Guest †Foggy♥Sugar† Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 I keep trying Second Life but I never stay interested. I see 'interesting' things and such but from what I can tell it's just people harassing you for cyber with extremely 2D characters. I may have had three bad experiences; I dunno. I hear great things about it but when I have tried it the look and feel of the game was awkward, ugly and just generally had a 'do not want' feeling to it. This is just my opinion though. I have tried to watch some of the videos produced from the game as well, I don't think I understand the appeal though.
Irishredneck Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Foggy.. You cannot swing a dead cat in Second life without hitting 4 fucktards that are only there to cause trouble. The key is to hang out in places that have a reputation for banning those idiots. Some of the better sims are the more popular ones. You are more than welcome to try out my place, and if harassed in there, I can assure you of some swift and brutal justice! My place is the South Side Snakepit, and I am Ogart Coba in SL. Join the LoversLab group and send me a message.. If I'm in world I'll show you around to some of the better places... Well none of them will be "nice" places.. just better kind of badness! heheh.
Nonsense667 Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Hello there. I'm new here so please be gentle... I play Second life myself and I managed to bring stuff from oblivion' date=' clothes, bodices and such. I can post a how-to if someone is interested. [/quote'] Well, I'm not sure exactly how interested I am, but I am sure it couldn't hurt to see it, some lurker may love it. Besides, this thread needs more activity. I keep trying Second Life but I never stay interested. I see 'interesting' things and such but from what I can tell it's just people harassing you for cyber with extremely 2D characters. I may have had three bad experiences; I dunno. I hear great things about it but when I have tried it the look and feel of the game was awkward' date=' ugly and just generally had a 'do not want' feeling to it. This is just my opinion though. I have tried to watch some of the videos produced from the game as well, I don't think I understand the appeal though. [/quote'] It is surprising how much SL manages to mimic RL. Just like in RL, there are plenty of assholes, and plenty of people who are really a joy to be around. Honestly, videos can't really capture the feeling of living in SL, I haven't seen one anyway. (Not that I have been searching.) But yeah, searching around, and finding some good places with good people is really key to enjoying the SL experience. It has a bit of a learning curve for sure, it will take you over a week to get the hang of the game, (And over two to really get down more of the details.) but once you do, it is incredibly rewarding and fun. (Pro-tip: Use the alt and alt-ctrl keys to move the camera around better, and make sure you go into the advanced menu and disable camera constraints.) If you would like me to recommend some places to check out, let me know! Just tell me what exactly you are looking for and I may be able to help! Though I don't have a huge list of cuddly romantic places, mine I assume is similar in nature to Irish's. :3 And one last little note. From my experience, with every mistake you make in SL, you learn from it. When you buy an item that turns out not to be exactly what you wanted, you learn to look carefully next time to avoid a similar mistake when shopping. You learn to read in between the lines of place descriptions, learning which places are quality areas, and which are just traps. All of this being said, no, it isn't for everyone. But I still say it is worth a shot if you are interested!
Guest †Foggy♥Sugar† Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 I didn't mean to sound rude if I did, I'm socially inept. It's probably my entire problem with Social things like 2nd Life. I wanted to get into it (right now I have my hands full with the project) over the years and have tried I just wasn't sure when trying. The introduction was... I think they could do a better job honestly. I don't mean to sound rude, I'm really sorry if I do. It just seemed like something someone like myself (Cute/Cuddly/Rough/Scary it's all the same thing in the end if you're talking about sexual experiences) who doesn't like to deal with actual people but rather finds friends online much easier to talk with; would really like. Instead I was popped in the face with a huge black penis and some chick showing me how the pink and purple balls on the floor of her digital living room could be used to simulating a BJ. I was thrown off completely lol (Obviously) I don't have a problem with sex, but I didn't see anything I was interested in. I think I was given the bad looking, dark -not in any sort of fun way- side and gave up too fast. Little Edit: When I said I was finding extremely two dimensional characters, I literally meant the personalities of the people I talked to, not the way the game looks.
Nonsense667 Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 You didn't sound rude at all. And don't worry, I am also the sort to apologize a lot. ^^ But you are correct. If you cannot enjoy interacting with people, you cannot enjoy second life. I know, I tried it around 3-4 years ago and never talked to anyone. I gave up pretty quickly. Haha, and introduction? Second life has an introduction? If it does, I've completely forgot it. I got my ass off of that island (And any other g-rated sims) as quickly as I could. And one thing about the sex, remember, it is just as varied an experience there as it is in real life. You have your stereotypical cyber sexers going "Harder. Harder. Deeper. Harder. Deeper." Bleh. You have your idiots going "Oh yeh bb U suck so good. imma fuk U hard. Turn over." But you also have good interactions. Just your regular "/me looks deep into your eyes, holding you tightly, hands running down your sides, as he kisses your body, slowly moving down from your neck." And you have your para-rper's. (Paragraph Roleplayers) Who write up incredibly deep storys using intricate and erotic details. "/me opens the door slowly, walking in, his steps heavy. The smell of smoke and alcohol fills his nostrils. He scans the room, a shine of light in his eyes, as he hopes the one he seeks will be here tonight. His eyes soon fall on a waifish hooded figure in the back, clearly gazing at him, though trying to hide it. He slowly made his way over, making sure to keep a watch on the rest of the tavern's patrons, lest they try anything, it never hurts to be too careful. He walks up without a word to the table the woman is sitting at, and slowly pulls out a chair, thudding down into it heavily. He looks up, brushing the hair out of his eyes, and his face twists into a wry smile, as his eyes shine with curiosity. "So, we finally meet." It really is all up to who you meet. Thanks for that clarification. Their are plenty of people on both sides. I make sure to have a detailed profile, and I always "perv" other peoples profiles to learn about them. When someone messages me, the first thing I do is look at their profile. If it doesn't interest me or turns me off, I can just ignore them.
Guest †Foggy♥Sugar† Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 This explanation was a lot nicer then I thought it would be, I seem to piss people off no matter what I do... or don't. You're a sweet person, thanks for putting it like this. I think; when I have the time - I will give another shot. My name is the same everywhere I go so if I look you up, please don't feel the need to talk to me merely because you were nice enough to hold my hand and sit me down to a further explanation. I'm an idiot and I like being told things in great detail. Thanks hun ^^ Ha sorry ok small edit as I pretty much edit everything I ever say... I'm not being sarcastic, I just realized this may sound like I'm being a bitch but I'm being totally sincere.
Nonsense667 Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Well, I just had my first "Second Life isn't a game" conversation. I understand how you so easily got angry in the other thread astymma. Me: *Tells friend (Without going into details of course. ) about how amazing my time in SL has been* Friend: *Oh yeah, I have played some mmorpg's myself* Me: Second life isn't an mmorpg, it isn't a game at all Friend: Oh, I thought you were talking about that game where you create a character and go around talking to people. Me: It's a virtual world! *Insert long ass argument between us about whether or not it is a game/mmorpg.* Fucking frustrating as hell.

