collar, what you need is a RLV relay which you wear. Most collars have it built in, but if you don't want to wear one you'll need a separate relay for your HUD. The red markers next to bondage furniture are indeed indicators that they are RLV enabled. As for your disappearing window, I'm not sure, never saw that happen to me.

As for money, you might want to consider not having a premium account and instead just buy linden when you need it. If you JUST want Linden and none of the other premium account perks, then the Linden is cheaper is if you buy it directly.

Posted

Excellent, thanks. So that is good, I have a relay. I now know what the red markers are. I'm thinking that the RLV probably just doesn't have that as an option and is just enabled, after all, it is the RLV after all, what else do you download it for.

Now I just need to figure out about the IM window. I'd rather not switch viewers just for one thing.

I would recommend using Firestorm viewer. It's got much more features and can be customized better than the standard viewer and Restrained Love Viewer have.

Glad ya like it. Built it for perverts like us!

And get Firestorm. You will not be sorry. if only for the stability of the viewer.

If you need ANY help figgering out the RLV toys.. inside of several wooden boxes placed around the Snakepit are instructions. Look for:

"Free RLV relay and information" hovering about them.

And as a warning.. with ANY MMORPG you will run into asshats. They are out there. My enforcers and I swing a mean ban-stick in the Snakepit. We will not harbor asshatness in any fashion, however in some other sims it's became funny to lock someone down in RLV and leave them. The RLV relays that I pass out in my place have a SAFEWORD in them. If you are not using one of them (as opposed to a collar) you should.

I have been a Premium member for 3 and a half years. As a land owner I have to be.. Unless you REALLY want to stick your head in the hornets nest of land owner-ship.. Just buy the damn Lindens as needed.. If you need a place to call "home" We rent cottages.. and they are shit cheap.

"Bling" <-- Noob Beacon. We all wore it when we started. We all got sick of it. It's easy to spot the new players.

Have TOO much fun!

Alright, turns out the firestorm viewer is in fact pretty cool. All the options to fiddle around with are a smidge daunting, but nothing to bad. The chat options are the main part I'm fiddling with the most. One question, okay, two. (I know, I'm full of them. :P)

1: Is there any way to adjust the profile menu for firestorm? Only the "popout" one I can adjust. :\

2: Any recommendations on the media filter settings and what-not?

Hah, and I never used bling. On of the first things I did was look up a script to remove it from items.

Oh, and once again, thanks so much for the help. I tend to ask a lot of questions about things I get really into so... there you go. :D

Edit: Okay, so one more question. Last one. Promise. The RLV Relay I have (thanks to the S3P) allows me to set a "password" option to escape if I need to. But what is the password? (The info provided was excellent, don't get me wrong. I probably just missed it/misinterpreted something.)

Posted

1. Nope.

2. If you want music, click the note icon in the top right corner. S3P has the BEST blues channel in SL. I pay for that, monthly.

3. Should be a button on the pop up menu that says "SAFEWORD"

To get that menu click the 3-lock icon on your HUD.

You just click that button.

People who charge 1$ for demos go to a special level of hell.

I mean c'mon, have some faith in your product. Honestly, after searching the store to find something that looks like I might want it, and then I hover over the demo sign and see that 1$ pop up, I just want to say screw it and find somewhere else to shop.

ROLEPLAYING IS NOT FUCKING DIFFICULT

Step one: /me

Step two: (Your action)

(optional) Step Three: (What you say)

Step four: Let the other person respond

Step five: repeat.

Key rule to go by: Do not tell the other person what their character is doing! React to what they are doing, do not tell them what their character is feeling, experiencing, etc.

Example: /me kicks open the door, charging into the room. He levels his machine gun and points it at the crowd of people. "Alright you mother fuckers! Hands in the air!"

Obviously there can be far more advanced usage than this, with posting speech, then actions, and back and forth, a slightly varying format and what-not, but come the fuck on people, I have never fucking roleplayed in my life before these two weeks in second life, (Except for the souls and swords thread here.) and I, quite frankly, kick ass at it. If I can do it, you can too, just put a modicum of effort into it.

You have to love seeing Demons, werewolves, minotaurs, wolves, dogs, foxes, horses, centaurs, ogres, trolls, dragons, furries, and other assorted creatures with profiles saying "RL females only." Even better when their bio/rl page goes into a rant about how sl is separate from rl and that what happens in sl is something that they keep completely separate and rl doesn't matter. Oh but "RL females only."

I should add a "RL Demons, werewolves, minotaurs, wolves, dogs, foxes, horses, centaurs, ogres, trolls, dragons, etc. only" to my profile.

Edit: Though I'm not sure who is more annoying, the guys who say "RL females only," or the women who brag in their profile how they are "RL female verified."

Hello there. I'm new here so please be gentle...

I play Second life myself and I managed to bring stuff from oblivion, clothes, bodices and such. I can post a how-to if someone is interested.