dferraris Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Ok now for the pictures. I had issues uploading... This is the DMRA Body. I gimped the first one a little bit there's a seam on the neck. Oh and I have a question btw, you guys think it's ok to upload theses meshes to SL ? I had an argument about it with some people in SL... And I'm not selling it anyway... I'd like to ask permission if I could find out who to ask...
Arngrim11 Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 @dferraris The legality of that would depend on Bethesda's Mod policy and if any original oblivion meshes were used. But for the most part a public release of such things isn't legal. A good example would be Rin's Sims hairs which you can't find on sites such as nexus. This is just my opinion and I could be wrong if so someone plase correct me.
Irishredneck Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Fuck yes. I say upload them. It is easier to beg forgiveness than ask for permission. If either Bethesda or Linden Labs get's their panties in a bunch over it.. AS LONG AS YOU ARE NOT MAKING REAL MONEY off it.. You just apologize and delete it. Share that shit though!
Nonsense667 Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 There is much need for a "Filter "Gorean"" feature for search. Hell, just the ability to "-(anything)" from the search would be great. Seriously, un-check general and mature from the search, and type in "roleplay" and hit enter. Gorean, Gorean, Gorean, Gorean...
Guest Lady Luck Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 talking about second life i used to - run a club - run a roleplaying community - run a city - run a medieval realms - run a shop and finally i quit because i achieved everything i could want that game thats when i know the game ends. it took me 5 years to have all of that. if some of you want a moderator or a supporter running roleplaying things with experience lemme know i'm really itching to go to sl again seems like i been mia for ages.

dferraris Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 It's not a big deal ! I'm not sure for the monsters maybe it would work as long as it is the same skeleton ? SL wont import etra bones so no extra arms or legs, or whatever... Oh and I found this mod : http://tesadventures.com/forum/index.php?topic=3404.msg124729 Dunno where it comes from but the model has the Second Life Logo on the breast...
Queen Bee Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 All this sounds amazing. I wish I didn't hate SL's controls with every fiber of my being. Some of my friends play SL, and I always feel left out.

nekomimimeido Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 *Insert long ass argument between us about whether or not it is a game/mmorpg.* Well, technically Second Life is the very definition of "MMORPG". Let's break that abbreviation down: "Massively Multiplayer Online": check, you can interact with millions of people via the internet, up to 256 at once even. (256 avatars is usually the hard limit a sim can hold) "Role Playing Game": This one is a bit tricky and often misinterpreted. It's not about choosing classes and allocating stat points like most people think due to Final Fantasy, The Elder Scrolls and such; It's about pretending to be and/or playing a specific character. It might be a copy of yourself, it might be the half-dragon knight you'd like to be or the Fairy Princess you dreamed about. Either way you play a role. Whether it's just a game to you or you want to have serious business going on is up to you. So yes, SL is a MMORPG. It's not a scripted game with set rules and mechanics, it is a sandbox in which you make your own adventure. PS: If anyone is interested, my name is MercuryLight on SL
Wolvie1 Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 SL is just nice. You can do all. RP, Sex, BDSM, Play games (In world such as TIS (Tentacles in space), which is a rape game FPS.) Oh, and not to forget RLV, which is a must! Especially if subby

I've always leaned away from SL. I've been curious, mainly for the vast open sandbox style that it is, but there just seems to be a stigma to it that I never wanted applied to myself as a gamer. Though...the sexy bits do look fun.

Yes, those things can be hosted in SL... but so can the myriad of other things SL is used for like language classes, universitity classes, research, FBI/CIA surveillance, foreign embassies offering visa procedures... and much more. IMO it's a virtual reality platform and what it's used for is up to your imagination.
